Sorry, no, I have zero interest in pre-funding a game.
If they feel they have a winner on their hands, they should acquire financial backing the old fashioned way. Otherwise, you're just hoping the game will turn out well.
... kinda like you did with this game.

Also price point-to-feature will be a factor. MegaMek offers obscene amounts of features for no cost.
The problem with Megamek is that is not meant to be for solo players.
I tried, but it's too boring to build scenarios and campaigns taken from lore-booklets, and the AI is quite poor.
So, yes, I'm really hoping for the best from this kickstarter, and above all from BT author.

But HBS has funds for development. As far as I know, this upcoming Kickstarter is aimed predominantly on making the game better, with more features.

There is a certain difference between PGI and HBS. Specifically, "HBS" has the good track record with delivering promised and funded games in time.

Hey, Creative Assembly, why not buy HBS and turn the game into:
Total War: Battletech

I've said it before and again: crescent hawk1 and 2, mechcommander 1 and 2, all real time "battletech related" games...BUT NOT BATTLETECH!
The time for true BT fans has come.
Out turn now.

Im Happy with this Game, what annoys me is all the QQ leading to changes in the game. I don't intend to play the new game. It helps BT as a whole. What makes a game good is subjective and I don't see them releasing a garbage game, so where is this a negative return?
Crowd funding works and it means less external influence in your decisions. Their point of view only comes into play post release. I just hope the forums for the new game are not as toxic as this one.

They're currently busy with Total War: Warhammer and Halo Wars 2
Though I'd love to see what they do with the franchise.
Rumor mill has it that they'll be doing a Total War: Warhammer 40K as well as Sega acquired the license in the collapse of THQ.

The thing is, PGI isn't making this new game. Harebrained Schemes is. PGI is just helping them spread the word. As far as I know they haven't really signed a deal with each other or anything.

Not always. I've been satisfied with many of the projects I've backed. The key is to remember that while your heart might be into a concept, you've just got to take a step back and use your head when evaluating how much money (if any at all) you want to throw into it.

I hope they add in Ghost Heat, ECM mechanics, Clan weapon nerfs, quirks and modules just like this game has. This game has balanced the Battletech universe in ways others neglected to touch, it'd be a shame if it wasn't passed on.

Noooo not Creative Assembly! Anything they touch is ridden with so much bugs and glitches that the game is unplayable! Probably the worst AAA development house around...

As for the kickstarter, I'm not much into kickstarting, and after MW:Tactics, kinda soured on the whole thing. That said, after seeing what HBS did with shadowrun, I'm in.
