BOUNTY HUNTER II: 3xLL, 4xML, STD300, 3xJJ, with LL range5 + CD5.

My TOP DOG does a better job at 2xLPL, 5xMLing and the 3xLPL, 3xML felt just a tad too slow with the STD280 (65kph).

Got a build for BH2

STD 300, max JJ, 3 ML, 2 SL, 2 SPL, AC 20 with 4t of ammo which is just enough. Can be annoying to annoying lights and agile enough to take down bigger mechs. Scored 4 kills and 968 dmg in a match recently (I died though). Love this build. The heat is at 1.12, soon basiced.

Just started grinding my Bounty-hunter in CW, found this to be a pretty fun, survivable build:

BOUNTY HUNTER II
7 MPLs, AMS, 300 STD, 4 JJs

I'm thinking about this for the 5D

MAD-5D
4 MLs (in the arms), 1 LPL, 2 ASRM4s, AMS, 310 STD, 2 JJs

Theory-crafted, it looks good.

Might keep the stock load out on the 5M; drop 2 jump jets for FF Structure, enough wight saved for max armor, a extra ton of ammo and extra MPL.

I run mainly the 5D so far the rest are ok but im liking the 5D
I usually use 2x ML and 2x MPL in the arms, one in each, and 1x ERLL for the torso slot. Top it off with 2x LRM 10 with 2 tons of ammo and an AMS. had mostly positive games with this build.

One very important point about the Marauder, especially if you have an XL engine: in most mechs, when you torso twist, you turn a full 90ish degrees to present your entire side to the enemy. You SHOULD NOT do this in a Marauder! Instead, wiggle your nose at them! If you have full front armor, only torso twist a few degrees to either side; this spreads the damage out across all three torsii without presenting a huge target.

Back on topic, here's a build I made at the request of Perfect Duck, who was curious as to how it would play. MAD-3R with a STD 300 engine, 3x AC/2, 1x PPC - all on the right side. It's a great side poker.

Here's another Build I've got on well with

MAD-5D -Viking Marauder. 3LPL 2SRM6 (2 Tons of ammo) 5DHS STD 300

I took the tanky style of this mech and worked on a mid to close range build.

Averaging 500 damage easily and more on good games.

you can swap a few things around for a xl 300 for more ammo on the srm6's and a begal active probe but I've prefered the survivability for this build

One thing I'd do with that is move the MPLs to one arm and the MLs to the other - that way you get the right jab/left jab thing going and don't have mixed ranges. Just a personal preference.

I'm having a lot of fun with the Bounty Hunter II in a laser boat config.

10/(10) DHS, Endo, STD 300, 3 JJ
2 LPL, 5 ML + ML range mod

I tried a bunch of ballistic versions (AC20/Gauss) with 7 ML, and wasn't very successful. Mixing it up with UAC-5 worked fairly well, but ultimately the laser vomit prevailed for my playstyle.

Still tweaking the other varients, but I'm also having fun with the following:

MAD-5D: 1 PPC, 2 LRM15 (6.5 tons of ammo), 4 MPL, 2 JJ, BAP riding on an XL300. The PPC rides high on the torso, so you can hill hump if needed, and ride the MPLs when the action gets close. Only 4/(10) DHS, so it does get a bit toasty if you're running all the weapons at mid range. Optionally you can swap the PPC for an LPL for better heat efficiency but you lose the long range punch mixed with the LRMs.

MAD-3R: 1 Gauss (3 tons of ammo), 2 PPC, 2 MPL, and BAP riding on the XL300 engine. It's a great support mech, but it can't handle it own vs meta heavies or assaults. I might swap the PPC/MPL combo and try out a 4xLL + gauss combo, but I'd lose the BAP and even more armor.

There are 6 heatsinks. That will not run.

Just got my 1st ever 1000+ dmg in this guy.

MAD-3R

At first I thought the 3R was just a 5M without the JJ option as I wouldn't use all the ballistic hardpoints, but after some fiddling 3 x AC5 fitted in nicely.
It's a little slow with STD 275 but the STD has it's benefits & speed tweak will help once I get there.

3 x AC5 in chainfire with 6t ammo feels awesome, never has the phrase "A right good pummeling" been more apt!

4 x ML also gives a good backup / dmg boost.

It's not like there's any chance of the original build ever being viable either. I think that was the point.
