Ha! Nicely done. I hope it increases tactical awareness. But all things tactical in a PUG group are always bound to have a high risk to fail against a more static play because less coordination, people don't know their place and role etc.

While its true that PUGs have less coordination than tight-knit groups, I think us PUGs are smarter than most people give us credit for. What a lot of new players lack is awareness and pattern recognition. A new guy doesn't realize what being too spread out means until they get beaten. Or that the team's fast mechs going off to the side isn't necessarily abandoning them, but are trying a flanking maneuver and could use support when the battle is joined.

A big part of the reason I'm making these comics is for players to learn these skills faster, so I can have more fun games. I play solo queue most of the time myself, and I see all these maneuvers done all the time with relatively little coordination.

Edit: I'm a PUG too.

Passed this along to a few friends that were new players and haven't fully learned the game yet.

I didn't want to say pug players are bad or not smart or whatever but even the most coordinated pug(within their possibilties) will not achieve the same result like a team which plays together regularly and is completely linked in com and, in the worst case, has a very specific mech setup with fixed roles for each and everyone. A pug can never achieve what a good team can do, no matter if we use ingame Voip like good, little boys or listening to whoever thinks he's got a plan. Some people might not pay attention, or listen to music or understand the orders wrong and sometimes the mechs in the team just don't fit together(do you know how it feels to be one of a handful of brawlers in a laservomiting team? or vice versa? you know how it is when 90% of your team runs at 90kph but your fat butt manages barely 60 kph? do you know how it is to LRM without spotters and a team which intelligently places UAVs? did you ever play a long range or night engagement without ecm while seemingly half of the enemy team is using it?)

So spot on.

Need one for Assault where only 1 Light sneaks around to cap the base then 4+ go to defend it leaving the rest to get rolled by a push.

Need one for Conquest where a Light runs around capping outside 4 bases while everyone fights in the middle. Light's team gets wiped but they still win on points because no enemy countered the capping.

LOL! these are AMAZING - and maybe a bit hilarious - i took a loooong break from MWo, never saw these...
great stuff, sorry i missed it last time.
Humor aside, these are - quite succint and ... just yes, YES.
I'd love to to link to this for the new player training 'reserves' regiment?

When you have an advantage, USE IT.

Haha, fantastic. I see that every game I take a slower 'Mech into a PUG, and usually worse. You'll be fighting at an advantage when all of a sudden your lights take scared and scarper off leaving you to die. Or you'll be spotting and firing on an isolated enemy while your allies hide behind a nearby hill (or plink at some far off target) until the enemy's backup arrives.

SUGGESTION:

1.

Comic for why its a bad idea ramp-hump on Terra

or in relation,

Bottlenecks and why camping them is bads.

2.

How to 'Kite' an enemy. Literally called out to do it in a great situation and puggmates ran off to chase a cookie. A player told me to 'use words everyone understands' after we got rolled...yeah, maybe he is new to videogames.

This has been covered indirectly in one of the comics. The one with the echelon formations.

Excellent tactical primer for MWO. I will bookmark and share this link with fellow gamers that could use a nudge or four in the right tactical direction.

Thanks!
