Semantics and splitting hairs aside, it's obvious there won't be any dedicated servers for groups to rent from what I have seen (FTP), and that means no admins, and such, but there are language filters that can handle swearing and the like, my "Gaming CLAN" http://teamakc.net/news.php has used those with admin tools for some of the servers "WE" ran, and I can bet that it wouldn't take much for that to be put in place (if it hasn't already been done)..
.
As far as intentional team killing, after say 3 or 4 team-kills the player can be booted from that match, "WE" also ran a setting in an admin tool to do that in "BF3", and it worked flawlessly, and again i'm sure that has already been considered, and probably implemented, as it wouldn't take much to do.
.
As far as somone running their mouth, well, you could prove them wrong, report them, or remember what your Mom & Dad told you long ago after your first day of Kindergarten.. "SITCKS AND STONES".... And since this is the internet, that's all it is..
.
I'm looking forward to seeing what the gameplay will be like, and there are still many technical and organizational questions that have yet to be answered, so I guess wait and see would be the best approach... That is exactly some of the reasons I see for people explaining why they haven't shelled out a dime for a founders pack... Wait and see, and I have to agree now.

Just to add a note of optimism; Only the founders will drop-in on Aug 7th & we can be pretty sure that no one is gonna use his 30/60/120 dollar account only to get himself a reputation for trolling.

So the devs still have plenty of time to really nail down a solution in time for the public release which is when the Meta-game will kick in (I think).

@Odin
Wait and see in this case is pretty much like handing out weapons to high security prisoners and pardon the whole bunch. You know it's gonna end badly. Doesn't need a rocket scientist to see that coming.

Yes, a certain MMOFPS I used to play had an elegantly simple solution. Everyone allowed a small amount of "free" FF. (Hey we all make mistakes right?) But you get a warning alert and after after a certain point if FF continues, weapon cycling degrades, movement degrades, and if enough FF is done you suffer a weapon lockout.

Continued lockouts means either a seriously careless/poor player, or.. a troll! Which could lead to temp account lockout.

Yeah, that's very much along the lines of how Planetside worked it. I'd like to see this implemented. It allows for what is certainly going to happen in every fray and punishes those that continuously FF throughout a game. One thing is for certain, if you are in a good guild and don't play a huge amount of PUGs this wouldn't be a problem anyway. Communication will be key in preventing FF damage throughout a game.

I am just hoping that they don't implement rented servers. In every game where the server is out of the control of the gaming company, there has been abuse by the owners of the servers. Imagine you are winning the match and the server admin kicks you from the server so that they can win.

I'm curious to see how trolling will be handled ingame and what you guys think should be done. This seems like a pretty competitive game, and not only that, with 12 huge mechs on the field, it seems like a single game can last for a pretty decent amount of time. With that, I'd hate to be an Awesome trying to snipe out enemies and an Atlas stands in front of me while I'm trying to aim or something like that. Or I'm the Atlas and receive 3 PPC blasts to the head from a "friendly" Awesome. There's even the fact of mic spamming, but I'm sure that one will easily be resolved with a mute function like most games.

The thing is that friendly fire seems the most danger here. It might not even be people who intentionally go in with the plan to troll people, but those kids who think they're amazing and do whatever they want, and the moment that you try to tell them what they're doing wrong and what they should be doing, they go crazy and just try to get you to lose. Even if there is a very simple kick player function, the reality is that a game as strategical as this, even one less player out of 12 could also mean a disaster for your team. With the game being F2P, it makes even Perma Banning after repeated offenses not that effective of a solution.

Probably not treating it like care bears or Dora the Explorer.

There will be some jaw jacking and words back and forth. None of which is unexpected.

Malicious and intentionally ruining games, especially in conquest mode will be....well...we'll see what happens.

I will just cast my protection from trolls 15' radius spell and recite the code of trollish:
- Do not acknowledge the trolls! Their illusionary weapons can only hurt those who acknowledge their existance.
- Do not feed the trolls! Even a single drop of water, a breadcrumb or a misplaced forum post can cause them to explode into a trollsplosion and the smell / noise of that will also attract other trolls.
- Do not talk about the trolls, unless you intend to summon them.

Your best bet to avoid stuff like that would be to join BWC (Bravo Whiskey Charlie) It's Veteran owned and operated and you won't see anything like that with these guys. They have a solid reputation and won't tolerate any of that nonsense. You can find them in the merc forum threads.

Shameless recruiting.

Sorry to necro an old post, but having seen this I feel a need to clarify. I wouldn't put it past us to post up something like this, but we can't take credit for this one. Grugore isn't a BWC member to my knowledge, as much as we appreciate being noticed for our policies.

Thank you Grugore, you are a gentleman and a scholar.
