this is assuming there is any telemetry; you mean to tell me the telemetry told pgi to overquirk the tdr to shoot so much erppc? when those quirks were not really a thing?

or is it more feasible that a pgi employee with access to the source and preference for tdr just made that happen?
you also saw it in the next quirk pass for the dragon, it seems like somebody was called a name for piloting the useless dragon,
and it made a 180 turn when it started shooting at the rate it does now, by which point there was not many quirked mechs to compete, it smells like it was a completely knee jerk reaction to the dragon hate, with no previous thought

and it doubly smells of preference when mechs like the quickdraw and awesome never even got an op quirk, they kept quirking instead of going back to really help the chassis in need; the original idea was thrown right in the garbage bin.

why? maybe because nobody at pgi was driving a quickdraw.

it sure makes more sense than assuming they had a plan from those early quirk days

safe to say I've attended more than most. And perhaps that is part of the problem. Aside from the "Clan Sneak Peek", essentially NOBODY has actually contributed to them in meaningful numbers or quantity to give actual data to counter PGIs ideas. Sorry you think posting your opinions on the Forums should override actual telemetry from gameplay, but it doesn't.

Don't like what you are seeing in the Mechlab? Then play the crap out of it and expose it.

That also hasn't happened. Considering that our Forum Regulars tend to be just as over-reactionary as Paul's Nerfhammers, seems like Pots complaining about Kettles to me.

Tell that to UI 2.0.

The truth of the matter is that these PTS sessions aren't for actually gathering feedback, contrary to their advertisement. Their actual purpose is merely to test hardware, to make sure that the game can start up successfully without crashing or having huge glitches/bugs. This is actually the same way that Blizzard uses their own public tests as well.

PS: Do you seriously think you need to gather weeks of "telemetry" to figure out the problem with the picture I'm pasting below?

Lastly, you're assuming that PGI even knows how to interpret their telemetry.

For example, remember when PGI wanted to buff LRMs, but then quickly dialed back the buff before even a week passed? They forgot that people will always flock to something new and shiny for the first few weeks, and thus inflate any data gathered about that item. If they had given it more time, it probably would have been just fine after people returned to their normal habits.

This. Bishop I think needs to get some air or something playing this game all day long every day and frequenting the forums must be doing terrible things for his life at this point because his logic sucks. It doesn't matter how many times you play a certain mech frankly a lot of us dont have hours everyday devoted to this game due to work and raising a family but some are lucky and can just play a game all day long not to mention play around in forums. Frankly not sure how he does it I mean mechwarrior was at one time a really groovy thing but this new mechwarrior isn't anywhere near worth the same praise.

since pretty much no one played it, did they have any data to counter it?

But hey, I know, I'm the optimistic white knight, etc.

You guys are the hard ones to figure out.....PGI can do no right......and yet you can't seem to find anything better to do.

Huh.

they have no data against it you say? ok. they dont.

what data do they have saying it's going to work?

the computer thing? well we're telling them that it was a mistake to balance it this way, we'll see what happens.

if this computer thing overrides real data then we're screwed

they probably used the tutorial AI to simulate battles. and then they call it data

I'm saying if all of you are so mad at this game, for so long, instead of just standing around talking, you should man up, put your money where your mouth is and take your ball and go home.

Maybe that will send the message that your staying here and crying, hasn't.

Got no problem with people being critical and having opinions. Do have a problem with people making a huge stink but not actually having the conviction to follow through with their threats and leave.

Mass exodus, PGI crashes and burns, you get what you want, right? Has been what Vass and crew have been after for 3 years or more. Do it.

I shouldn't have to be a bouncer.

really? Cause if I had "as much of a life" as some of you insinuate you have over me, I sure wouldn't spend my free time whining on the forums for a game I loathe.

why now? because of the pts? i might do it when it comes live, it's not your choice, so you really got no say in the matter.

who's to say i loathe the game, i loathe what is on pts. sure. the game? no. i wouldn't play it if i did DUH

should i not loathe the pts? you're meaning to tell me i should be happy they were planning to nerf the atlas and aws on the 22nd??? and balance direct fire for sensors?

and maybe you will tell me that real men adapt or some dime store philosophy, when in fact the rebalance was supposed to make the chassis more even not the exact opposite

almost enough to make me hope they do go live with it then......except I know it still wouldn't clear out the last of the riffraff.

Ah well. been listening to the same double handful of people complain about absolutely everything in this game since Closed Beta, might actually miss it if it was gone.

"its not Done, Not Even Close, but we are gonna Put it in the PTS to see what the Community thinks,
PGI is giving us an Advanced Look at their New Balance System which is in Alpha,
lets try to act like adults and not like the Sky is falling please? Thanks, :)

Again, look to the past for clues on what to expect in the future.

A few values might shift around on the quirks here and there, and the really huge values like +1000% twist speed will be gone, but I'm not expecting it to be modified to any large extent. Most mechs will still probably have quirks that aren't even close to what their role should be, every mech will probably have negative quirks even though only a handful even remotely deserve negatives. Mechs that weren't overpowered will probably still have weak quirks or even nerfs. The underlying equipment itself will probably still have imbalances built in.

Is it possible that I'm wrong about this? Yes. Is it probable that I'm wrong? I doubt it. :(

PS: The sky didn't even have enough time to fall, it got vaporized on contact.

Are you new here? Hi, I'm Bishop, let me introduce you to the usual level of complaining in our forums no matter the state of the game........... (folks apparently haven't learned what "white noise" is)......... ;)

Don't flatter yourself.

And the reason we're "still here," cluttering up your precious game is because some of us are interested in commenting on the facts and discussing the trainwreck that is what they put on the PTS, not fantasizing about what PGI "might" do... someday... after they get around to fixing everyone else they "might" do... someday.

The fact is that anyone who thinks this system is remotely close to working is kidding themselves.

If a car company released an "alpha" car that wouldn't start or the wheels fell off, are we all supposed to just nod sagely and say, "Well, it's okay - we shouldn't notice that because it's alpha, and I'm sure they'll do better next time!"

Now, look to the past to see what'll probably happen in the future... does PGI exactly have a great track record with this type of stuff? And what does it say when they think this mess was close enough to release to be testable and shown to the public.

Facts, not conjecture. And the facts - and history of previous decisions - do not bode well.

Try not to get passive-aggressively personal, it leaves a sour taste in the mouth on reading and weakens your argument. Bishop is and has always been an active and engaged member of the MWO community. Hinting that this is somehow an economic or moral defect is contemptible and runs close to the line of personal attack, which is against the forum rules of conduct.

The PTS load is a system test. The numbers will be wrong. The game mechanics will be borked. It is unlikely to be the final release. Complaining about it is like declaring a car as being unfit for use because it consists of four wheels and an unpunched sheet of metal that haven't been assembled yet. Worse case, if PGI messes up, the community can work with them to fix it. What's the big deal?
