Sounds like you want to club seals lol.

I want to see someone climb from tier 5 to tier 1 in an urbanmech. I'd attempt but I don't have the time to play enough.

I am the top end of tier 3....watch me go!

I don't get the appeal of ac 20 Ravens. I love the ac20 the most when it comes to weapons but. Why on a raven? Hunchback G or Boom firebrand are my preferred platforms. Please explain.

Doesn't matter what your tier. Some times you have good games and do super rare things like 800 damage in a panther or you die seconds into a match when a guass mech takes out your urbie. I'd rather use a fun mech such as the ac 20 raven 4x with only 21 shots in my xl 200 engine and do something like do over 90 damage and 3 kill assist one match then maybe 0 kills and lots of spoting the next match.

Link to the panther: http://imgur.com/JbhOzrO

The other screens I added to imgr: http://imgur.com/a/ZIXjb

And you my good person are my hero for letting the AC20 raven still roam free.

I don't make much use of the forums as it cuts into my playing time, but after patching, logging in and seeing my Tier 4 status I did feel disheartened. I know I'm not great, but after playing for so long, usually to the exclusion of other games and buying plenty of Mechs I did think "Is that it? Is that the sum of my impact on this game?" So this thread has made me see that it really isn't at all. I have fun, I play the mechs I like (especially now I no longer have a unit to worry about letting down) and I know I've had some great games. I guess I've had a lot of embarrassingly bad games too, and I think I need to focus on being more consistent rather than better.

I do like that I can see how a match has affected my PSR, and Tier 3 is something to aim for, whereas I'd never try to get to Tier 2. I'd like to know what percentage of the player base each Tier is, whether Tier 1 and 2 are more exclusive than 4 and 5, or if they're all about 20%.

So thanks for the reality check and keeping me focused on the main prize - having fun.

Heck, I am well on on my way to Tier 6. :D

My practice when mastering a new mech: experiment with stock load outs for at least a dozen or so matches...most of these will be brutal, where I die quick (though the team may win). Then I start experimenting with load outs. This probably costs me probably 20-40 pug losses to maybe 5-10 wins...and very few kills. Then once settled on builds I like, probably another 20-40 matches of mixed results until I have the things mastered. Then I start over on a new mech. So far I have only 14 mechs (x3) mastered this way. In any case, my technique can't be helping my tier status AT ALL. Nevertheless, some of those mechs I have excellent individual stats on. Others I am downright awful on. But that is okay. Its fun! I think playing around with the mechs and tactics is sort of the whole point of the public game!

Why AC 20 Rvn 4X? Why not? It is the bigest ac you can fit on it and the fact that it is on a light mech just makes it funny as hell to me. Add in the danger factors of 1. You are a light mech. 2. You must use the xl 200 and mandatory 2 s/dhs to fit the gun. 3. you only have 21 shots. That makes it a reall challenge plus I get bored with just one weapon type all the time. 4x lets me do mix builds. I have the speed of fast is mechs when i want it and jump jets. Let other players use that 3L er ll build, I personally hate it as the erlls point to right back where you are thus having ecm pointless. Once any other light or fast med gets close to you that 3l is dead.

I used to do this as well. I think mixed build have a place. They did back when I first started feb 2013. I might have to revisit that mind set. Best stats for me were from that time.

Don't run the 3l sniper. Run the old 2xssrm2 and 3meds. Where I stick with the assaults if there's no clan ecm on my team otherwise I hunt other lights. I see your point though. Think you should try the hunchback you might like it.

If you are playing fun non elited mechs in pugs you will probably not be as effective a player as you are in group Q. This is what PSR measures.

This means you will be playing other players who play like you in PUG and in group Q there are so few players for MM it is not an issue and if it was you could be helping your team dodge the bullies.

can you actually play with a steering wheel? If so I WANT ONE! Damn that would be fun! I'd probably have to wear grown-up diapers from the resulting pee-laughs.

I'd be more accurate with a steering wheel I've always excelled at racing games. I hope the dippers are for when you're drinking beer and the cork has been popped to stop the ten min pee breaks lol

I've piloted just about every IS mech in the game for short periods of time leading to low stats. But I feel that this doesn't accurately show my skill. I do a lot of group que where we face some of the comp groups where I keep up with the pack. It feels like I've been penalized for playing a variety of mechs instead of staying in my best performers. Anyone else feel this way?

I pilot a variety of mechs. I'm always mastering new chassis. Your tier seeding was really dependent on the frequency you played and how well you performed. Since January, when they started seeding, I mastered 41 different mechs and I'm sitting at Tier 1, but I also played a LOT of games for the seeding.

OP, realize that the Tier system is not intended to promote the meta players away from you because you are somehow worse. The the Tier system is intended to remove the "You all suck NOOB SCRUB" fun-sucking win at any cost players, the "Why did you boat LRMs you stooge!" players from your game so that you don't have to deal with that crap and can just have a great game. The ranking goes Tier1: "Its work, not fun" Tier 5: "Tis' all fun ARRGRH!"

The Tier system needs to be tightened IMO. I don't want to play with people in Tiers 4 or 5 because "lol n00b, y u hef LRMs?" but because most people in Tiers 4 and 5 can barely walk and shoot at the same time.

I logged into one of my alts last night for it's Tier, which is high 4. My main is Tier 1. The builds were hardly different. The difference was player skill. I saw just as many Timberwolves with two cLPLs and five ERMLs, Stormcrows with four ERMLs and Gauss, and Wubshees on my Tier 4 alt as I did my Tier 1 main.

The difference is the lack of torso twisting, the poor positioning, the constant overheating, the spraying damage all over the place, the shooting LRMs into rocks, the shooting well beyond max fall off range, etc.

So to tripe up that all Tier 1s are all meta tryhard all the time, you have to consider that Sarlic is Tier 1, Jman5 is Tier 1, Spriggan is Tier 1, Quicksilver K is Tier 1, Kiiyor is Tier 1... hell I pilot mostly Awesomes and I'm Tier one...

Broad brush much?

I'm not on your tier and yet I do do the basics. Always moving and twisting hit the same component. I know weapon ranges and cool downs. I minimize overheating as best I can. I'll post stats when I get home from work. Sounds like I may just not have enough games. I've only play 1900 games this year
