"Wahhh why is the -BH2 is capped at a 275 engine while all the others are 360? It should be the same!"

Because there is a formula that PGI has used ever since ever that determines the max engine any mech can equip. For heavy mechs, it's 1.2 times the stock engine. In this case, 1.2 multiplied by the stock 225 gives us a maximum rating of 270. Be glad they actually gave us a 275 instead. =P

And yes, 1.2 times the stock 300 gives us 360.

What about the Panther, and the Urbanmech, and the 315 engine wolfhound, and the 385 Black Knight, or any of the other exceptions, or the GHR-5J?

Do those follow the same rule??

There have been exceptions in the past.

Its an IS mech so only IS can use it in community warfare.

I know I'm gonna get tons of flak for this but hey, it's the internet so I guess I can voice my thoughts anyways...
A few days ago I lost my job. Still, I don't have anyone to take care of so I could get this mech, but at a considerable effort (mind you I'm not in the US so the exchange rate is killing me) but of course I had to analyze the net worth of this pack. And really, it is near to zero if you factor out the fanboyism. First off, the early bird rewards are insignificant, even if you get the Wolverine, you are not getting anything novel, there is a WVR that does the same just without MASC in-game right now...
Second, the Marauder itself adds nothing to the game in terms of load-outs. Anything this could do the TBR or Victor already does. I dunno, maybe use XLs for community warfare is it's new trick?
Third, we used to get packs for this very same price, with the added benefit of custom camo/geo and best of all, 30% extra Cbills. Now what? this is going to be the new trend for unseens? Pay the same for less every time? Not even new colors, just premium time makes it somewhat attractive.
And lastly the aesthetics. It is a nice design, but even without treading in legal terrain this could have been better re-imagined. The cockpit glass for ex, the last two sections could be removed to make the window smaller and more reminiscent of the original without making it a ripoff.
I know they know very well that they could make this pack with little to none incentives and bonuses and it would still sell like hot bread, but as I said, if you take a closer look is just not worth it.

I am happy that they are putting this mech in game just as the rest of you, just not in this fashion I guess... If you know of a very good reason to get it comment on it please, because I really want to like it but I just cannot atm.

TL;DR: The pack is not worth it at this price if you put aside the fangasm factor.

*edit* PGI can't just use that design for custom geometry without also redesigning the inside of the cockpit to reflect the limited visibility that small cockpit window would have.

Lexx hit the nail on the head, if we were to do such a huge change to the head area of the mech it would drastically change what the first-person cockpit looks like. Although it would be cool to do something like that, it would add to the development time of the mech.

Or just block out the side/upper windows in the cockpit. Decent (although a bit ghetto) compromise IMHO.

Yeah its just an example to illustrate why I enjoy unique geometry which doesn't seem to be in this pack (for example classic zeus fins)

Its just one of many examples for how a mechs look might be customized so that the unique variant has geometry is collectable, and not avaliable to people who don't buy it

The point of the post wasn't to push a TRO looking Marauder. It was to push Unique Geometry period. But people miss the point and are distracted by HG

Nice to see all the fans opening their wallets again. I myself don't mind paying the $55 for it - looks great. BUT when is the release date for Cbills and MC?

This is a repeat of the Urbie where the release date remains TBD

What is there To Be Determined??? JUST ANNOUNCE A DATE

I have bought every pack since I found this game including the Urbie. You can get away with it once. But this is going too far.

PLAY FOR FREE is a lie and it is being reinforced here. As I said I don't mind paying for the pack, but I do mind that other players cant buy it for CBills later.

REALITY CHECK:
There are 252 active mech variants at the moment and 32 pending delivery. Total of 284 for a game that is still not ready for release on Steam!

We have gone from buying a game that is fully working off the shelf to:
Buying a mech pack and waiting for release (incl $500 Gold mechs - remember those?), to
Buying a mech pack that is not available for Cbills (Urbie), to
Buying a mech pack when another mech pack is not delivered yet, to
Buying a mech pack that is not available for Cbills when other 2 other mech packs are not delivered yet.

And the game is STILL not fully functional because of limited resources at PGI??

Wake up people... This is greed and we are feeding it. TBD REALLY???

I'm sorry if I sound rude - but how long do you think we can still be fans? Announce a date for the rest of the community.

1) They just only confirmed the mech and the delivery date of said mech (december) so injection of the cbills will probably correspond on that date. But you also have to keep in mind they do account injections in waves so the servers dont crash with the load of delivering mechs to accounts. It gives PGI a little leeway in determining the date they want to inject the extras. Account injection takes a lot of server resources.

2) play for free is not a lie, you can pickup and play the game without spending a single dime. They do weekly/monthly/anniversary events that gives free MC, mech bays and cbills. No other gaming company actually goes out of their way to do that on a regular basis. Literally no one else does it. Quite your bitching.

3) The game has always been workable, but really limited in gameplay options. Those new options take time and resources that arent easy to come by.
Yeah, I remember those $500 mechs, and the huge price of the Masakari collection (a collection I bought). But that was back during the time of IGP/PGI partnership, and partnership no longer around because IGP went bankrupt.
The Urbie only exists because fans had been asking for it, not because it would be actually useful to the game. outside of random times, nobody pilots an urbie, and I wouldnt expect themt to release it for cbills. Just like I dont expect them to release hero mechs or mastery packs for cbills either.
And they do phased releases so that it incentivises players to buy the packs, but buying packs/collections/a la carte does not give any advantage to the purchaser other than getting the mechs all at once with mech bays. All the mechs released (except urbie) eventually get released for cbills. So if you want the newer mechs, either buy a pack, or shut the **** up and wait for it. You aren't being punished for not buying the pack. If you think this sucks, go ******* play EVE online, where you have to pay a monthly subscription fee and if your ship gets blown up ITS ******* GONE. If you think its a ******* grind to buy a mech for cbills, go play some EVE without buying plex and tell me MWO sucks.

The game isn't ready for steam release because its not ready for the blind consumer to jump into the game and feel like its a fulfilling experience. Those who are MWO bred who have spent years playing the games already know what to expect, and enjoy the game for what it is. But the random consumer who has no idea what the **** mechwarrior/battletech is; is going to feel cheated and hate the experience because there is no other game like it to relate to. So PGI is making the smart move and waiting until they have the new pilot tutorial, the UI fixed and streamlined, and squared away clan wars 3.0 and give the game another quirk pass to make it easier for new players to get into the game. That **** takes time, and they dont have the money to spend getting dozens of new people to try and bulldoze through the issues (partially because of people like decrying this as a P2W game and they are fleecing its players, when that couldnt be further from the truth).

Yeah, I am a closed beta player, legendary founder and someone who has bought almost every top-tier pack released (I really wished I could have gottent he phoenix pack, my only regret), and players like me had been waiting years for clan wars to actually be a thing (phoenix pack had bonuses to clan warfare loyalty, but there was no clan warfare in the game). Now in the game, we have had 2 full map reworks with a third on the way, we have the second edition of clan wars, and eventual third edition of clan wars happening. We have a tutorial on the cusp of release (a tutorial us players have been bitching about for YEARS), and they have fully committed to making a single player experience (something that would take time to do, and was reliant on the creation of the tutorial). Not to mention PGI wanting to make a 4th game mode, as well as more mechs to be released and still staying strong on the community outreach. This game has gotten so much better since its first release.

Its one thing to whine, but its a whole 'nother thing to scream bold face lies like the horseshit your flinging.

$20 for three mechs! And they're Marauders! And we get bonus stuff!!!!

I feel like I'm stealing from PGI... I better buy the hero add-on to ease my conscience!

Thank you!

I really liked the paint over, and I am a huge fan of special geo on the mechs. it really makes the mechs stand out and look unique. but sometimes there are a lot of factors that come into play when designing the unique parts.

Hoping we have time to get more special geo in future mech releases!

Wow.....they brought out this and it was so easy to resist the temptation as the mech that was one of the worst in the tabletop universe. There isn't also really that much incentive to early adopt. So a little disappointing. I will buy it with C-Bills thanks.

Speaking of custom geometry, I'm concerned about what might happen with the top gun mount on the MAD-3R.

It can hold 3 ballistics, so does that mean if we only have one gun up there, that it will have two empty gun ports to the side or above the existing gun? Most mechs that have multiple ballistic slots in the same location end up with odd looking empty ballistic ports if they aren't all used. This could make the Marauder look really bad and not end up being true to the concept art.

Hopefully PGI will make the gun mount like recent mechs with unused missile mounts and have them only appear if they are being used. If we end up with a little dinky AC/5 barrel sitting in a box big enough hold 3 guns, the stock build won't look good.
