With the upcoming IS Marauder pack and the possibilities for the Warhammer/Rifleman artwork, what do you think we will see released for possible clan equivalents in the future? Will we have another IIC pack that will add variants to counter the IS Marauder, Warhammer, and Rifleman for the clans?

Or do you think we will have completely new clan mechs like the Glass Spider (Galahad) to counter IS mechs like the jagermech for example?

I personally love the design of the reseen Rifleman IIC, and it was one of the mechs that I grew up with in Mechwarrior 2 from way back then (so yes I have some nostalgic attachment to that mech in particular). I love the Warhammer as much as the next guy (even bought the standard IS Marauder to support the unseens HINT HINT), but my interests in these mechs are attributed to all the way back when my brothers ran DOS MW2 on my grandmother's old computer. I'm glad to see they are returning so many years later.

PGI will get more of my hard earned cash when I see more light on the Warhammer and Rifleman (IIC) redesigns.

Classic Rifleman IIC is literally one of the best Clan pulseboats in the game. MWO levels of armor. Endo/Ferro stacked nicely, just enough optional bits that you can swap out for a little more heat capacity (but it at least has 19 DHS stock) and it even jumps if you want it to (or swap em for more DHS).

So much bang for the buck there. It's only real weak point is being slow.

And having AALLLLL its firepower in those massive arms.

Even the AI in MW2 were always smart enough to shoot my arms off.

Which is what most Jagermechs deal with every day. In MWO, you'd go for the torso anyway....

...except that it also uses a standard engine. (And the MWO one could swap in a different laser for the ERSL.)

I call it a mech sombrero. But nah you are right, it is a radar.

Yes, actually. Riflemen, both Sphere and Clan, are generally built to support extremely precise and powerful radar/targeting equipment, as they're intended to engage airborne targets and need much better target tracking than average. Theoretically, anyways.

While I have to say those are among the weirdest looking mechs I've seen, there is definitely a niche wide open Clan side for a Jager-esque style mech with shoulder high gun arms. So from a practical standpoint, I'd probably pick one up. From an aesthetics standpoint, they're fughly, but it wouldn't stop me from using them, but if there was a cooler looking mech with the same profile, well, the weirdo mechs would be setting in a bay collecting dust, let's just put it that way.

Yeah, it's got BAP and serious anti-aerospace targeting/tracking radar by lore.

Like most 'second line' mechs, they really were optimized right out of the gate for TT, often better than the 'front line' omni's...

After playing some classic MW2 with the Rifleman's IIC stock configuration, I have now changed my opinion on the Rifleman IIC 3. The stock variant is now my new favorite. Holy hell what a beast.

Read more about it here.

The RiflemanIIC would pretty much be a Clan Yagermech, and my god I would pay for that. I imagine the mounds of salt left in my wake would be visible from orbit.

I'd buy it.

Twin UAC/10 with lasers, man....brutal. Also slow, however, since the 'Mech will be capped to a 235 engine (64.4 kph after tweak) unless special dispensation is granted for moar speed.

The Rifleman IIC 8 has a decent speed upgrade of 86 km/h according to the wiki.

I hope that that sombrero will survive (unlike Zeus fins) in it's size and be a part of CT. Will make it a glass cannon with that firepower.

I decided to make some gameplay footage of the Rifleman IIC in Assault Tech 1: BattleTech. Here is a custom build that I mustered up the other day using the mech to it's full capabilities (minus the jump jets)

So what is Assault Tech 1: Battletech?

It was a cancelled project that featured most of the classic mechs from Mechwarrior 2. It has a few new features as well such as mechs losing balance and falling down near explosions, joystick use, external cameras and so many other neat things. You can grab it here:

http://www.moddb.com...ch-1-battletech

More videos of gameplay footage coming later this week. Stay tuned!
