Not going crazy because I know Heavy Gear Assault will be here first to tide me over. If they do their arena combat right with the right spectator tools, it could be the esports mwo wish it was.

I wish I could put Corporate logos for the manufacturer of my Gauss Rifle and medium lasers on my mech. I mean if solo queue is nascar, then we should look the part.

I totally fear that HG will be a super twitchy shooter with 180kph roller jets. HG2 totally ruined what was a great game play style versus HG1 imo.

P.S. A new BattleTech game for PC will be great, but I will wait patiently and continue to stomp around RT with MWO. ;)

I've bought and played all 3 SRs and backed 2 of them (didn't know about the first).

As long as people understand what kind of game it is, and don't over hype it themselves - this is a company that will deliver a great product.

In particular they are excellent at theme, background setting & story lines - so fans of that stuff should be really pleased.

So yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to this and will be backing it on day 1.

Rant incoming...

I play maybe 1 multiplayer game at a time. My one multiplayer game has been MWO for some time. It was a bit of Battlefield before this, before BF it was CoD, before that it was Quake, etc... Basically, I'm happy with playing one multiplayer game at any one given time.

Now Single Player is a whole different situation. I play single player games all the time. Even games like GTAV with a really robust multiplayer, I've only played single player. Give me games like Skyrim, Mass Effect (screw it's multiplayer too), Tomb Raider, Fallout:New Vegas, etc...

I wish game devs would quit thinking multiplayer is mandatory in all games now. I like really good immersive single player campaigns and I wish there was a lot more of them.

Yes.
The possibility of getting a good singleplayer TURN-BASED Battletech game is simply driving me nuts.

The fact that it takes place in 3025 (which is easily THE BEST ERA, and don't dare arguing with me).
The only thing that would make me even MORE excited for it, if it also had Quadrupedal mechs (in 3025 it's only the Goliath and Scorpion, both solid mechs for their roles) and fully functional melee combat (with charging, DFA, punching, kicking, ripping out trees and smacking people over the head with it)

HOW DO I LIKE THIS POST MORE THAN ONCE!

I'm certainly looking forward to it; but not going nuts waiting. Patience is key.

Perhaps folks are becoming starved for an actual decent, premium-based (non-nickel-dime model) MW or BT game?

There's plenty to tide me over while waiting for other games and MWO certainly isn't one of those things. Witcher 3, Shadowrun, Pillars of Eternity, X-Wing, MW2, Fallout 1. For BT fixes, I just go straight to MegaMek.

I dont get why everyone is so excited about MWO PvE or other campaign type games. These days I don't even play the single player most games ship with. I just go strait to the multiplayer.

BECAUSE MW4 CAMPAIGN WAS REALLY REALLY REALLY FUN. You didn't have to GAME THE GAME, you could just build your dream mechs and because you had command able AI friendlies you could be whatever you wanted, and so could your allies. AND THEN YOU COULD HAVE CUSTOM SCENARIOS AND YOU GOT TO PICK ALL MECHS ON EACH SIDE. YOU COULD EVEN HAVE EVERY MECH BE A CUSTOM ATLAS WITH 1 MG IF YOU WANTED!

MW is far better suited as a single player game, than a multiplayer game. Im not saying that I hate MWO or don't like the multiplayer, but theres a large amount of people that would have such a good time with a proper MWO campaign with good AI and fun missions. Please think about it, because mw games have always had amazing campaigns.

I personally dont spend money on kickstarters never any guarantee that it will end up with anything near what they claim, far too many just blatant cash grabs where they just end it after they took a fair amount of peoples money.

Basically I dont trust them. Just look at star citizen, or this game...

That said I hope they make a really good camaign for this series again one that impresses.

I want lots of mechs no pay to own like this game does, no grinding, lots of destructible stuff, a great story one that last more than just a hand full of hours.

PGI is teaming up with HBS to make BattleTech. The 'mechs in the game are MWO 'mechs.

Here you go:

http://www.catalystg...eturning-to-pc/

Harebrained Schemes is consulting with Catalyst Game Labs to create a PC Turn-Based BattleTech game. The Kickstarter will go live Fall 2015.

Who are Harebrained Schemes?: www.harebrained-schemes.com (Led by Jordan Weisman, the creator of Shadowrun, Crimson Skies, BattleTech, and MechWarrior)

For an idea what the game is about, here is an interview: http://www.sarna.net...ch-kickstarter/

Summary from interview:
  • Set in 3025 Era (winding down/end of) and the Fourth Succession War will be starting to gain momentum (Note: Which 'officially' began in August, 3028)
  • Exploring the Feudal/Political Aspects of BT
  • Turn-Based/Tactical Squad Based (Command 4 Mechs)
  • Single-Player Merc Style Campaign (Mitch states: "MechWarrior 2 is a good reference for that" - as in the Dynamic/Branching MW2: Mercs campaign)
  • Choose your missions, Hire new MechWarriors, Upgrade your Mechs, Get salvage - from mission to mission
  • Multiplayer is a potential stretch-goal
  • "We’re talking about developing the periphery in some ways too."
  • They are shooting for an early 2017 release

Right now its in a Pre-Production/conceptual phase, but they have a broad idea of how they would like it to be. I would hope their MP scope would make it as grand and customizable as MegaMek (map-editing, controlling more than 4 Mechs, creating your own campaigns, etc to play with/against someone). It'll likely be premium based (Pay 30-50 bucks, get entire game + updates/content for free).

Totally agree, BUT, how does PGI monetize PvE game play? Buying Consumable to use against an AI seem ludicrous. Would you buy paint and or Camo for MC for a PvE campaign? All that is always included right? Are we buying the PvE campaigns like Packs.... ?

Yeah I just dont know. Single player is like masturbation to me. Its okay when your alone or its all you got, but its not a party till you involve someone else.

It's like RPGs. If you have imagination and intelligence it can be a rich, rewarding and thought-provoking experience. If you don't, you have to rely on other people.

Now you make me feel bad. sad panda.

I just do not feel challenged by most single player games. The vast majority of them are just shooters on rails. No real decisions. Even MW4. Do I sell that salvaged clan er large, or use it? Does not really matter in the end.

Just prefer the challenge and complexity you get from a human opponent. Sure multiplayer that MWO can get repetitive. I really liked MW4, where you had servers and could keep playing with the same group of players map after map.

I'd really like the option in MWO to be able to get a 24 person group together, or after a match be able to hit a 'stay with a group' button. And then have a scramble teams or something like that. So you can trash talk each other, have a good time, and kind of have a community in that way, instead of just random match after random match.....
