I was OK with the 300/400 split for scoring.
I will argue that for those of us who aren't superior pilots, 400 was nigh on impossible to get for all the maps. That's fine, because it separates the wheat from the chaff and allows some increased reward for greater competency.
300 wasn't impossible, but I found it a challenge at times. However, it was challenging not because of my lack of skill, which played a part, but because of a couple of other factors;
- CHAOS, as it became a free-for-all as players cut you off from your target, stepped in front of you, blocked your escape, or even shot you in the back (generally I think BECAUSE you stepped in front of them....).
- Selfish players disconnecting when they saw it wasn't one of the maps they needed. This behavior only increased as the number of required maps got smaller on their list. The rare time I got on on of the last 3 maps I needed my team almost always had 2 DC's who left us out gunned and doomed.
- Having a more balanced team in terms of skill level. OMG...did PSR start working? While nice, it meant that in most games that points were more evenly distributed. In other words there was a maximum number of points available (think "pie") and everyone had to settle for a smaller slice. Often this wasn't enough for most of us to qualify.
NOTE: This makes you think, "Hmmmm since scoring amongst players is getting more balanced I wonder if PGI is going to increase the rewards because this is having the effect of LOWERING C-Bill income across the board.
- RNG. Nuff said.
