Just ask yourself: Would a reasonable person in the Mechwarrior Online community conclude that my actions crossed the line of acceptable behavior?

Any given person can only use the reporting 5 times a day (why 5 if statistics are being recorded?).
They also said that this gets reported to their support staff and that you may be contacted for additional information.

means people don't get spammy with the use of the report tool, either because they are overly sensitive or they want to get person X banned or they want to flood the system or they just want to report as many people as possible on the theory that some innocents will get actioned.

Basically if you've got five shots a day you will use them carefully.

Because of that one sentence about "them" seeking additional information, this tells me that they will not even be collecting statistics (this is an email/message tool).

This is just a support ticket hyper tool; if support sees something of interest, they will email the one who did the reporting and ask for more information; 99% of the time, people will not have any additional "proof" information to provide - this is why it is limited to 5 per day.

Thanks possible, but would have to go in the "that's mental!" plan as even the system sending a screen grab is pretty easy to perform.

The only problem with 5 is that you may not want to report "agdesgsesgelgestoixsh01115" because it is obviously some trolls throwaway account. Essentially a reporting black hole.

On the other hand, I don't think I have ever submitted more than 8 reports in a day (usually and event day), by the time I reach 8, the game isn't even worth playing, so maybe 5 isn't too bad.

Yup, IMO it's not the worlds greatest plan and it's not one I would go for bit like most things it has strengths and weaknesses (mostly that if you give people unlimited reports and don't prioritise based on whos got the most reports against them then it's 23 reports of nonsense every drop).

Ohh please
Someone said they're going to report you, or has PGI/Support actually talked to you for real?
There's a huge difference

I was actually reported, and got a warning e-mail from PGI and a timestamped transcript of my offence showing how I'd spammed chat.

So yeah. PGI are recording every word in chat and will use that against you if reported. As for VOIP, I think that might be too data intensive to record so it'd be harder to prove and will probably require video evidence on the reporters behalf.
