Low mounted torso guns though are still boned. Not much can really be done about those.

could make it work like bracing in battletech.
only weapons in the extended arm would be able to fire. weapons in the torso and other arm would be disabled while bracing.
in addition to the arm being extended up higher it could also give you an added zoom factor for more accuracy at long range.

Shouldn't there be some point to putting weapons in the arms at all?
Seems like everyone is putting all their weapons in the torso if at all possible, only using the arms if they need extra hardpoints or if the arms have really high weapon mounts. All those Hellbringers, Summoners, Thunderbolts and PPC Novas running around with zero weapons in their arms.
If arms are going to be locked at the hips, then at least reduce the torso twist speed to the point where having weapons in the arms is actually useful.

I feel that "arm raising" would require too much development work for what it's worth. Just like in Warthunder, they introduced the ability to open the canopy of your aircraft. It slows you down and makes the wind noise higher. Very cool, but a waste of time if you ask me.
A Commando could use a couple more extra armor for it's arms. Raising them won't make the chassis any more viable than it is now.
