That is exactly my point when I said you can't face to face it.

Ah, fair enough, I misunderstood you to mean can't fight it. Yeah, not much wins a staring contest with a Dire

The only viable build I've been able to run is the 12 SPL (with 1 ERLL just to take up tonnage).

It's a fun mech when you're facing players who aren't that good but if you go up against someone who is decent they will core you pretty fast. This is despite the fact the CT has over 100 armor.

If they ever decide to drop the JJs which take up 8 tons this would make a fun dual gauss build.

My most successful build has been Gauss Vomit. Gauss on the right torso and Large Laser on the left torso. Do whatever you want with the arms, though I usually run the left arm as a shield.

Currently, my favorite (and probably hottest) build for the executioner is stock D omnipods, no missiles (I'd like to keep the lower arm actuator), is 5xSPLs, 2xMPLs, and 1x LPL. The LPL is in the left torso, the 2 MPLs are in the right, and the 5 SPLs are in the right arm. I call it the Traffic Kony.

So far I've been enjoying this EXE-D build I've conjured up. It's hot, but excellent for mid to long ranges. The left arm is the shield arm. You can hill poke with the 2x ERLL and 1 CERML, or corner poke with the 5 CERML.

I also like the fact it looks like a kitty with the right camo. http://i.imgur.com/PIaomnf.jpg

Right arm is a bigger shield.

D LA is the only LA with the possibility of Lower Arm Actuator.
Not that bad when I used SRMs.

I have also used UAC20 LA, 2 ERML RT, 4SPL RA to pretty good effect, brutal when the uac doesnt jam.

For me it is my most successful assault. The speed allows you to switch position fast enough to avoid situations where you suddenly face several enemies and got shot into pieces (like with the slow Dire). Gauss in the torso, erppc in one arm and 4-6 lasers in the other arm gives you enough firepower for long-range-attacks in the first part of the fight and for finishing crippled mechs at the later phase.

I bought into the EXE when it released for c-bills a few weeks ago and haven't been the least bit disappointed. The best way that I can describing running them is that it feels like an Atlas that moves like a standard engine Victor. And it can do so with a much better punch than either of those mechs. The available tonnage is limited for a 95-ton mech, but if you're comfortable running energy-heavy builds, that's really not a problem. All three of mine carry ~75-80pt alphas with good range profiles and have enough variety in weapon types to keep a consistent rate of fire at any range. My favorite builds so far: 2xLPL, 6xERSL, 2xSRM6 / 2xLPL, 3-4xERML, 2xSRM6 and 2xLPL, 3xERML, 6xERSL.

The high torso-mounted hardpoints are the highlight of the mech for me. They're high enough that it's easy to fire over smaller teammates - which is a huge deal for assault pilots. You're always getting blocked when you run them... In slower, less agile assaults I often spend as much time just repositioning and trying to find clear angles as I do actually trading shots. I find my level of frustration in this mech is far lower in that regard. Your jets give enough hoverability to clear ravines on Canyon network (or island hop on VBog), and the speed, agility and torso deflection allow you to play with far less concern for the environments you're in. It really opens up the maps. It gives you all the fun of running a big, beefy mech without all the "meh" that typically goes along with that.

Finally mastered the Executioner and I'm pretty happy with it. I have three fairly unique (as in, not like each other) builds going which always makes it fun. I think this guy shines in the long to mid range fighting more than brawling for sure. The MASC and large engine allow you to pop in and out of cover like a medium mech.

These are the builds that have stuck now that I've mastered them.

EXE D - 2x ERLL (torso) + 3 x ERML (torso + arms) + 2 x SRM6 (arms)

EXE PRIME - 6x ERML (arms + torso) + 1 x UAC10 (torso)

EXE B - 2xERPPC (torso) + 1 x ERLL (torso) + 3 x ERSML (arms)

Reporting back: progress has been ok, I'm not really thrilled with these mechs tho.

I have two (all I could afford at the time), and because of the premium time I got from the even I should have enough to get a third this weekend.

It seems I'd love to take advantage of the few high mounts. With 3 energy ones I wanna do 3 LPL or ERPPC, but can only fire 2 at a time. I'm cool with splitting 2-1 but then I usually want either a ballistic or missiles in one arm and a group of lighter lasers in the other. I dunno. It just seems like I enjoyed grinding my Warhawks a lot more.

2xERLL one in each torso. ERPP in RA iirc and 6 ERSL in the LA. ERPPC is good for all ranges, It can run a little hot, but once you learn your rhythm.

I took advantage of all the cbills, premium time, etc from the last couple events and over the weekend I got a third variant and ended up eliting one of em. Obviously, getting the elite efficiencies helps in general.

My most successfull is 2 LPL in the side torsos (I put AMS too, but idk how much of an impact it's having), the fill out one of the arms with 4-6 of either sl, ml, mpl. that way I can at least alpha without having to stagger fire. Or, if I am willing to put up with the stagger fire, 3LPL in the torsos, some small lrms in one of the arms for harassing. I'll try ERPPC + gauss in the torsos, or just 2 ERPPCs in the torsos, with some backup lasers in the arms, but it seems with the laser vomit builds are more effective more me.

I agree with the other posters, after trying this mech out MANY different ways I've concluded that 2 LPL or ERLL are needed in the STs. Other than that just make sure you take advantage of the EXE-D 7 energy hard point arm. I run mine with 6 SPL and a MK3 TC.

So, I've just gotten my first EXE from the loyalty rewards, this and the nova are actually my first clan mechs. The IIC pack will be the first set of clan mechs I'll own. Right now I don't have any other clan mechs (out of almost 90 IS mechs lol) so considering there are only three hardpoints on this chassis and I only have the pods that are on it... I've come up with leaving the stock UAC/20 on it, dropping the LRM 20 and artemis, putting in a srm6 (any extra firepower w/ these limited hardpoints is necessary). Then changed the small laser to a LPL. So far its working pretty good, also dumped the targeting computer to put on more ammo for the UAC/20.

First match out with it I did pretty decent, around 3-400 damage, I'll have to pick up a couple more of these to elite the chassis out.

Probably way too late but DONT DO IT! These mechs suck balls so hard. I've had the worst fricking time trying to level these POS mechs. They melt like butter even in tier 3. Seriously this mech needs armor quirks SO bad. As far as I can tell it might as well not even have side torsos because people only hit them 15 percent of the time no matter how much you twist. I have 113 armor on my front and its gone in mere seconds. Its fast, it can actually jump, but those low slung arms and its giant CT hitbox ruin it. All these people will tell you to brawl with it and if you are really patient and choose the right situations to commit, it can hurt things like a Nova........but much like a Nova, its gonna die faster than your enemy if they can aim. My favorite thing I've done with it so far was sell one of the three I won't need after getting the anniversary one for a handsome 7.8 million c-bills. God help you if you grind for it the hard way, no way is this mech chassis worth 75 mil.

You can put some cool brawly builds together on paper, you can run meta guass+blah medium lasers on it, you can run the meta-vomit 2 large pulse 4 er meds on it. My personal most successful build was 3 ER-PPCs. I would be open to softening my attitude if it got some armor quirks like the Awesome.
