Atlas D had TWO TIMES the structure to make it tanky...

I HAVE FAITH IN THIS REBALANCE. (btw, I'm a clan pilot, but I miss Atlas being scary when running into one around a corner)

While the Atlas-D got love... the other Atlases were not so lucky.

I guess in PGI's vision role warfare means IS being a punchbag for Clans.

Considering this is all PTS, will change A LOT, and won't be pushed to the live server according to Russ "Until it is ready." I'd say just keep your hopes up and wait to see what happens.

An atlas that takes roughly 50% more damage than it can now scares me a bit, not gonna lie. I might be tempted to **** my pants turning a corner into them if the balance is done right. They'll be the mechs they should, taking hit after hit and just KEEP LURCHING TOWARDS YOU firing its weapons in your face.

aaand every other atlas variant got basically nothing. While losing all offensive quirks.

Did you watch the video? This is going to be a process we go through here, not just a 1 time PTS event and then a patch on the live server. We may end up going through dozens of PTS changes and trials before the changes get to the point that they're ready to move to the live server finally.

While going through the list I noticed the King Crab 0000 had 170 extra structure points (the others did not at all). I don't understand why but it made me laugh and like it :)

That thing would be pretty tanky if they'd release is like that.

So they made one Atlas kinda of interesting but did not fix the balance problems with IS and Clan. So mechs like the Atlas DDC in that system are still not very viable.

It's ~33% more, not 50.

It should have been both structure and armor. But that's my opinion.

It should be a optimal mixture between pushing with weapons instead of wandering with disabled weapons because your armor still get breached within a few shots.

It doesnt matter how much structure you give it, if armor is still weak your opened up components gets critted anyhow and still make your weapons disable within seconds.

I personally think which is difficult should be a mix of both structure and armor, because when making a push with it you should perhaps lose one third or half of your firepower instead of full and wander like a zombie because of the structure quirks and continue to be a punching bag with no weapons or just two lasers in your CT.

The plus side is that both arms has it and you can it shield longer.

Atlas D hat almost 50 Points of additional Structure for every Location.

But that makes it not Tanky!

It only makes it a Sandbag with an increased TTK bcs your Weapons are gone as fast as in every other Atlas!

(Armor protects Weapons and when Armor gone = Weapons gone right next....if you have 50 Points more Structure at that Point does not matter bcs you are combat neutered).

All the Atlases should get a similar treatment. I saw a whole lance struggle to finish an Atlas one time. It just wouldn't die and it was effectively tanking for the rest of its team.

I know PGI wants to give each Atlas variant a specific role, but they should all have very substantial structure bonuses

@Sarlic - Is there a thread that shows all the "new" quirks in PTS for all mechs? I haven't had a chance too test it yet and would like to see possible changes.

If they give the Atlas its glowing eyes back in addition to its tankiness, then total victory for the AS7.

Atlas were tanky because a single or set of mechs cant bring 70 dmg on it every 3 seconds endlessly, not because it has 14,450 points of armor....

Ofc, yes, it has alot of armor, but the amount of firepower being brought to bear on it wasnt nearly as much as we have in MWO...

I hope this rebalance looks at all aspects of this game, up to and including heat scales, sustained damage output, alpha strikes and the whole shebang..

Make it where unless you are group firing on a single assault, you have to empty your ammo bins into it...yes, Ithink assaults should be tanky like they were in CBT. I couldnt play any better then your average pet dog and I was taking unholy amounts of fire before dying in those trial atlas. They felt tanky, just to bad I sucked to bad to make use of it.

Pretty much this. Sign of the times, and the power creep this game has. The Atlas is still scary and tanky as frak in the stock circuits. Hopefully this can come back to the public queues:

The ONE good thing from PTS, yes. I legit miss screaming out, "OH ****, AN ATLAS; WE'RE ******." to my friends.

If all the Variants of the Atlas got those buffs it would have been awsome. But the new system is so messed up they couldn't even manage to do that. Its sad how fail it is.
