The time difference between GMT+3 and my time (EST/EDT) is 7 hours [ahead of my time]. 9:00a.m. EST = 16:00 [4:00p.m. GMT+3]. EDT/EST in my case are the same timezone.

http://wwp.greenwich...one/gmt-plus-3/

I have updated the timezone conversion chart to reflect this information.

One question... You're saying that EST 9 equals 16:00 GMT+3 (my time) but double checking it it would mean 17:00 my time. Do you mean EDT? Or is it really EST?

ugrakarma: Your Round # 1 drop time will be at 4:00 p.m. GMT+3 or 9:00a.m. EST/EDT. :)

Any and all changes (if any, which I can 100% guarantee that there won't be for the schedule) the participants will be notified immediately and they will be reflected in the google docs.

I was just reading through the rules again, and I noticed this:
"In the event of a tie both the combatant with the highest damage score will be declared the winner. (This has been changed, make sure that you are aware of this change as a participant!)"

This is an example of why you need to make a post documenting changes and let us know when a change has been made. I went through every page here and you never mentioned this change. No one wanted to re-read your entire OP everyday because of little changes like this. PLEASE make a post each time you make a change and TELL us what the change was for.

Something simple like the following:

OP UPDATED:
- added new tie condition
- added links to google docs for participants, mechs, and brackets
- replaced prize pool with updated information.

Simply editing the post means something like this can EASILY be missed by your participants. I missed it myself and this is why i'm advising that you make a NEW post telling us what you've changed. I doubt there will be anymore changes like this again before the tournament, but for future reference PLEASE do this.

We do not know when and what your changes are and like I said, things can easily get missed if you expect everyone to "make sure that you are aware of this change as a participant" without being notified that there was a change in the first place.

FYI, I have no problems with this rule, just an example of why you need to make a post everytime something is changed.

No consumables of any kind can be used during the duels. These include but are not limited to: UAV’s, Air Strikes, etc.…You will be disqualified for using them and your opponent will move on to the next round.

I'd like to take this moment to remind people about this rule. Make sure to REMOVE all consumables from your mechs prior to your scheduled match just in case.

Okay. :)

UPDATE: "In the event of a tie the combatant with the highest damage score will be declared the winner. (This has been changed, make sure that you are aware of this change as a participant!)" This was sent in the participants e-mail before the google docs went out and was updated on all threads.

I am fairly confident I can win against both of you but who knows how it will turn out. That's why I put the * because I don't have really any info or experience with you guys to base it upon. Good luck though, I hope you can make it. B)

Alpine Peaks and Tourmaline Desert will not be in the map rotation for this tournament.

Soulstrom, I probably just never noticed this one. So how will the map be randomely generated? I'm assuming you will have a way to pick them at random outside of the lobby, then select that map specifically?

Also, if this is the case, will participants be made aware of what map they are participating on prior to selecting their mech chassis? If so, great, that would actually be rather smart. If not....I will shortly send a PM with my primary concern. Thank you.

EDIT, PM sent. Something funky happened and 2 accidentally sent... lol

No. Participants will not be made aware of the maps they are dropping onto before the match begins. This is the element of random chance and surprise keeping participants on their feet. Tourmaline Desert and Alpine peaks are not included in the rotation because of their size. They are just to large for a 1 .v. 1 duel. All other maps were tested and are viable. I realize that someone will probably mention Terra Therma as being another too large map, but it is a viable map to duel on and has been tested. :)

Once a participant enters the lobby they will not be able to quit and then rejoin. This would lead to disqualification, also there really isn't enough time for participants to be able to drop in, go "oh map...," drop out and switch modules, etc... and then drop back in. Yes I am going to randomly generate the maps. The map will be selected before the participants are sent invites to join the private lobby. Participants should be prepared to fight on all PGI maps (excluding alpine peaks and tourmaline desert).

Okay, my concern still stands. Please see my PM.

Solahma made an excellent point and I want to address it here:

"Hey! Regarding another question I posted. Aside from the main question, well, depending on the answer. If participants are not allowed to change their mech after a map is selected, please be aware that a player can have several of the same variant, equip different builds on each one, and change that depending on the map that is selected. Want to make sure you are aware of that fact that it would be very difficult to moderate ;)"

So...I realize that people have multiple variants of the same mech. Like the Hunchback for example or well pretty much any mech out there.

Simply put I can't micromanage everything, but I can see what mech you drop into the lobby with when you first come in. It is expected that this will be the mech you are going to duel in. :) All participants know what mechs are out in the MWO world and what mech type/class you will be dueling in. You will not know the map before entering the lobby. So be prepared. There has to be some form of randomized generation and to make sure that participants have that during this tournament.

I understand that there will be a temptation to switch mechs based on what your opponent has brought. Resist the temptation.

But you need to have set rules.

So:

- We will not know what map prior to selecting our specific mech.
- We are not allowed to change that mech (or the build) after joining the lobby, fair enough
- A player could still change between the same mech variant without anyone knowing to give themselves an advantage for that map (hot map? Just hop in your OTHER TBR-Prime that is better build for this map).

The ONLY way to know is if that player was readied up, he will immediately be unreadied when selecting the different mech. But "oops i accidentally clicked ready".

Micromanaging is one thing, rules and enforcement is another. There are easy ways to avoid this and you will have to chose. This is a tournamant, that people paid for, with pretty nice rewards. i'd hate for someone to get shorthanded because of a loophole.

RULES UPDATE: To address the concerns brought to me by some participant(s) I have added to the google doc and the original thread some information about dropping into the private lobby and what can be done once you have. :)

I have added two sections to the google doc.

1. Once you join the private lobby.

2. Disconnects

Why are we having this update? Because honestly this matter never crossed my mind as I just assumed that you are all wonderful people.

Thanks for your cooperation on this matter and lets have a great tournament.

UPDATE: I have e-mailed all participants with these informational updates for their records.

Yeah, for now. I will re-post when it goes back up. Twitch is giving me some issues because I am using a mac with bootcamp.

Streaming test coming to a computer screen near you today. I hope. :)

I would really hope so too, but we've already had another 1v1 tournament where a person was found to be less than wonderful. Most people probably know what I'm talking about...

For those that don't, we had a PGI confirmed cheater win the Heavy bracket of a 1v1 tournament put on by Ardai, Mech Masters tournament. Was extremely fun and I would recommend any other event put on by him. But it definitely showcased how some people are certainly not as wonderful as we would wish :(

OKAY! I got twitch working. It only took a extremely nice mic I use for capturing oral histories with.

I will begin streaming again at 8:30 p.m. EST if you want to jump onto the twitch channel and watch me test the system and play in some of my fanciers mech.

I'll hop in and give some feedback. Could also meet you in-game to test the private lobby stuff and run through the process to work out any kinks with using the spectator tool and organizing the lobby.

Is there going to be an official Teamspeak server for this event? Perhaps we should utilize Comstar NA or NGNG? Have you given any thought to that? Might be able to hit-up Ardai for the Mech Masters TS3 server? would be useful for asking question, talking with the participants before/after matches. Very quick way to get a hold of someone.

No there is no teamspeak that I have set-up, but our unit does have ventrilo. Let me speak with the server host and see if they are alright with having everyone on, but I know we only have capacity for a little over 40+. Additionally we could use raidcall or if someone would like to put up their teamspeak for the day that would be appreciated. :)

If that is the case, it would probably be best to meet on the No Guts No Galaxy teamspeak. I can try to get a hold of one of the official crew over there and okay it. It is a public server, but maybe they can give you admin rights for that day and setup a special channel for the event just for the day.

I'll check and let you know.

EDIT:

I messaged SeanLang (Phil) over at the No Guts No Galaxy forums. I let him know about the event and that we would like to use their server for the event. Also, if possible, to create a few temporary channels and grant you temporary admin privileges to move people into different channels if you needed to.

The channels would look something like

>Compete For The Cure Tournament
>>Waiting Room
>>Dropship 1
>>Dropship 2

If people showed up early, they can hang out in the Waiting Room. Participants can move to the Dropship channels for their respective matches.

Anyway, I'll let you know if it works out.
