I've seriously had it with the chat system. I bought items for the game which I'm regreting, and wish I could just get my money back. If I didn't already have money invested in the game I woulda pulled out a long time ago. But the Chat quality is seriously making me want to just quit the game all together. If it wasnt for the amazing graphics and fun game play I wouldnt be here.
Chat box in this game is absolutely terrible and match after match, experiencing so many bugs trying to talk during the match, is the most frustrating thing. Losing chat, not seeing what someone else says in a blink of an eye, or wanting to read someones conversation. This 1 single aspect of MWO is the absolute WORST part of the game. This tops every other bug in the entire game. WHEN IS PGI GOING TO GET US SOMETHING FROM 2015?
Come on, theres gotta be someone out there who agrees with this. Any1 whos played the game, or atleast a regular knows how awefull it is. I'm sure half of you probably use TS but the other % feel my frustration. We all started out using the chat box at one point and didnt understand how an ungodly horrible chat system could exist in such a beautiful game.

I think it should be an option to keep chat bar up.

The sad part is, theres around 6-7 Chat bugs that are known to PGI and theyve been here since the first days Chat become an option.

Is there a code that you type to crash the game? That's how it sounds...

No. You just keep talking (or spamming) each other until some actual limit (probably hardcoded) where the game decides to just crash outright... taking you and the recipient out of the game.

You're right, that is the ONLY thing that keeps players coming back. If PGI would just realize that if they fixed chat and made a multi demnsional and safisticated communication sytem players would be hooked. The graphics and game play are a huge attraction to new players but as soon as they log in, and try to talk in chat, its confusing as hell for new players to figure out. When I first started playing I didnt know how to type. I didnt even know there were 3 modes of chat. It took me hundreds of matches get the nerve up enough to ask how to talk in team. I didnt want people to know I was new and was embarrased to ask. I didnt know how to find the options selection to edit game play either.

I'm starting to feel the same way.
- Chat box has never worked the way it should.
- CW maps are a complete disaster because of bottlenecks and unclimbable walls.
- Flamer and the entire AC2 family is being ignored.
- Ghostheat doesn't make sense. I don't boat and i still think Ghostheat makes no sense whatsoever.
If i can find a game to replace MWO i'll jump ship immediatly. Guns of Icarus is getting new content and actually has a more mature playerbase.

PGI can't make money on a new Chatbox, you know.
After all, you still play MWO even with this current Chatbox and you still give PGI your money, don't you?
So there is no reason for PGI to devote resources into making a new Chatbox.

No I'm done buying PGI's **** mechs. I was tempted to buy the marauder but I've finally decided enough is enough. I'm not paying another dime till PGI gets a new Chat System in place thats EASY TO USE, and is FUNCTIONAL, and is ENJOYABLE to use, and also EASY TO READ. Imbedded Screen capture options, reporting mechanism, language filter, and also multi language selection for Multi nationalities. PGI has flags of alot of countries yet they have no national language option. Its like hosting the winter olympics in only 1 country and demanding everyone who visits the country only use 1 language.

LOL
You are going to give PGI your money sooner or later, when you run out of 'Mechbays (if nothing else).
Anyway, you still play MWO, don't you? That means you are providing the content. Actually, you are the content. You are the opponent against who the other - paying - players play. Essentially, you are helping PGI make more money, whether you like it or not.
As for the new Chatbox, how long did it take to filter out Trial 'Mechs from the 'Mechlab? Two years or so?

Here is a good example someone provided earlier on another chat fail post

1.) BUG
It constantly swallows my sent messages. Yesterday after the patch pretty consistently every other message I sent.
I'm rarely arrogant towards PGI, but seriously: CAN'T YOU CODE A TRIVIAL CHAT?
2.) BUG
Change of scene (e.g. being pushed from your wreck to spectating a player) clears the current input
3.) BUG
Sometimes characters remain in the buffer and can only be cleared by panik-ly hitting "i enter" several times, of course leading to sending gibberish to others.
Might be fixed meanwhile, though, as I haven't seen that one for a while
4.) BUG
Sometimes typing TO FAST interprets the letter as a command (I engage my override while chatting on a regular basis). Again: TRIVIAL CHAT, guys. Proper event handling, etc.
5.) BUG
Change of scene removes or rearranges system messages (X has killed Y, X has disconnected, etc.)
6.)
Missing scroll functionality
7.)
Missing chat windows relocation and resizing functionality
8.)
Missing filter functionality (see only system messages, see only chat, etc.)
Preferably distributable accross multiple chat window instances (if one wishes one for lance, one for team, one for global, one for kills, one for other system messages)
9.)
Missing copy&paste.
(ridiculous)
10.)
Ideally color customization. I find the current colors perfect, but someone might not and it's really just a trivial color variable. You can do it, PGI!
Maybe even font size customization

To sum it all up, these bugs have been around for a very very very long time. PGI has sat on their ass hoping players wouldnt raise a ruckus, and just keep paying them. I'm done paying them, so to speak. Sure, I'll go on playing but I refuse to give them anymore money $
