The Future Of Mwo 2.0

Given the success of the new MW kick starter.
What are peoples opinions regarding the future development of a MWO 2.0.
Would a MWO 2.0 be based off the new design?
MWO art work is clearly PGI's greatest accomplishment and asset. No reason the kick starter has to reinvent the art work when a great new set already exists. leaves me thinking some synergy is possible.
or are they incompatible and directly compete with each other.

They don't really compete, just complement.
For an MWO 2...well, I don't expect one.
Someone might make another MW when PGI loses the license, or a Mod (MWLL), but it probably won't be picked up by someone big.

Well, nothing good ever comes from big companies picking up niche franchises anyway.

Do I expect to see Mechwarrior Online 2? Not really. But that doesn't mean it won't iteratively become a very different game over its lifecycle. Arguably, I could make the point that MWO today is vastly different enough from MWO in closed beta to be a very different game. So that would make what we have today MWO 2. Ish.

How tempting is it really to start spending several hundred dollars on MWO2 when you've only just finished collecting MWO1 mechs? And how many people will have faith that MWO2 will be significantly different from MWO1, the way things are going now? We still haven't seen PVE or the finished CW or even Solaris.
I don't think we'll see MWO2 before 2018 or 2019, if not later. It would be a mistake to make that game too soon.

that and the fact that the folks that spent money here aren't going to do it because they got burned so badly by the MWO1 experience.

Yep. I don't foresee a "launch" of a separate MWO 2.0 ever happening; the game will simply evolve into it over time.

There are multiple timelines that the current MWO engine could provide the foundation for.
What's the point though, when PGI just tries to balance the game or keep it "even" or "fair" but then allows the META to mandate which mechs are used.
Even if we had different timelines, the game itself really wouldn't change from the path its on.
And while I enjoy this game immensely, I agree the with post. This is it until the license moves to another publishing house.

The only thing that keeps MWO 1.0 afloat is the fact that it's the only BT game out there currently and that some people have invested too much money already to just let it go.

Care to elaborate on "burned"? We are driving around in BattleMechs killing other BattleMechs. The whole thought of any PVE and or "Solaris" type game play is only a possible future thought for PGI due to the success MWO has been to this point.
MWO is a F2P game that never had any intention of PVE stuff. Only with time and success at the cash register has those things been made a possibility.
What PGI/IGP started out with is what was bought. Times have changed. Granted, CW is yet to fulfill its full niche but to many folks just assume "perfection" to be had on day one when they are not the ones doing the creating.
"Haters are Gonna Hate". Sadly, that is the only true constant around here.

Maybe HBS can trade PGI their Story, Lore etc etc for Mech Models...

I also doubt we will get a "MWO 2" and would personally just want MWO to be expanded. I only see F2P titles get a sequel when the previous is very outdated by many years.
