Big Group Queue

Maybe the queue doesnt have to be "another bucket", maybe it can have "release valves" like if they cant find a match it dumps them back into the regular queue, (anyone know if thats possible? I dont know **** about code) but at least the 2-4 man groups maybe will have a chance at a better game experience.

What the group queue needs right now isn't more limitations...

Yup, the more "buckets" and limitations the faster you'll kill the game.

If you want a better game experience then play as a team and rise out of the [redacted] tier your in.
The tier you play in is a reflection of your skill.

Only problem is the solo would complain about getting rolled by 2-4 man teams.
Would rather see 2-4 man groups use teamwork with the remaining 8-10 other players.

Yeah, but I'd rather see that than the group queue getting stunted. What's the point of a group queue if you can't get your 12-Man on?
Edit: Solo pugs that decide to venture into the group queue on occasion need to remember that they're guests in another player type's realm and not make such ridiculous requests such as "shrink it" simply because it's not enough like their own queue. It's like someone visiting Florida and then complaining that there's too much sand on the beaches and that there should be a sidewalk. It's non sequitor!

The 1% that I played with a buddy sucked. Loss after loss even when we have 7 guys from the same unit trying to coordinate a firing line against a 12 man.
Then I tried clan war for the events and wow I'd take this group queue over clan war...its worse there.
LoL has 2mans in ranked games, we should too.

This will only kill group queue. As is, it desperately tries to find matches with all the groups in the queue, often stretching tier gaps to their limit. Remove small groups and you remove the small tetris blocks it's using to make a 12 out of 7s, 8s, or 9s.

Either option kills the group queue. The best thing would just be to leave it alone as is.

Or just ditch it entirely and let solo players fill in the gaps in non-12 groups so that PSR and 3/3/3/3 can actually work.
They could even give hardcore group haters an opt-out button for all I care. Group queue needs more people for it to be worthwhile for any but the strongest teams.

I'd be cool with that. The only reason why it got separated originally was because a bunch of ForumWarriors whined that they couldn't/wouldn't cope.

Actually it was the majority but by the time they finally removed the 4 man limit the damage was done.

It needs the vastly more numerous 2-3 man groups to fill in for odd player counts, for the same reason that you can't make a group of 11.
It's a vastly more problematic effect than no longer having groups of 10 (if no 2's) or 9 (if there are no 3's).
Even removing groups of 2 alone greatly impacts the matchmaking viability of any group size greater than 4, because of how much more restricted the combinations become. With a group of 6, the only possible alternatives to fill the match are two groups of 3, or another 6. It could never use a group of 5. It cannot use a group of 4 because there is no group of 2 to fill out the rest, in addition to having no option for just throwing in three groups of 2.
A group of 5 would require, specifically, a group of 7 or a group of of 3 and a group of 4 with no alternatives. Currently it can do 5+2, or 3+2+2 in addition to that.
Any group of 7 and higher would have one, and only one, combination to fill out a match.
Asking for a certain spread of mechs with such a limited selection pool would throw the matchmaker to what it was before class matching or 3/3/3/3, because it would not be feasible to adhere to strict criteria with so few placement options and an inability to swap out parts of groups to make either player skill or mechs more balanced on either team.
So...any change to the group queue would probably end it for anything larger than lance size. To be honest, if it did I wouldn't shed many tears. Catering to large groups at the expense of small groups does not make logical sense, because they amount to a minority portion of the group queue itself, let alone compared to the whole of the player base.
Small groups are a much bigger gateway to player base growth than large ones. It makes it easier for people to bring their friends in. Honestly if it was left to me I'd probably axe groups of 5+ in a minute and leave groups of 12 to CW.

Basically, relax the limitations a bit to reduce waiting times all around.
