4J got so little structure for a mech that actually needs an XL, while the 4H and 4P kinda just randomly got the shaft.

All these structure and armour buffs are for naught though until they put something in place to curb the massive alphas being thrown around.

I'd like to say, not true. This mechs been working for me since I first started to play MW:O back in 2012 (or basically 2013). Still works well to this day even. (Which is probably kinda surprising.)
Though, I do believe that the LRM quirks needed to go. That made things kinda crazy.

So two historically strong brawler mediums are blind as bats in CQB.
What the ****?
RIP HBK-4P.

The structure quirks for the brawlier ones kinda track.. But 4P?
There is way too much difference in agility between the various models... Acceleration +60 to -50... That's just confusing and weird.
And the system for determining sensor quirks again almost sorta tracks.. But not really.
I find myself just confused.
Thanks for posting them all on one page to make my confusion easier to look at. =)

People who profess to using it as an LRM boat, so therefor they should never get hit so they can take an XL on a mech well known for tanking a lot of damage on one side torso...?

I ran mine as a LRMBoat....and only used STD. It's still a bloody HBK.

These new stats are being tested,so don't go rushing into a decision that may never make it to the live game...

Yeah but by being an LRM Boat you are better at medium ranges and thus more protected. So you can dedicate yourself to more ammo and/or Other equipment.
I always use an XL and it only fails me when the team folds, or a lucky light closes the gap.
For other HBK's I agree, but the 4J was the exception, at least for me.

I tend to be too in the thick of things, even in my 4J

Fair enough, just proves that even on a single chassis there are variations of the same thing.
My Min safe distance to me is 400m. Enough time to duck and dodge, and still good enough to reduce the flight time on my LRMs to a level that I can calculate on other targets distance to cover.
So for me, an XL feels right.

for me, 500 meters is my max optimal range, I prefer around 300..... allows me to add my lasers for pinpoint work, and I can be much more brutally efficient with my LRMS. Most matches, I end up out of ammo, and using my lasers to clean things up....usually end with about half a mech, 700-800 damage and 3-5 kills. About the only map I tend to do more range work is Caustic and Alpine

Thats cool, I tend to not shoot my lasers right away, unless a target presents itself. As that allows me to remain more unseen by people shooting LoS weapons. Again different methodologies on the same chassis, Its neat to read. If it works for you, all the better. I developed my own preferences based on trial and error.
Plus the higher XL allows me to shoot and scoot better as well.
