Sarlic, I'd say wait for re-balance and then get your hands on Victors or Zeus (depending on the re-balance stuff they get).
For now you get something that might be completely changed once the re-balance hits.

So, in light of that, mainly wait for the re-balance, then, you will find your next mech to use.

Main problem is not sure what to think of that rebalance? There's alot of negativity (legit in most cases!) flowing around and it was not even sure if its going to hit the live servers in October(?)

Perhaps PGI will pull the plug and then you are still stuck with your mechs.

I do agree with you but it's better to be stuck with your mechs than spend your C-Bills/MC on something and after a few weeks you get stuck with another thing all together.

I'd wait and see, to be honest.

Last time I jumped into a mech was the VTR for brawling. Then "balance" came and BAM, 4 VTR mechs are put aside until now.
So, after this experience, I've learned to just be patience and use my time to really know the mech I own.

banshees are great, but not as many load outs that you can run because they don't have viable missile options. probably the top IS assault though. (you don't need to run XLs)

orions will feel pretty similar to atlas but certainly worth a try. bad ass mech, not as terrible as everyone makes it out to be. still will be a challenge though.

battlemasters would be worth a look, lots of variants, also underrated.

Ah i remember indeed that people bought mechs and then some of them rendered useless. But the same very thing happened when people leaned on quirks too heavy. For example the Thunderbolt with ERPPC quirks. But that about was same when the Atlas-K lost ERPPC quirks and got replaced with ERLL. Bought modules and stuff for it and then it's suddenly 'worthless'. Not very fun and wasted cbills.

Perhaps it's a better idea, but to be honest i think the rebalance will only cut down your playstyle. As sensor and target info gathering is being revised the rest of the quirks are removed. Not sure about weapon quirks but i assume PGI is going to add small quirks later. 50% of more quirks (atleast thats my impression) will not be present in-game anymore.

I can build and play around quirks though. But i understand your point.

Also the Highlander...

Can be fun at times, but its hard to build a good mech nowadays with the available hardpoints.

Having seen you play, I would recommend the Banshee. It's blessed with fantastic survivability if you practice active tanking - twisting between shots and whatnot. Shouldn't be a problem.

Unlike the Atlas, you can get a nice turn of speed also, and if you do like Dakka, the high mounts are awesome.

By the looks of it most people would vote me for either the Banshee or the Orion! Both are the ones i like.

I will keep these two in mind when the rebelance hits.

Thanks guys for your kindness! Much appreciated and alot of good suggestions is being named!

I ran Thunderbolts in non-meta configurations before the quirkening. Do you have Battlemasters?

Indeed. With Locusts, you buy the engine and a couple verry small guns. The mech just kind of shows up with it.

fixed that for u

I liked those too! Perhaps i should expand my view and take more Assaults

They used to be poptart gods on the field. Dragon Slayers were great, but little too present. Agility+JJ got nerfed. At the time it was a justified decisions (my opinion!) but now with all the Clanners running around and frankly the oversized mech PGI could have made the choice to revert the changes and perhaps a rescale.

It's like with the D-DC who lost a module slot but got never one in return after Wave I.

King Crab is the obvious choice.

4x UAC5, doesn't get any more fun than that!

imo the is king of daka has been dethroned by the mal-1®.
it can fit the 4 uac5's a std300 (good for a 60kph) between 9 and 11 t of ammo, 12,5% cd for ball
and as a bonus 15 hp structure quirks to eatch st

but thats not the inportant point the hardpoints are in the same post code and not on ankle hight

And then i want to move on. .. It's scary!

The Atlas will still be my main force, but i want something else. Something else to specialise on. Challenge- or not. Waiting for the Mauler takes too long. It will not be out for cbills untill february 2016 i believe.

I like building. I like shuffling with loadouts. I like being a generalist, but i like specialising as well. I dont build near quirks or 'meta'.

I have been looking at the Atlas lil brother the Orion. Any thoughts about that? Piloting this thing must be a real challenge i suppose. Or even harder! (I have experiences with other mechs on throwaway accounts).

I like filling as much hardpoints as possible. I do not like Clans. Tried them out plenty of times but they're not for me. So IS mechs only.

Suggestions? What would 'suit' me you think? Or would you wait for rebalance?

Thanks a bunch!

Orion is cool, but do you want to wait in that heavy queue until retirement? Go medium! Blackjacks, Enforcers, Cents, Hunchies! The Stormcrow might be the best Medium, but IS mechs are close behind and hold the 2-5 positions. BJ-1X is an absolute beast.

I have encountered a Mauler with AC/2 in my Atlas-K in group que last week. That thing is insane, it rips very fast and it was a pleasure to meet. I guess it takes some hella of situational awareness if you pump AC/2s in it!

Ha! Looks tasty. You did very well with the drawing earlier.

The Atlas-S2 comes not later in 3061. Atlas-K2 with ECM in 3082. Waiting is horrible in real-time.
