Whale is pre nerfed with atrocious handling, Hellbringer is only 60 tons and therefor not as much armor,

Are you joking? Whale actually gets movement bonus quirks and HBR has ECM + high mounted weapon hardpoints.

Why not bring the other lights closer to the ACH instead?

I saw the light queue drop to around 15% again yesterday.

If only...

the 3 second every light in the game...it would be glorious.

The ach is the only mech in this game I've ever considered making a thread about. I alphad one twice last night in the back with 2x LPL 5xERSM and didn't blow a single torso off. And I have a 30 ping. I can take down a madcat faster than these things (in my HBR).

Why even bother do so? Just to satisfy those crying out for blood, especially those trying desperately to protect their position on the food chain?

Because due to its clan XL engine, ECM, and fantastic hit boxes it's already the most durable light in the game. Throw in clan energy weapons and it's gonna be a monster regardless. As such, it is poor balancing for it to have more health than every single IS light except the panther 10p.

On the flip side, I'd love to understand why you think the cheeto needs an additional 8 arm structure, 7 side torso structure, and 15 leg structure to be competitive to IS lights when it's IS side competitors the spider, firestarter, and jenner (except oxide which has a tiny +4 leg structure quirk) don't have them.

PGI did not blindly put in those quirks. They did it for a reason. So the better course of action is to ask them why. Have any of you bothered to ask? Did it ever cross your mind that maybe it's part of the rebalancing they have been talking about?

Not everything should be solved via nerfs, especially the red-headed stepchildren.

I'd say the Cheeta is a good mech and maybe slightly OP. If they took armor quirks off I think it would be perfectly fine.

I am not a good light pilot. When I use one I can have a decent game, or I can get rekt. They do not seem to be invincible when I am in the cockpit.

But I imagine with a really good pilot they are awesome.

It needs to be competitive with the other top mechs in the game, not the other lights.

The Cheetah can be nerfed when all the top hitters are nerfed. I'd prefer that actually, the powercreep has been intense over the past year.

Sure let's over quirk the **** outta every light in the game. Rather than scale back the one, or 2 if you include the firestarter that are over quirk, that's a great solution!

Why, are your fatties feeling very threatened by lights right now? Are lights no longer the cannon fodder you want them to be?

2015-09-01 22:01 GMT - Also known as the US Primetime, lights are currently at 15%!

Of course not! Lights are supposed to be cannon fodder. Their sole purpose is for racking up c-bill and XP rewards for players running the other classes.

People want lights to remain the red-headed stepchildren of MWO? Well then, let's force a 6xL/3xM/2xH/1xA drop composition and remove any wait time release valves. Let's see how people like that!

I did ask but got no response. But PGI very rarely talks about why they set quirks they way they do so that's not really a surprise. It could be they wanted to use the cheeto to test what they feel like the high end of light mech power should be (some day they're totally gonna start using the test server to test this crap) or it could be that they're making it super powered since it's the first decent clan light and they wanted to sell as many cheeto packs as possible before it goes on sale for cbills and basically no one pays IRL money for them any more. Of course if they nerf the cheeto come 9/22 without a good and thorough explanation, I suspect there are going to be a whole lot of justifiable P2W complaints.

Still, I'd rather you be right that they set the quirks to try and increase the overall durability of light mechs to attract more people to them since getting 1 shot drives newbies away from the class. Well that and since there are so few light pilots newbie light pilots constantly drop against the dedicated light pilots and get ROFL stomped in the traditional turn and burn light dog fight. Personally I really don't think making lights tougher is going to help much because even the cheeto with its clan XL, great hit boxes, and stupidly strong quirks is still fragile if you screw up. The main difference between a firestarter or jenner and cheeto is that a cheeto pilot can screw up once and not die to ST loss or a 40 point alpha strike to a leg (well that and they have ECM and devestating close rangefire power for optimal assassin type b&z play and light dog fighting). This is the wrong way to make playing lights more palatable to the masses in my opinion since it teaches bad habits (rushing through the enemy lines and relying on the hitboxes and structure quirks to save you, circle strathing, etc). However, most of the player base won't touch light mechs at all so maybe I'm wrong.

Yeah, ridiculous. And lights already being the most least used weight class in the game. Reading the forums they should be invincible killing machines with OP weapons and lag shields that dodge everything while just running in front of enemy team. And yet the light queue is often at 10%...

This.

As long as the Light queue stays 20% or less and the Heavy queue 30% or more, it makes it impossible to take these ACH B*tch Threads seriously.

Um I run mostly mediums to begin with. So no my fatties don't feel threatened, they mostly sit in the hanger. The bottom line is they over did it with the AC, that it can core out and kill an assault in 2 seconds flat, never mind that it can have 6 mechs alpha the **** outta it and still walk away unphased should say something. Do you really want ALL lights to be like that? I certainly don't and I actually do hop in lights from time to time.

Some of us dedicated light pilots will give them up if balance is not brought to the force. I don't want to play the ACH in its current form, nor do I want to play the FS9 in its current form. Given how easily they dominate the other lights, the entire class for me now is on thin ice. I still have enough games where I only encounter one ACH, and I generally do well in those matches. But everytime I drop and see the 3 ACH enemy team composition, I want to log off or get in something that can kill them (pretty much any other class of mech).

I drove a Locust through enemy lines last night. Everyone lazzor-vomited all around me. Splashed themselves. Alphas here and alphas there. Yay laser meta, because no one could keep their beams on me no matter how hard they try. Got out of there with my armor a nice yellow, only down to 87% overall health and on my way to a very good match.

I don't own a Cheetah. Nasty clan mechs. Maybe they do have some buggy hit-boxes. Who knows. But did we ever stop to consider that, given our current laser-vomit meta, that just maybe we don't aim as well as we imagine we do, and fast-movers are just better at spreading the damage?

Oh wait, I forgot. Nobody likes lights. They're nasty OP little buggers, all of them. Nerf the hell out of them.

It would be more useless than whatever you view as the most useless light in the game.

Those are sorely needed buffs.
