I think it would help a lot if they made the friends list on the PTS include all logged on players instead of just those you know, or create some kind of global chat/lobby solution. Anything that allows ALL players on the PTS to see and communicate with each other.

Even if there aren't enough players for the MM to work with it's easy to set up private matches, but you have to know what players are logged in to do that. I think more players would stay and set up matches if the above happened, instead of just hitting play now a couple times before giving up.

I have played the PTS a lot, but I have't actually had a successful drop in the regular MM. It's all been private matches.

Install failed due to insufficient harddrive space (after 2 day download).

Provider has had a tech fault of their international gateway, so have to wait for it to fix before trying again.

I'll admit, I played PTS pretty heavily on day one, but haven't logged into the test server since: not much reason to, I'd tested what I wanted to, and there's no gain in doing more - I may as well make "real" cbills with my time :)

Took me a day to figure out target locking for lasers was bullocks. I also know dropping the range of ecm to 90m and only giving it a 3 seconds target lock delay might be a steep nerf after so much time.

In short, testing is done. Next.

ECM needs a strong nerf, there is no reason at all for it to be any stronger than AMS.

I don't know what it is. Or where it is. Or how to log onto it. I would say those are the three biggest reasons.

When i log on PTS server, i can't find a match. I could do a few games day one, but after that, all i did was waiting.

I don't use the PTS because I don't get much time to play as it is and I'd rather it count for something after having pumped hundreds of dollars into the game with the hopes that the devs could actually do math.

Most of my unit also does not use the PTS, and I'd rather play with friends/comrades.

The third item is indeed having to maintain a separate install.

Only had a couple of matches a few days ago(think I saw you in one ;)), but I know that running a Nova with 2 ERPPC's and 4 MG's is hotter than on the production side. Even using chain fire, it was get off around 3 shots or so and suddenly I'm about to overheat. Ironically lasers builds seem to have less of an issue, probably due to them being lighter and allowing for more DHS to be mounted. If these changes become live, they really need to think about lowering the CERPPC's heat.

Oh and in answer to your opening question, I want to play the PTS but keep getting the same issue as others, super long wait times due to low population.

My reasons:
-It takes huge amount of time to download
(why??? we already have the client and tons of giga.... is it not possible to run a patch with test setting, and then uninstal the "test" patch??)

- it takes huge amount of time to builds the mechs I'm interest in

- mechs no skilled.

I saw the patch notes, therefore no need to try out something I know is bad. Even if everything else was perfect, No hit reg marker, Need lock to do full damage...Why would I purposely want to make myself play something frustrating and not fun?

Now the trouble is, if these changes on on the live servers, will they become as dead as the Test ones....

I barely have enough time for 1 to 2 hours of MWO play a day. I have the Crabs, the new Cicada, Wolverine and Zeus to master out and annoyingly enough PGI chose to only let me have the Resistance II premium time after the Wolfhounds drop, which will add another four mouths to feed. Barely enough hours to play the live servers without dividing that time with the PTS.

3 hrs that takes 12 hrs on mine I have the crapiest internet connection in the Continental USA I ran OOKLA speed test and it said 95% of he US has a better connection.That is why I try to keep it updated. Called all of the ISP providers and they said it is the fastest that can be had in the area. Very discouraging but sometimes I understand how the Ozzies feel about performance.

Been on the PTS, playing arround with stupid high c-bills, gxp anf MC is stupidly fun.

Played a couple of matches.
New hit indicator is balls, total downer.

Clanlaser are plain wired, always (always!!) locking my targets, getting odd damage numbers each game.
feels like pre hsr shot and guess again.


PTS said lazors are bad now, ppl agree and simply just boat more lazors.. SCR with 14 smalls are cool now, at least that's what my teammates doing.
tl;dr lazer do bad dmg now > solution: boat moar lazors.

Gauss and PPC reign supreme now, (yay totally didn't had that before, like ever)

Ballistics kick butts, trip uac5 jager does not care about puny lazors anymore.

ECM is obsolete, LRM boats grinning like mad.

Must try out old lurmboats again. narc module still does not know of clan narc at all.

Mechlab is unable to tell me my sensor range, put bap and advance sensors on a mech, mechlab doesn't know what that losttech is doing, can't count to potato, must do math ingame myself.

conclusion after 3 games as a lurmer (after only 1 and 1/2 hour waiting time): ECM pilots do not know what ECM does on PTS at all. My LRM Boat is fueled by salty tears alone.

Any sort of light which used small or med lazors goes from 90 meter death orbiting to skinship. everyone celebrates one big a$$ glitchfeast now. so much fun.

realized that almost all my IS mechs are back to trashtier without imba quirks.
realized that quirks got removed for clan'mechs as well, no need to touch anything besides godtier clan' mechs again. totally best step ever made. tbr4life, get back into your corner suckoner!

Overall, nice stay at the PTS, much fun playing arround with heros and all sorts of new mech i didn't tried before.
As for the changes made and the direction MWO is going. i figured to make a quick 180° and nope nope nope. better stay on the liveserver as long MWO actually makes fun to play (personal opinion, no hatin').

Conclusion: for the sake of testing, sure. If this goes live, nah. i'll very likely play something else then.

*currently trying to find a game on the PTS, 37 minutes in and still no result.

** gave up after 56 minutes. back to the liveserver i guess.

Basically. That, and the servers appear to be down now anyway, so PGI must have gotten a few people to give them they answers they want to justify what they were going to do anyway.
