As expected. Justified nerf. The question what will get nerfed.

The thing is almost unbeatable with bad HSR (and i experienced it alot, taped and documented) but i also i have killed some without too much hassle when the server god was with me.

If it's for structure quirks then it's all justified.

Also lol at the not broken "technically". It's hitboxes are where they should be on the mech.

Do you believe there is nothing wrong (and I mean 'wrong' in the broadest sense, including 'inappropriate') with the Cheetah's hitboxes?

I have experienced - many times - hitting one which is shut down, full square in the CT, and it takes little or no damage. I've experienced that both playing in them, and fighting against them.

I've never seen it as frequently on any other Mech. It leads me to believe there may be genuine technical hitbox issues with the Cheetah, as we have seen before on some other Mechs in the past (eg gaps where shots could sail through, that required hitbox correction).

Genuine question. If it's not hitboxes, what is it that so often leads the Cheetah to not take damage to the CT even when it's standing still?

It's pretty sad that people say there is nothing wrong with it.
Are you effing serious,it's broke/op as ****.
Get off your crutches and stop the denial.
After it gets de quirked it will still be the best light.Just as the TW is still the best heavy(tho i've stopped playing it coz it's boring).

You must have missed the part on the previous page where I said I owned it, mastered it, enjoyed it and that the nerfing is completely justified.

I'm hardly going to stop enjoying it just because it becomes more brittle or whatever.

It was about time.
Now that the crying babies will have the only decent light clan mech broken we won't see any more of those annoying post about the cheetah i hope.

They will just go back to whining about Firestarters.

The first fact of MWO is that people will scream nerf, look at all of the moaning about lasers
LRM TO STRONK.....nerfed....how many times?
SRM...well ok that was a bug that a player had to find
What three generations of Gauss nerfs
PPCs have been up and down, mostly down since OB
Ballistics lost x3 range, AC20 ghost heat, UAC nerfbat (right after a muppet sale) AC5 changes C/UAC spread etc
c/er lasers have been nerfed two or three times
Stormcrow and Timber Nerfinated™

...and people still whine about laster vommit.

Justified nerf for sure. I have played them, mastered them and enjoyed them, but tbh it's rather absurd that the obvious prediced best mech in Clan Wave 3 was the only one shipped with quirks, and good ones too... The ACH will be great without quirks too, but I am guessing it will keep many of the quirks at reduced strength...

As a light pilot, saying that the light class is my favorite to play, it is very apparent that the majority of people do not know how to effectively deal with a light mech that is on their ass. This is part of the problem but I also think the ACH needs to be taken down a peg.

That's the one infrequent bug that they will likely be fixing on the 8th. Much the same way they fixed the hitbox trouble on the raven and the spider once they could Identify it.

That said, I've only ever encountered that bug once. And I've gone out of my way to kill cheetahs, as so many cry how hard they are to kill. I have found that their reputation is greatly exaggerated.

Wait.. can it be true?

Russ actualy read the forums?!

OMG! :o

Can't believe they nerf something before its out for cbills... Finally!

Or maybe its a "token nerf" so they can say, yeah, see, we nerfed the Cheeto before it was out for cbills.. so don't bother us when we nerf the Black knight right after it's out for cbills..

Time will tell though.. We'll see if this is the start of a trend, or just a "token nerf"..

The DW anf TBW might be tough customers but they actually take damage when you shoot at them and hit.

Um, no, the predicted best mech of Wave 3 was the Cauldron Born.

PS: The Shadow Cat also shipped with quirks, but they weren't enough to save it from mediocrity...

Scatman just needs 10% - 15% energy heat reduction and its good to go. As long as it applies to PPCs, things too squishy to use facetime weapons imo.

I didn't realize hit box fixes are 'balance changes'. Oh... they're not?

Then doesn't matter if it's got no quirks or negative quirks. Just like the firecheater... broken be broken.

Nothing is. A good player can get a good score in most Mechs. But balance relates to all players, not just the good ones.

Cheetah's hitboxes are broken. That's the main issue. I benefit from it when I'm piloting one, and I suffer from it when I'm trying to kill one.

The game will be better for everyone once Cheetah is less invulnerable.

HSR in conjunction with high server load.

No but hit registration between differing pings is still terrible.

The hitboxes are as hard to hit as any other light, which basically comes down to HSR if you have really good aim.

That being said, I really just think it doesn't need as many structure buffs as it has. Clan XL makes its torso tanky enough, just quirk its legs to be as strong as a Firestarter, but not stronger, and see where things are.

Debuff the Cheetah (does it really count as a nerf when all they're doing for a start is taking off the quirks, which are not innate to the chassis?) and PGI might just restore the wider variety of lights we very briefly saw driving around after the HSR fix that made FS9s start taking damage properly.

If it still overperforms, then smack it again- else buff the other lights to compensate. It makes no sense whatsoever to have twelve different types of light 'Mechs in the game when only two of them are regarded as competitive... and apart from a few people who are either in denial or lying through their teeth to defend their favorite toy, it's pretty clear which one needs to be taken down a peg to give the rest a chance to play on reasonably even terms.

Then why not buff lights instead to get close to ACH and FS levels? Then maybe, just maybe, the light queue will stop lingering at 10% or less once the ACH novelty wears off?

Or are people's favorite fatties real sacred cows?

Again, provide evidence or stop spreading such nonsense. Mcgral18 has a video showing the ACH's tight hit boxes. Even Russ says so. Do you have one that says otherwise?

Sheesh! PGI does something right for once (i.e. ACH hit boxes mirrors visual appearance) and people complain even more about it. <smh>
