Quoted for the Starsiege reference. Cockpits are incredible for gameplay, and I want them to be functional this time.

Like if there are camera guided missiles, you will need to look at the camera feed within your cockpit to guide them.

tell me if i'm wrong, but i don't recall there ever being mech mounted camera guided missles in battletech. i'm still pro cockpit though. those cockpits look amazing, and i don't want a mech Call of Duty, but i would still like a HUD as well as a cockpit. ever seen an F-35 helmet?

It basically adds a HUD to what you are looking at that moves when you move. that is what i would like to see with mechwarrior

It does not replace cockpit displays, it only supplements them. For me, the view in the GDC trailer is the optimal one.

agreed. plus it's less work and leaves imagination free to decide how the cockpit should look. i mean the atlas cockpit just makes no sense. so you're sitting in its left eye? why is his right eye and nose shining then? decoys?

Not BT per say but in MW2 you could toggle the Missile camera angle which tracked your flight of Missiles to the target. Very cool in a SP environment.

The more Cockpit the better.

I am both adamant that we have cockpits and appreciative that PGI took the time to model a unique one to the cockpit of each Mech. This shows a level to attention that PGI is quickly becoming famous for.

That's funny. Cause Killing Floor is the game I'm playing now, and I'm eagerly waiting for MW to come and put it out of it's misery like a double barrel shotgun blast sending one of those screamin b*tch sirens 20 feet away doing backflips.

Money money money.......

Last Beta was for RO2, for the Tripwire Interactive guys. GREAT group, and Alan Wilson did the voiceover work in Killing Floor. He'd jump on Mumble during testing and talk in his KF voice.

Fun game and another GREAT developer.

I found a way to off Hard Fleshies without taking damage. I've had people say I do a pretty good Patriarch impression. I run around mocking him when he says things.

"Help me my children! These guys are beating the sh*t outta me!"
"Everything's so much simpler when you got a ROCKET LAUNCHER coming out of your a$$!"
"You've murdered my children! I wanted to thank you!"
"None in the pipe!" (said when he dies)

"Excellent! Another batch of cookies!"
"You'll pay for what you've done. Can anyone break a 5?"
"I'll show you no mercy. It's a L4D campaign!"
"You're really starting to **** me off you pigly son of a b*tch"
"Come my children. Don't let your daddy die. I pw-protected the Tivo. You NEED me!"
"I always told her, I'd make something of my self. I'm such a liar!"
"You can't run forever. I WILL check for a hall pass!"
"Superior genetics. But I can't corner worth a damn!"
"Eventually I will catch you. Then I will give you your lunch money back!"
"Look at you! Running around like insects.... OOH! A bug! *sqeuals*"
"You sure are good at running away. Who are you, Forest Gump?"
"I don't think you fully understand the situation. You're interrupting Oprah."

people i d like to suggest something real real REAL important for me:

anyhow let the pilots be able to stand in front of their mechs !! (maybe before gettin in the cockpit)

WHY its important? BECAUSE:

you should be able to see your mech from outside as human ba or human pilot ,you should be able to touch it, run around the mechs or even get onto them!! like that you get this feeling your HAIRS standing up IN YOUR NECK seeing these awsome maschines, taste and feel the steel, power and beauty!!

i dont want miss that!! this makes the whole game feels much more realistic!! this is not robotic wars, it is the piloting of tons of steel and technic!!

anyone thinks same out there??

funny but not serious. @ gremlich and @ all:

start mechwarrior living legends, build a mech and get in front of it ! watch it and feel it!! isnt that awsome and exciting?!! thats fcking great!! everyone should try and find out !!

again: if you are able to watch your mech from the point of human view, touch it and step around it, you will get an awesome game experience!! and you ll respect that maschine you are piloting much more, no matter which mech you choose, watching it from the ground makes you imagine theres a lot of steel, technic, work, sweat and money in your hands!!

about the hud/cockpit diskussion i hope it will be most realistic:

each mech must have its own specific cockpit, best would be to see pilot arms moving on joystick and buttons, turning head in cockpit should be possible and show all details left and right off the cockpit. and cockpits glass should shine or get dirty or damaged.. with high damage maybe some buttons get on fire.. do i really expect too much?? dont think so.

only hud?? thats no fun at all and one step close to an robocob ego shooter feeling!! then whats left difference between jenner and marauder? no way if you like that go play "moorhuhn"

PS: lots of years passed and there was no mech game in sight , it was frustrating and the comunity faded away.. then there came this crysis, real a well made action shooter but not so tasty for me at all. and then suddenly s.th. about mech mod haunting in the internet?! wow i had to try that !! but not so easy get this buggy beta mod getting started!!
but finally lunched it and spawned as "ba", thinking "whats that ****!?" , i builded my first mech (uller prime), and somehow i found my way down in the hangar standing in front of that:
i couldnt close my mouth again, my neck hairs got up, watching this big machine with that metallic look standing in the dark hangar with the glowing lasers .... o my god how this still feels overwhelming!!!

and then these maps!! there was no need to get into a fight, all i wanted was to watch the map, the nature, the sun and dust effects, walkin in my mech for hours , day and night comin and goin so beautifull, and so much more!! cryengine at its best!!

now we know mechwarrior online runs cry engine 3, yeah i am so happy about that!! so guys give us this great place to go on being proud honorable mechwarriors!!

I'm new:EDITED: to the battlemech series...and the only reason I'm attracted to MWOnline is the cockpit. The sense of simulation is definitely priceless in gaming.

It gives you the idea of: "YEAH I'M PILOTING THIS GIGANTIC 100TONNE ROBOT"

Generally I see no reason to need any joysticks, screens or cockpit if a technology like neurohelmet exists. The limited FOV would be terrible and the neuro-connection is the best way to move the mech. Anything you need to see would be a hologram projected by the helmet. I wouldn't mind cockpit if the "clean" FOV was above 80, but anything useless on my screen is an issue, especially if it means lesser FOV. From balance standpoint I obviously don’t mind cockpit view if there is also a HUD view available, both with reasonably high (so not 55 but 80 and more) FOV.
