I would have bought the IIC, I think this deal only appeals to IS players, and yes I am well aware that PGI is trying to increase IS activity in CW.

I'll say it before and I'll say it again, if you (PGI) contract a figure/statue out to somebody I will give you all my monies for one. I would probably buy the Marauder before anything else.

They make 1 IS pack- 1 Clan pack, in rotation.

For eg...

Founders (IS)
Phoenix (IS) [clans not out yet- just another IS]
Clan wave I (Cl) [clans out]
Resistance I (IS)
Clan wave II (Cl)
Urbanmech (IS)
Clan wave III (Cl)
Resistance II (IS)
Origins (Cl)
Marauder (IS)

On top of that I am a 'clan player' but bought this without reading a single thing and only purchase I do not regret.

I do hope for possibly single-clan mechs coming out... kodiak... I summon thee

probably never. this is Mechwarrior.

that being said, it's entirely possible they'll show up in the online Battletech Game that's being kickstarted soon.

p.s. Elementals are Power Armor, not mechs. Same reason we don't have PAL suits, or Inner Sphere Standards, or Infiltrators, or Sloths, etc. etc. etc.

PGI already claimed earlier that Elementals may be added but not before the clan release (this was the best news we got on it pre Wave I)

With the updates to the ai going fast, we can assume the elementals for ai use will be used the same time tanks, infantry, aerospace fighters, mechs, etc will be in full ai control and some PvE and PvP is developed to accomidate ai's- I assume no elementals may be pressent on say assault or conquest, but invasion, solaris (Solaris needs the random ai's to prevent it being rigged but also fair... I would hate to be the sucker who spawned right next to a 12 er ppc direstar or it being a 4 UAC 20 one who just wants to ruin someones day)

Also russ hinted there will be more then just mechs in the future however vaguely. It's more of a tease really but with the ai's now able to aim and torso twist and stuff on the test client- it is only on the other side of the horizon.

prob is Elementals are pretty much useless against mechs without their trademark "jump onto you and blow your knees and cockpit out" :P they'd go from scary as hell to a MechWarrior to just annoying cannon fodder otherwise, kinda like Savannah Master Hovercraft (superfast fragile oneman, single small laser)

there are more things to support the elemental.
such as size and detection range. I mean it's practically just like a mech with ECM but with not able to disrupt enemies or cover friendliess. Also it's hard to hit- imagine the UAV and how many people find it hard to aim at effectively- often waiting for it to bob back up and down after the ygot there aim [which is when it goes to "infinity meters away" to something reasonable (that means you got it in your corsairs) you just wait for the next time it says a proper number and boom. Elemental? They are moving, jumpjetting, and shooting you back, as well as big guys also shooting.

Sure- unless it's a very skilled playeer in an elemental- no hope in winning against say any mech that isn't a stock urbanmech (even then it's tough call). but there is the fact enemy mechs will be around as well as them being in mass.

we won't be piloting them. MechWarrior Online. We'll be shooting AI them. just hope PGI remembers the whole "one-shot SRM2" part as well.

holy quote spam batman.

Anyway the thing is the Marauder (especially BH2) can say mount the gauss rifle- heaviest IS weapon in the game and mount 3 Large pulse lasers/ 4 large lasers / 3 ppc's/ 2 ppc's + medium lasers/ 2 ppc's + 2 large lasers/ any combination like those (as an extreme case situation) The Marauder can easily have it's main hitter in the ST which would be an easier target due to said barrel and also get the arm off in the process... easier to aim for ST first and lose 75%+ of it's firepower then to aim at it's arms and then ST for more then double the effort.

it's an 85 tonner- just 10 tons heavier and very fast ^^;
What about the Locust IIC though?

I feel very sad about this piece of news...

A. I didn't do that, couldn't fix it from my phone but fixed it now that I am home.
B. Yeah. On many an occasion I have been on the defence to a MadCat, King Crab, Nova or whatever near the end of a game blown off his arm with one volley and he turns and runs. If you only have one shot I pick the arm, thats all I am saying.
C. If I am understanding what you said. The Marauder is a 75 ton mech not 85. The IIC is 85 this is not that.
D. The BH doesn't come with a 300.. it is still coming with a 225. Lore states the 300 was swapped out for a 225 so while it wouldn't be in good taste to alter the BH It is completely legal. Sorry it makes you sad.

The marauder is my favorite mech, but I won't be buying the pack. I don't trust PGI to balance the game, and all the marauder screams low slung and bad IS weapons coupled with crap IS heatsinks, crap endosteel and an xl engine that take up more space and goes boom the moment someone shoots out that high mounted ballistics.

Please fix the game, Russ. Until you do, no more money from me.

NO, the MARAUDER is a 75 ton HEAVY mech !
Unless you are talking about the MARAUDER IIc !
Posted Image
As the LOCUST IIc would be just another 25 ton mech, I would prefer if PGI releases the DASHER - Fire Moth for the clans, as there are no 20 ton clan mechs availble for CW until now !

So really most of the negativity here is "muh dorsal gun!"? well, be thankful you are less likely to have your right torso blasted off by a gauss rifle by some fool to your right.

Also speaking of the dorsal gun, can it swivel independently from the main body like a turret or not? i honestly cannot remember. (from the tabletop game of course)

Standard or Collectors... You know it might help if you at the very least had some concept art to show for the "Classic" cockpit items to help nudge me in either direction. Plus posting the Warhorn sound would also be really swell.

Yeah Catalyst Game Labs Marauder re-imagining is pretty sweet. Quite close to the original, perhaps too close for PGI's comfort level?

The viewpoint. The design difference and armor and the big gun is in the center of the torso instead of being on the shoulder. That and a point this out of the mech like the arms do not you think?

In Battletech, each weapon was on its own turret/aiming system, so you could point any and all weapons at different targets if you wanted. The problem was that you incurred increasing accuracy penalties for each weapon not firing on the target your fire control was centered on, so it was usually something you did when you had a target in a different firing arc. If you are talking about the firing arc of the gun, no...it was considered a torso mount and could only fire on the targets in the front arc of the mech.

In MWO, of course, there are no firing arcs, and any non-arm weapon mounts are converted to fire forwards only, so most likely the cannon would still have been a forward-firing weapon, even if it might have had other arcs in the TT. Only one rotation ability on mechs...the torso, so all weapons will no doubt be slaved to this. Probably a good thing, anyway, as people seem to have enough trouble figuring out how to move one way and shoot another as it is. The chaos that would be MWO with people trying to aim in two or three different directions at the same time while moving a fourth is probably best left to the various Vaudeville holoacts rotating across the Inner Sphere.

My girlfriend is one of those people who has problems moving and shooting... I set her up with an LRM boat until she can get used to the controls.

As for veteran players who have been playing the video game series since #1... I would love to be able to do something like that. Maybe a button that will separate the arm cursor into two directions so that the crosshair goes from
....|..............................................|..........................................................|...................
---0---......to.......................0...---..---...0........to....................0............---..--- ............0
....|..............................................|..........................................................|...................

And now you can shoot multiple targets, hell if you are like me and you have a multi-button mouse then you could set the command to a mouse button. Maybe another command that brings the crosshairs back together. Kind of like the throttle commands, you can even add the option to do the decay thing if you are a twitch shooter type player... or maybe a button to instantly return them to center?

Here is another idea... Have this specific model of Battle'Mech's turret mounted weapons tied to the mouse crosshairs instead of the torso so that it is at least a little more lore friendly and more fun to play! Imagine a unique element not just to the model geometry and what not, but to the actual gameplay style!

I don't know... There are a lot of things they could do to make this thing worth $55.

P.S. Pardon my dots, but apparently the forums don't like empty spaces.

Really, I think that's how convergence should work in this game, except the other way, so in your diagram, you'd start on the right and the longer you stayed locked on a target, the more all the dots would come together.

You have the Pinpoint unlock? Faster.

You have a Targeting Computer? Faster.

Beagle? C3? Some other quirk? Yeah - faster.

I'd even have it be speed-based: if you're moving at 170kph, as I often am (when not grinding Maulers, at least), snap shots should be HARD.

Huh... Now that you mention it, that is exactly how it is described in the books. A standard MW would wait for a lock and then take the shot, even with direct fire weapons. The "legendary" stuff comes from those heroes who are skilled enough to snap off a shot even without the lock.

Why have I not thought of this until now? Hasn't even crossed my mind.

Don't know why people are complaining about a cockpit. Who cares. We have the Marauder...which sadly looks like a sickly King Crab but that's not PGI's fault. All resistance mechs will be out by Oct 20th, Marauder Dec 1st, Origins Dec 15th (or 14th I forget). I truly hope there is something special in November! Maybe a new mech available for C-Bills and Mech Credits and is not part of any packages? That would be nice :).

I wouldn't count on it... They gotta make 5 chassis between now and December 15th. That's a lot of work. I imagine we'll see the new/updated maps continue to roll out, and we might see some special variants squeek out, but no new chassis.

I imagine the Loyalty variants normal versions will probably hit the gift store in November, then come out for C-bills in December.

They've been really cranking stuff out lately!

Just to throw a thought into the hopes and dreams bucket... I'd love to see owners of the Origins and Urbie packs get a free Urbie IIC tacked on to our Origins packs :3
