Disclaimer: I am not saying this statement for certain, I just mean that if some one says "Low hardpoints are okay because its a brawler", that means nothing. most "high level play" is base rushing Omega and taking it out quick without even giving a good fight. you can have it. It's using broken gameplay mechanics to your Advantage, which is literally the ONLY reason The Clans won Tukayyid. Not because they were better pilots, not superior tech, it was exploiting current game mechanics. plain and simple.

I'm hoping this won't be a slightly heavier Grasshopper that can't jump. One variant really needed ECM. If I remember correctly it had ECM in a variant or two in the canon....I forget honestly correct me if I'm wrong. So this thing needs huge energy quirks. And not freakin' PPC quirks...hardly anybody uses PPCs...at least the people I know. Not talking about ER PPCs. Large laser duration -12.5% energy duration -12.5%....stuff like that.

I'm in for range and heat gen quirks personally, 10% variety at the very least.

Sided PPC on right arm looks better, and would works better. Now the under-PPC looks ugly, that's all.

A statement from PGI would really be nice about htis.. All previous renders had a side mounted gun, so why the change? The side cannon looked really neat!

What type of matches matter is an opinion, but honestly, when I say high level play, I don't mean rushing omega. People rush omega when they are on a time crunch or know they can't win by combat.

Besides, if all the Black Knight could do is brawl then yeah it would do fine in the omega rush gameplay. I'm talking about deeper gameplay though.

Black Knight's looking REALLY good! Especially the ® variant :wub: Good job art team, looking forward to how it plays!
By the way, people who are concerned about the PPC being mounted under the wrist should keep in mind that you could change that by mounting the medium laser first. Weapon positions commonly depend on the order in which they are mounted.

It looks awesome.
What I am expecting from tis mech, especially when the weapon quirks are really removed, is that it will be nearly impossible to kill. That is what it was designed for anyway, heavy command mech that can hold off a lance by himself.

And aren't Thuds already energy based? At least in the world of MWO? Unless you just mean the BK won't have mixed loadout options like Thuds do.

Maulers seem like slower, less tanky, but fairly fun ballistic Banshees, so I'd pick some up for CBills eventually.

Thuds, at least at the meta level, are built around the energy slots, but that's more the state of this game than the hardpoints. Whereas the Thud has all three weapon types available, the BK is a pure energy boat without the option for other weapon types.

And Maulers are a LOT of fun - it really surprised me, because I I wasn't a big fan of them.

now only Crusader, Longbow, Guilliotine, Warhammer and the infernal trio (Stinger, Wasp, Phoenix Hawk) are missing :)
