Hello PGI, fellow Mechwarriors,

I know achievements are in the works. I also know that the development team is very small. I personally am a dedicated hardcore achievement hunter in all the games I have played seriously (WoW, D3, SC2, BF3, ...). I also spend a lot of my free time with game design and indie game development. This way, I am very experienced with the whole achievement thing. I hope the following list can complement and enrich your achievement ideas.
  • Incoming Missiles - Get the killing blow on an enemy Mech with LRMs while it is tagged and/or NARCed by another ally.
  • Surgical Strike - Destroy an enemy Mech by killing its cockpit with laser weapons
  • Gingerbread Cookie - Win a match with under 50% health remaining.
  • Perfect Victory - Win a match without losing any Mechs on your team.
  • Conquest Domination - Win a conquest match by achieving 750 resources, having all 5 points capped and the enemy team having less than 375 resources gathered.
  • Master Warrior - Win an assault round without taking critical damage while piloting an assault Mech which has everything unlocked, all module slots equipped and score at least one killing blow.
  • Consumerism - Completely use up two consumables in one match.

  • Boom goes the dynamite - Destroy an enemy Mech by exploding its ammo.
  • Game Genie - Finish a round with 100 or more match score.
  • Derby Master - Win a round in which you have participated in every kill (assists+killing blows = number of enemy Mechs).
  • Guardian Angel - Receive 5 or more Saviour Kills in one round.
  • Mechwarrior Veteran - Unlock the master upgrade for at least one Light, Medium, Heavy and Assault Mech each.
  • Do it yourself Support - Kill an enemy Mech with any kind of missile weapon while it is tagged by you
  • Fire zhe missilez - Launch more than 1500 LRMs in a single round. You must also score at least one kill assist and win the round.

  • Hamstring - Get the killing blow on an enemy Mech by destroying its remaining leg.
  • <Map Name> Allstar - In a single round destroy an enemy, get a kill assist, get a spotting assist, get a saviour kill bonus, leg an enemy, capture a resource node, and remain alive until the round is won.
  • Passive Aggression - Win an assault round without any Mech on both teams dying.
  • Hot Streak - Win 5 rounds of any type in a row.
  • Unstoppable Force - Win 10 rounds of any type in a row.
  • Dakka Dakka - Fire at least 4000 rounds of MG shells and get the killing blow on an enemy Mech in the same round.
  • David vs Goliath - While controlling a Light or Medium Mech, get the killing blow on a heavy and an assault Mech in the same round.

  • Nailbiter - Win a Conquest round by points while the enemy team has 700 or more points.
  • Scrooge McDuck - Earn 300,000 or more c-bills in a single round.
  • World Traveller - Win one round in any game mode on every map.

  • Veteran "X" Pilot - While piloting chassis/variant "X", Receive 12,500 match score, get 500 killing blows, 500 spotting assists, win 250 rounds of assault, capture 500 control points. (values and requirements should be adjusted depending on variant/chassis (e.g. less spotting assists for assaults, less killing blows for lights. Reward should be a special cockpit item which can not be bought or, even better, a "battle worn" camo, possibly similar to founder's Atlas or Misery)
  • Have at 'em Boys - Destroy a leg of a Light Mech using a ballistic weapon.
  • Dedicated Pilot - Win a match every day for three consecutive days.

  • Meltdown - Get the killing blow on an enemy Mech while Override Shutdown is engaged and your Mech is at or above 110% heat.
  • Peashooter - Get the killing blow on an enemy Mech which is travelling at 100 kph or faster using a ballistic weapon.
  • Duck Hunt - Kill a Light Mech which is travelling at 100kph or faster by destroying its cockpit using a ballistic weapon.
  • Heavy Metal BBQ - Push an enemy Mech, which is heavier than yours, over 90% heat using Flamers.
  • Steiner Scout Lance - Win a match in any mode where one lance consists of four different Atlas variants while being aligned with House Steiner.
  • Brains - Get the killing blow on an enemy Mech while piloting a Centurion which has at least 3 body parts missing.
  • Pay To Win Not - Destroy a Champion variant Mech while piloting the same non-champion variant.
  • Light Show - In the same round, get a killing blow, win the round, fire 4 different types of energy weapons, and do not overheat at any point.
  • Trogolydte - Kill two enemies in a cave.
I hope you will be able to use some of these or base some achievements upon these. If you add achievements you should do it in an interesting way. "Kill 1000 Mechs" is a viable achievement, but it is also kinda boring. I hope to see both kinds of achievements when they finally launch.

Regards,
BlacKcuD

That's not a very good achievement; achievements should have at least a little difficulty. When they release the Urbanmech 12v12 will likely be in use so you should achieve this achievement shortly after your 5th round starts. Of course I guess it might take a little longer because the enemy team might also include some urbanmechs and perhaps some of your teammates will also have some urbies and steal your kills. A real achievement would be if you could somehow kill an urbie, good luck with that!

I would have voted for both "love it" and "don't need it" ... Acheivements are pure fluff, IMO.

That said, some of these would also be fun / funny:
- Kill Stealer: X kills, with Y% of the total damage done to those mechs ... different levels: Basic: 1 kill, 25% of the total damage done; Veteran: 2, 20%; Elite: 3, 15%; Master: 4: 12.5%; Legendary: 5, 10%.
- Dev Hunter: Kill a PGI / IGP employee
- Assassin: Kill Russ or Bryan
- Screen Peeker: Kill the streamer during an official live stream
- Nail Biter (Assault): Get a Defensive Kill against the last enemy mech when your base is more than 90% captured
- Nail Biter (Conquest): Capture (or un capture) the resource points in conquest that bring your team back from behind to win by less than 10 points (i.e.: 750-741)
- Last Man Standing: You're the last surviving friendly mech, and kill the last remaining enemy mech
- Squirrel: in a light mech, you're damaged by every enemy mech the rest of your team kills (and your team wins)

Edit: forum formatting seems to not like bullet lists at the moment ...

Ok? Kill 50 Enemies in a STOCK UrbanMech. It was just tongue in cheek anyways. I wasn't being serious, however, I am serious about the following:

I want an Urban Mech

OK, killing something in stock-loadout would dfntly be a challenge. However, I think Achievements should not be designed in such a way that they force you to play bad. An achievement could very well be "die from falling damage", but then you would have lots of people trying to kill themselves with jumpjets rather than playing decently. You don´t wanna ruin the game for all the non-achievement hunters out there

I would really appreciate it if, as has been suggested in some other good threads, achievements were also implemented as medals or campaign ribbons, preferably something we might even be able to have on display in our cockpit.

Secondly, I would love to have achievements that linked into consistent performance over several matches.

Thirdly, I would love to see recurring achievements that offer C-Bill, XP, Loyalty Point or GXP rewards.

I prefer achievements that actually reward skill and ability, such as something like:

"Achieve at least 3 kills in one match, and win the match. Each kill must be made by a different Energy weapon."

or

"Achieve at least 3 kills in one match, and win the match. Each kill must be made by a different category of weapon; Ballistic, Energy and Missiles"

So, implement interesting skill-based achievements like this, that require a player to run a mixed loadout if they want to achieve them, reward them with XP, C-Bills etc. for achieving them, and reward them even more if they can do it consistently, say over 3-5, or heck, even 10 matches in a row. Then make them repeatable achievements as well, and you have a system for rewarding both player skill, and which will encourage a variety of 'Mechs and loadouts, and thirdly will help balance match rewards based on a player's preferences for playstyle.

I still would want to see the basic ones like "Kill 1000 mechs in a AWS-8R" or whatever. They should have different, unique camos available to people that achieve certain kill levels with a chassis. Either that, or special camos you unlock when you master a mech, hit 2x/4x/8x the amount of XP needed to master, etc.

Also, maybe a camo that looks old (kinda like how the Founders mechs used to look) for maybe 30 days (720 hours) of seat time in a certain chassis...some sort of battle worn camo skin.

we already have another very long involved list (all of my suggestions are there):
http://mwomercs.com/...__fromsearch__1

like i said before on the other one. i think these should be on a per match basis because achievements that you can only earn once are quickly forgotten once they are earned. per match awards are the gift that keeps on giving and keep players engaged much longer.

I have read your post, and I like it. However, the concept you describe are not achievements as they are known to the online audience. Your suggestions are more like match rewards or prizes. I enjoy both concepts and yes, regular achievements are forgotten after a while, but if there is a way to see the top achievers it introduces a new layer of competition. Match rewards are forgotten even faster, because after the match is over, nobody cares anymore.

The best solution (in my books) would be to have both and possibly even add achievements which are something like "Be the MVP 50 times".
