I'm about to hit tier 3, so he can have mine.

Honestly seeing my Tier be Tier 5 yesterday hurt, because I had thought I was a decent player. The truth is, I am an okay and inconsistent player. The main pain of being in Tier 5 for me is, well, you get window lickers for teammates some matches. But, the good news is, T5 lets you (as I have with my first 1.2k matches) find mechs you like and basic them. T5 basically is the place where anyone not amazingly skilled at the game when they first picked it up this year and had a hard time finding their go to mechs got dumped. And honestly with having seen 'high tier game play' I enjoy fiddling around with my mechs and even going into CW with them with friends. When -MS-, KCOM, or 228 come around and decided to make a match no longer be a fight and be an uphill climb I bear with it, do what I can, and go down, but, I just used it as a chance to have what fun I can, do what unexpected things I can to get reactions out of other players.

If I really wanted to climb tiers I would stick to my Nova-S, Centurion-D, Raven 3L, Adder Prime, and Griffin 2N. But, I like to move around and try things out, I have tried the Wubbolt when it was all the rage as well as the ERPPC thunderbolt, both were dull to me then, they were effective but not my thing. T5 honestly is where people learn the game, T4 will be a breeze to get through all the new players sinking to T5, and then you will settle where most people should be in theory, T3. Just because you get a bunch of very rough T5 matches doesn't mean you are bad, or your team is bad, it just is the nature of learning by trial and error, which sometimes is very rough.

So T5 just means you started this year or just are having troubles finding that perfect load out for you, don't sweat it.

I'm not on your tier and yet I do do the basics. Always moving and twisting hit the same component. I know weapon ranges and cool downs. I minimize overheating as best I can. I'll post stats when I get home from work. Sounds like I may just not have enough games. I've only play 1900 games this year

We start at Tier 4. 1900 games is plenty of games to move your ranking out of the starting tier.

If you lose more than you win, you're almost guaranteed to have a low PSR.

I'm T5 and full expected I would be. I'm decent enough player, I just tend to be very rash in my decisions of when to engage the enemy so I end up with very inconsistent stats. I also swap 'mechs and builds like crazy. When i play I play to win, but to also have fun. If I win a match and end up with a great score, cool. If i die 3 seconds in and do 15 points of damage. Oh well, thats life. I just watch the match play out and then queue up for another one. Like Bishop said, I play for fun and to relax. At the end of the day your tier doesn't mean squat to anybody but you.

Then why are you disheartened you're Tier 5?

You get to just play. So just play, it's all I do. You'll end up getting where you want to be/need to be eventually.

I'll post my archived stats and you'll see why I'm disheartened. I know I'm not as good as I was real life and not conforming to the meta. I'm not new started when open bata hit.

I also play group que with 2-6 of us on average where we play lots of big teams usually leading to a loss and poor performances.

Son I am too busy trying to master my 200 mechs (yes I am a monster Whale and proud of it I still have to buy lots more to come even close to my miniature collection of mechs though) to worry about what tier I am in, look at it this way if you know that you were put in a tier that is under your skill level, enjoy the farming of exp and credits, right now I am happy if I make 200 damage a game in my Urbans and I still have to master my spider pack (not looking forward to the hero mech there) and I never do the meta thing because it is no fun for me, I enjoy my strange builds, I play for fun not for stats, once I have mastered my Mechs I will have something else to aim for e.g. making sure that all my mechs have a positive win/lose ratio and so on.
If your self esteem depends on what tier you are in MWO then you are doing something wrong, it should not worry you in the least. My tip enjoy the game the rest will come by itself.

I've piloted just about every IS mech in the game for short periods of time leading to low stats. But I feel that this doesn't accurately show my skill. I do a lot of group que where we face some of the comp groups where I keep up with the pack. It feels like I've been penalized for playing a variety of mechs instead of staying in my best performers. Anyone else feel this way?

Play exclusivly clan tech.

Only use the most meta of meta builds.

Play Solo queue where the lack of coordination is easily exploitable.

This is the way to increase your tier quickly.

The way I see T5 is no one expects me too be meta. So I can play my crazy no laser timber build with no one complaining about it :)

some people have asked Russ about making a Teir 0 so they can polish their Egos,
personally im teir4, every game i strategize plan talk with the team and organize,
i scout and and willing to be a distraction to help the team win,

the Problem? i usually only get 250-450 damage, so PSR says im Teir4,

can you actually play with a steering wheel?

you can. steering wheel turns your mech. pedals for forward and backward.

and you use a joystick with your other hand for aiming

and then you can be a proud member of the tier five underhive.

Nope--- not me do you want to trade

I got one shot by that guy theb33f early this morning
I was thinking what is he doing down here with the scrub tier 3s' but now I realize if you do a lot of group play you probably won’t be as high as you think since your more of a team player

Also in pug land its kill or be killed (or used to be)
I spent close to 120 million c-bills on my TWs'

I say I am tier 5 but my streak wolf is tier 1 so it’s probably right for me to be in tier 3

I wonder if you get points for escorting assaults you know instead of running off to do your own thing

Tier five must be great! You can get away with running a LRM 10, AC/2 and Flamer all on the same 'mech. That's not so bad! You can have FUN! There is no expectation of carrying.

Don't be mad at yourself unless you want to compete with the big boys. You have the greatest gift of all--the matchmaker will shine in your favor and you can play for the joy of stompy robots.

even tier 4 is great... was playing my 9yo's account and i was carrying in a streakapult... ;)
