Thats the point of upping convergence when it doesnt exist in the game XD

Convergence is the the worst offender out of a skill tree that's beyond outdated.

I am glad its going, truly, but it doesn't make sense to replace a bad part in a bad system with another part. Like replacing the pistons in your car engine that has 250k miles on it... with used pistons.

Even if they don't totally rebuild it/remove it or whatever - this a necessary thing to look at in their rebalance and it would be a shame if all they did was just lower the values and switch out the one totally useless skill.

Not sure I'm a fan of this, wouldn't it mean locking in certain mechs even more to a certain roll than quirks currently do?

No, not "even more"; less. Less lock-in, less forcing, but still encouraging (because the skill is there, in the tree. You don't have to pick it, but you can).

In the example picture, if you didn't want to run your HGN-733C with an AC/20, you could take "Energy Cooldown" instead of "AC/20 Mastery". With our current quirks, you don't get to pick anything else, you're stuck with the quirks the variant has.

Currently, if a variant has weapon quirks, you probably want to go with those weapons. Here, if a variant has weapon skills, you probably want to go with those weapons if you unlock that skill - or if you don't want to use those weapons, you get to pick another skill to unlock.

The thing is, with a tree where you cannot pick everything, you get to choose. You don't get to choose quirks.

I wouldn't mind if they completely removed skill leveling from the game, and focused on leveling or upgrading modules instead.

I would, because it takes a lot longer for new players to earn enough Cbills for a full set of modules than it does to master a mech currently.

It would be nicer to see more generalized quirk skills in that type of tree, to let players keep their options open as much as possible. But its definitely the right kind of idea.

Because even small %'s matter in the big picture. And you can't get the 2x bonus without basic/elites! Also master module slots ftw!

Do with skilltree whats neccessary.
But what im more curious then this.... when will you finaly remove totaly obsolete 3-chassis FORCING to level mechs ?

The reduction might actually be a good way to help balance Clan vs IS tech disparity. If they left things where they were for the IS and just elimenated the X2 Bonus for Clans that might make a bit of difference.

Nope. everyone would simply stop playing clan, as they'd be way too hot then.

Problem being that they dont see this as a priority, as Russ said no on the question as to if itll be looked into. In fact hew said "not in 2015 to be honest"

hence why I was looking for at least one skill
