And then i want to move on. .. It's scary!

The Atlas will still be my main force, but i want something else. Something else to specialise on. Challenge- or not. Waiting for the Mauler takes too long. It will not be out for cbills untill february 2016 i believe.

I like building. I like shuffling with loadouts. I like being a generalist, but i like specialising as well. I dont build near quirks or 'meta'.

I have been looking at the Atlas lil brother the Orion. Any thoughts about that? Piloting this thing must be a real challenge i suppose. Or even harder! (I have experiences with other mechs on throwaway accounts).

I like filling as much hardpoints as possible. I do not like Clans. Tried them out plenty of times but they're not for me. So IS mechs only.

Suggestions? What would 'suit' me you think? Or would you wait for rebalance?

Thanks a bunch!

Have you done banshee? Or If you can drive and Atlas well maybe the Phract. its a similar play style with the low slung arms.

I really like my 0xp.

I found the Orions to be quite fun. The Hunchies are nice too if you really want to downsize.

I have tried Spiders. I am not sure, i find Spiders cool and all but i am more of a heavy / assault. I'm absolutely terrible with lights.

You have to dance around the enemy group and i dance like Tin man.. Locusts are even lighter and i am not so sure if i will like them. They're sure as hell cheap and i can always pick one up later i suppose.

Not bad, i have seen them on the field. I am not sure how much you have to sacrifice to make it viable? I have seen triple gauss, LPL (the very boating of it) but not many who carry the 'tradtional' Phracts loadout such as UAC/A5 combo's.

The ECM is a plus!

Interesting.

Do you run them with XL, FF and or with Endo? I have tried building a couple of times in Smurfy and i come around 3-5 maximal DPS.

Isnt it much harder then the Atlas?

I often forget the Kintaro exists.

That could be a challenge, especially with the Terribad SRMs.

I have seen them on the fields lately! Most of the time 'greenies' though (the color) equipped as a LRM boaters.

Will have a look on it. That thing must be real hard to make it even viable!

Go with the Shadowhawk. It's one of my all time favorite mediums and one of the very few mechs I've mastered 3 variants on. It can do generalist builds like crazy and look cool the whole time.

Do you have Banshees, Sarlic? They're pretty much the mech I always wished Atlases were. Great firepower, actually tough (feel WAY tougher than Atlases), butt ugly but in a cool way...

Not harder. Different. I play them as medium to short range flanker/skirmishers. DPS isn't an issue because I really want speed for hit and run type play. No XL in the Orions or Hunchies. I don't think I've built a mech without Endo Steel since it was added to the game. Ferro Fibrous has very limited use. I've only ever used it on lights where I don't need the crits.

Indeed. With Locusts, you buy the engine and a couple guns. The mech just kind of shows up with it.

What's the reason you don't want to play Clan? Their Omni system would be perfect for you as a generalist since you can mix and match everything. Clan OmniMechs means adaptability and superiority in everything.

Centurions. They are as hardcore as IS gets. Almost the size of an Atlas with half the tonnage. Plenty of builds, although many are variant-specific, AH with AC20 + SRM, AL with LL/ML + SRM, and superfast D with SRM+MPL allow for plenty of variety in tactics.

King Crab is the obvious choice.

4x UAC5, doesn't get any more fun than that!

Having seen you play, I would recommend the Banshee. It's blessed with fantastic survivability if you practice active tanking - twisting between shots and whatnot. Shouldn't be a problem.

Unlike the Atlas, you can get a nice turn of speed also, and if you do like Dakka, the high mounts are awesome.

Sarlic, I'd say wait for re-balance and then get your hands on Victors or Zeus (depending on the re-balance stuff they get).
For now you get something that might be completely changed once the re-balance hits.

So, in light of that, mainly wait for the re-balance, then, you will find your next mech to use.

I mastered the Orions as soon as they came out and feel that when piloted correctly they can actually be a big stopping point for the enemy.

You've already has practice protecting a hip gun, which is something an Orion has to deal with as well.

The loadouts are varied and I've only had an XL on one I rigged out with LRMs a while back. I think they will have synergy with your Atlas experience.

Need a closer look on them. I found the Shadowshawks fairly tall. Could be wrong. I like the JJ's though. I always liked the looks on these. One thing that made me always laugh was the rediculous barrel size from your cockpit.

Will keep that one in mind for sure.

No, i have 15 Atlas so far, the only one missing out is the BH and i dont bother buying the RS(C) perhaps later. But i don't like dumping some money on a hero / mech when it's obvious has it's shortfallings while i can archieve the same fun with the other variants. They never changed the MC prices of the BH and the RS champion mech. I find them too expensive for my taste!

Banshees looks good. But i am not very fond of running XLs.

They sure look cook but it must be very tricky to be good at the dancing part! :)

I am more of a IS guy really. I tried the Clans (Timberwolf etc) and i just don't like it. It's too easy. Perhaps this sounds a bit weird, but too easy isnt fun at all while i seek more of a balance between fun and challenge. The Atlas is both fun and challenging to use. Sometimes it frustates the heck out of me and sometimes i just shred everyone to the next level. Very entertaining to do.

Although the Badder etc. could be a thing.

Been thinking of them. Good stuff really. Funny to see a Centurion going 80-90 it's very strange to see but i heard some people actually doing well in them!

Both good choices, Stalker is such a great tank in certain situations. So rough to take it down.

Alot of comsiderations to think about.

Thanks so far!
