So, I logged in last night to find I am Tier 4. Explains why solo games have gotten much easier. Now that Tiers are visible, I'm finding myself in games with many unitless players driving unpainted mechs, many of them probably stock, and I am absolutely banking. To be fair it's probably too easy, but when you put up 400+ damage with multiple kills, PSR still goes down? Unless I do something stupid, I am making good damage and points just about every game without much effort, living through episodes that would mean instant death in the group queue or higher tiers, and pulling more cbills than I had before. Overall, PSR is going down, which makes me wonder what the requisite score is for going up. Anyways, PSR has been a great earnings boost so far.

Yeah. I noticed the same thing. I'm T5 and ive been making 200k C-bills a match and hit a high of 309k c-bills this morning. It is a glorious time to be in the Underhive.

400 damage isn't much. 500+ is the benchmark you should strive for.

If 500+ is the means of going up in Tier, then maybe they should rethink how they structure the tiers. Most players do not average 500+. I've had plenty of 500+ damage games but I don't average that much all the time. Each tier should represent an average match score range instead of starting at an arbitrary point and then pointing up or down. It would make for a more realistic representation of skill level.

I don't think they need to make it easier to go up in tiers, man. I think it is already too easy as it is. Focus on winning--not kills. Doing damage (that seriously hurts enemies) wins games. If you win--and get a match score of 350+, you'll probably go up in PSR. If you lose and get a match score below 300, you'll probably go down in PSR. If you get a match score of 300+ when you lose, you'll probably stay equal.

500+ damage is a benchmark for a good player. Most skilled players and useful 'mechs average 500+ damage a drop. This is a consistent metric when you examine the best players.

500+ damage if you build for it. A dakka-wolf will make that with ease. A shadowcat has to work hard to break 300. Just depends on what you like to play and if you care to focus on. I'm finding that I can get a match score of 350+ with a shadowcat and only deal 300 damage. I'm out flanking, protecting my assaults, throwing UAVs out for spotting, anything I can do to help my team win. If I'm running in my atlas/dakkawolf than my only focus is blowing large holes into the enemy.

Win/Loss ratio is still the main factor. Your performance doesn't really matter that much.

On a win, your PSR will go up unless you do bad then it will stay the same.
On a loss, your PSR will go down unless you do good then it will stay the same.

The amount it goes up or down by is infinitesimally marginal.

Maybe that's my issue... I like to use all of my mechs, even ones that aren't especially good or meta because they are enjoyable to drive. If I played all my games in a Timberwolf/Thunderbolt meta/etc. I'm sure I'd gain PSR faster but the way things are now, I can run whatever I want while still banking a hearty amount of Cbills.

Then you should be happy where you are at!

Moving up in tiers is only a good thing if you don't mind being forced to run good builds and carry your team. If you don't--and you are having fun, why care, right?

It's funny how I managed to do 440 damage with my 1V Locust (4xMG 1xMLas) but on average only get 250-300 damage with my assaults.

Streakcrow. That's my secret. B) Down in the Underhive, Streakcrows reign supreme. Hit and Run. Component Destruction. Kills (stolen of course), spotting assists, Kill Most Damage. I don't fully understand the metrics behind why I was put in Tier 5, and at this point I don't care because the kills are easy and the c-bills flow like water.

So your secret is a meta build? I think I'll pass.

What's wrong with a meta build?

Anyways, driving a streak crow is feast or famine.

Be careful what you say. As i read this there's also a user named "The Paulconomy" reading this. Soon your precious underhive earnings will be nerfed.
