If they fixed the vision modes, made either one actually useful, and not as butt-ugly to use, the annoyingly quick light changes would be slightly less obnoxious, but they still cause jarring lag, and occur way, way too fast and often.

I don't care what planet it's on, less than 10 mins in a day cycle is just silly...we're not arguing what can and can't scientifically happen here, we're arguing how we like our game, MWO, and for MWO, the day/night cycle, combined with terrible vision modes, currently sucks.

I totally agree with this. These gamma guys shouldn't be able to see farther than I can with night vision....

"Hey Cortana! Increase gamma by 2% increments every second until I tell you to stop ... stop!".

"Hey Cortana! Now increase brightness by 1.5% increments every second until I say stop ... stop!".

Ain't technology great? :D

Now I need to finish designing that interface to turn my iPad into a PC input device controlled via Siri. ;)

I like the day-night cycle, but fortunately i didn't experience any fps drop.

The matches only last 15 minutes, if the day-night cycle lasted 24 hours we wouldn't notice it at all. Maybe the current speed feels too fast, but it has to be accelerated in comparation to Terra time to have any effect.

It's pretty unbalanced too, one starting side has a clear advantage (the one where you can get first onto the high peak).

That is only true if you insist on fighting on Derp Mountain.

Alpine is a big map. You don't have to always fight on that peak. I rarely do.

have fun with your night vision mode- then I will shine my warhammers or longbows spotlight in your face and you will go
"another lovely day on Hasperus IV AAAAAAAAAAAAH! MY EYES! [screen completely white all the sudden]"

Good job blinding me, but what about the other 11 people on my team that now have a nice bright beacon to line up their cross hairs up to. Players had an issue with the Atlas glowing eyes giving away their position and that wasn't nearly as bright as a spotlight.

I think I would rather have the better night vision and be able to see my enemy while staying less obvious.

Still, if you want to be a walking lighthouse, more power to you :).

If they see my light source- they will be blinded to, if they are at an angle that it doesn't hit them, they will not see much.

Yep random start time and slower transition would be best. It might seem cool to want to have day to dark/dark to day transitions all the time it actually gets very annoying as visibility is always shite at times like that. If times were randomly picked then it would make the times you do get a day night transition feel more special.

This is a feature that all CW maps should have, not the regular queue maps.

Not true, just aim for the root of the source.

I wouldn't mind if we weren't using night vision and thermals from the 1960s.

I don't mind the dynamic lighting; I mind the vision modes being garbage and people cheating by jacking the gamma all the way up to compensate.

When I use my nightvision goggles(in real life) I turn the "gama" up on them as well. The only vision type they screwed the pooch on is thermal. -85c snow should not be white, thermal also gives you no depth perception at all.

With that logic night time driving would be impossible. If you could see a car's headlights, you would be blinded (no matter the angle). Makes it hard to see the road. I can see car headlights without being blinded, and they makes a car visible in the dark from many angles from far away.

But Mei, your not using night vision (light amplification) they say. If the military's night vision could be defeated by a car driving anywhere within their vision where they could see headlamps, it wouldn't be a very good system.

Don't forget all the terrain that lights up in front of you too with a spotlight.

Hey, whatever makes you feel better, it isn't happening anyway. :)

You're telling me that in "MI" you drive cars with night vision goggles?
Wait... why do you even need to use your cars light if you got night vision goggles?

Also you forget this is battletech- night vision/ light amp would be worse then irl 1960's grade (I mean look at them now... they are probably equal to WWII's crude night vision... well at least it is not like BT's machine guns which is worse then WWI's...)

If the terrain right in front of you is lit up then you probably equiped the spot light way to low or you are probably facing a cliff side... because last time I checked they were kinda high

Note: the lights on a car function differently then those on battlemechs, military vehicles and hunting lights/ fishing lights.

Cars often make it so it's highly visible, this is so that you do not crash into a car coming from the side or on a wide lane on the same road as you without you painting your car in florescent paint. The spotlights here are along the lines of light up the parts you need to see and don't waste it anywhere else to give away your position or waste power.

ALso I would welcome Flare/ illumination rounds to missiles in this game...

It's turning the gamma up in order to not have to use the vision modes that is ********.

They ought to have left that setting broken.

And yeah, wearing NVGs is actually hilariously disorienting if you aren't used to it. I had to keep a hand out to feel around last time I wore a pair around.

i like the idea of a random time of day to fight, but the game going from late afternoon to night then to morning in 15 mins, idc what planet your on, it would never happen that fast.
