Can you display the number of times we got each map in the duration of the event in the tournament page?

I'm pretty sure I got Mining Collective only once in over 60 games entire weekend, when the ratio is supposed to be 1 in 9. I'd like to verify that.

It's not a surprise that you'd only get some map once. You can only start to expect the ratio to be close to 1/9 after a much larger number of games.

But yeah, it's not the best way to set up an event.

Its not just 1 in 9 odds its also random each time. It doesnt take off a map each time or weight on you play alot less. So each time 1 in 9 odds which equates to maybe never seeing a map or an odd if you dont give it enough time.

If you are lucky you can get it finished in less then 150 games...IF you are lucky.

Law of averages is balanced only over a wide sample size.

I know for a fact I only got HPG once but I also undeslrstand math and knew from the get go I probably would not be able to complete the event because I could not play 20 or 40 hours this weekend.

I think something has changed. I am not getting the many repeat maps tonight that I have been getting for months now. If so it is a welcomed change.

NO I SPOKE TOO SOON! Got Mining 5 times in a row........ Random map rotation.... BS!

I like the OP's suggestion. Personally, Tourmaline and Mining Collective almost never showed, but I couldn't seem to escape from HPG, River City, or the Bog. Those three came up nearly every single time, sometimes as frequently as three times in a row. It was awful, just awful!

I tracked mine:

Posted Image

Guess which map I didn't have a 400 score on? IT WASN'T THE ******* MINING COLLECTIVE.

I pulled something close to an all-nighter trying to get Forest, and I finally did in the wee hours in the morning. Hands shaking, mouth dry, I played as cautious-aggressive as possible and finally broke 400.

About 25 minutes later the threshold lowering announcement went in. OH WELL.

Your omicron.log files have all of that information. They are all time stamped and broken up by play session. I had 2 Canyon in 12 hours of play between Fri. And Sat.

Where are these files located? I've only been able to find them in a really old backup of the game.

Yep. What a colossal waste of time I couldve spent on the CW prize packs instead... and why wasnt the CW score threshold lowered?

I would be more interested in the tier ratios; just how loose was it; there is no way I should be fighting Tier 1 pilots. I have it on good authority, I am a scrub and therefore tier 5.

the event certainly takes a highlighter to a big issue in the game's map selection. i think heuristic based system would work better. check everyone's last 10 maps. identify maps which users have seen a lot of, or not very much of, and weight those accordingly. selection is still random, but the odds are tilted to make the maps that those 24 players havent seen much of more probable.

At this point just having map choice at even odds would be a GREAT improvement. Getting maps 3-6 times in a row are odds that would put a casino out of business in a week. Poor programming unless somehow using stored cache lowers the pressure on the bandwidth/netcode. Anyway this Challenge has left a bad taste in my mouth. I have been working on my last map for 2 hours now... and have played the same four maps THE ENTIRE TIME!!!!!!!!!!

PGI, let me be as clear as possible, This Challenge sucked big time.

I'll share my data. I completed both CW and PQ tier 1 and 2 and was on help guild mates out.

(maps as labeled in the omicron.log)

CW: 34 Matches played

Gorge: 23.5%
Crystals: 20.6%
Space Base: 17.6%
Mountain 17.6%
Frost 11.8%
Badlands 8.8%

Public Queue: 70 matches played

Rivercity: 17.1%
Islandmetropolis: 15.7%
Canyonnetwork: 15.7%
Mechfactory: 12.9%
Tormalinedesert: 11.4%
Moonbase: 11.4%
Forestcolony: 7.1%
Terraceswamp: 5.7%
Causticvalley: 2.9% (2 of 70!)

I understand that this sample size isn't large enough to show the even distribution across the server. I'm sharing this so the devs can see at least my experience with the matchmaker and how UNFUN this event was. Add to it the horrible sportsmanship shown (DC'd, people hiding after getting points, etc) to make it worse.

I support events that provide an incentive to play, but if it takes a full day of near non-stop playing to get the last needed map, or not completing the challenge only because the RNG denies you, it sucks and is counter to what PGI needs to do to build up the community.

Yep, I say that map selection for this event runs like Gaussian distribution, with two maps acting like outliers for that distribution. You see three maps time and time again (like getting 5, 6, or 7 by rolling a pair of dice), but only one map after many hours of play (like rolling a pair of snake eyes or pair of sixes). If this is the model PGI made for map selection, it definitely becomes a casino crap shoot. Sad thing is, after playing for four days and many hours I still have not seen my two maps. I decided to give up and stop chasing after this silly dream called Tier 1.

With that said, I enjoyed grinding out six million C-bills over the weekend. It gave me enough cash to buy the Executioner I wanted. B)

They need to tone down Caustic Valley (NASCAR), Terraceswamp, and tourmalinedesert. I don't mind Tourmaline because I ran my crab mostly but the other maps just need reworked. The Bog is okay but do we have to play it so often? It's not new nor pretty anymore. I turn my setting down to nothing for frame rates for tournaments not to mention better visibility through walls at long distances.

So I played 90 matches, and I made about 10 Mill Cbills to go with whatever rewards are.

I also kept track of the maps.

100 rounds played.

HPG Manifold: 15
Forest Colony: 12
River City: 12
Caustic Valley: 12
Mining Collective: 11
Crimson Strait: 10
Viridian Bog: 10
Canyon Network: 9
Tourmaline Desert: 9

HPG Manifold took 29 rounds before it finally popped up the first night of playing, then last night I probably played it 6 times.
