I would prefer 12v12 be handled by game modes that encourages or enforces splitting up into lances. More of the big maps space can be used up that way and less congestion from mech traffic to deal with.

non-CW gamemodes need to go back to 8v8
CW gamemodes should remain 12v12

I'd be perfectly okay with this. Bonus - 8v8 public/group queues require fewer players and ease up on the matchmaker. Though then you'd have to sell 2/2/2/2 to the public instead of 3/3/3/3

12 vs 12, one good player cannot carry a match
Choose wisely.

The issue has always been the game modes. They are not built with 12 v 12 engagements in mind, and only serve in their current form to cater to a very narrow playstyle that basically devolves the entire game into deathball skirmish.
These modes have only been minorly adjusted since 4v4 matches back in beta, where ok in 8v8, but it does not cater well to 12 v 12 matches.
I feel like 12 v 12 is better for the game overall, but the game modes need to CATER to 12v12 play. Right now, the game modes just aren't deep enough to get around the fact that death ball skirmish is the only way the matches ever shake down right now.

We could use some:
1v1 (solaris)
4v4 (lance)
12v12 (company, what we have now)
36v36 (battalion)
And a MM that can value Clan mechs to be the 1.25 (ish) value to IS 1.0 in matches.

Lower nah no fun in it .
I can make you a 4 mans group and this group wil stomp you every time in to the ground.
Hell i can make you a 8 man and stomp you even harder in to the ground.
And yeh i must confess we did this in the past when you could choose 4v4 and 8v8.
Take out the 3/3/3/3 pffff we will come with 12 timberwolfs and stomp you so hard in to the ground that you will leave the game screaming and yelling to youre gods that it is not fare.
That things are as they are now had a reason people complaining (as they always do no matter what) the forum is full of them ,read the old posts from 2 years back.
The only way would in deed be more mechs in to the field, maybe even repair bays,Make the smaller maps bigger.
Let's say i'm happy with the things as they are but thats me
Changes let them come and if the time comes that i cant live with the changes i will simply move on to a other game.
And there i will see the same things again people complaining about god knows what.
And yes i played a game where you played with as many people you could muster against each other and that is fun yeh it is 100 v 100 or 50 v 150 even .

Whats easier? going back to 8v8 or redoing all the maps and gamemodes to properly support 12v12? going back to 8v8 is much easier and therefore the obvious stopgap solution and can be implemented immediately by rolling back the code to 8v8.
non-CW needs to go back to 8v8
CW can stay at 12v12
Eventually they need to just integrate EVERY map/gamemode into CW and make every match count as a CW match. CW is going to die out completely if they dont do that. But that would require updating all the non-CW maps/gamemodes to be compatible with CW... and making 12v12 work on them. That however is not a realistic short term goal. Its probably a year away at best.

Does more mechs = more fun for you? Would less be better (back to 8 vs. 8 or the 4 vs. 4 skirmish idea)? Is the amount of mechs ok as it is?
If there was a decent command wheel, and bigger maps (possibly with a combination of objectives) then I could really dig 24 v 24 or similar games. Something really meaty to get stuck into.

I'd love to get both 8 vs 8 and 12 vs 12 at random, for variety, assuming that we can get the player population to sustain that.
4 vs 4 would probably be nigh impossible to balance, just too sensitive to even a single bad/great player, or one team having wrong mechs for the map.
