I will say that there are mechs that are bad influences on the game though. But that's as much a fault of the players as it is PGI for designing them with the options they have.

The 5v's hard to pilot, but it *can* reward hard work. I would also say that it's extremely useful as a training aid - if someone wants to be a good

Panther 10P.
2 Ballistic in the arm, 2 missile in CT. It can't run a heavier ballistic (like an A/C10) without sacrificing speed and/or the missiles in the CT. I think if you play around with it, you can do an A/C10 and an SRM2, but you probably aren't fitting a JJ (maybe 1 if your lucky).
You can dial the main weapon down, but the LBX is crap, the UA/C5 is unreliable and as a primary weapon, that I'd kinda unacceptable. That leaves an A/C5 and maybe 2 SRM4s.
To give you an idea of how subpar that is, a Panther 10K has an ERPPC that hits for 10 damage all day long, can carry 2 SRM4s, can run at 127Kph, and can JJ like a champ.
So, to make a 10P match the 10K in the 10 damage in the primary weapon department, you have to sacrifice missiles, speed, and jumping capability. Basically you are SOL in every way. You can settle for a 5 damage weapon and make up some of the other attributes, but you have halved the damage of your primary weapon. On top of all that, unlike the other Panthers, all your weapons are ammo dependant so ammo is an issue in longer engagements (if you survive that long with your compromises).
So all the 10P's weapons are ammo dependant, all heavy ammo with a heavy primary weapon (ballistic) that takes up a lot of crit space. The ammo is explosive with no good place to put it (legs? Bad. Side torso? XL so bad, CT? Missiles taking spot. Head? Ammo for missiles there, etc...).
All this just makes for a miserable sack of poo. All the above (probably also things I am forgetting) is why it is my worst pick.
P.S. Vindicator 1X is a runner up and I could also see the Locust 3V being a good choice with 2 ballistic and 2 CT energy (but at least you could make a poor man's 1V with it).
Still, nothing is as rage inducing as that Panther 10P.
MeSoo did it much more eloquently then i could have...
My SPD-5V runs (and shoots) circles around 10P Kittens. It is much, much worse then the 5V and the 5V is freaking horrible.

2M points on the CT with decent missile cd quirk
2E on arm for MPL quirks
The only worse place to have 2 missile points would be a leg.
And it wouldn't maybe be so bad, but you can't load much ammo and hitreg on srm2-4 is total ****.

That is actually the mech I was trying to figure out what to do with when I thought to ask the question. But at least it was my second favorite F word... free

Meanwhile the Summoner can run Gauss + ERPPC with a shield torso, I've seen Spriggan absolutely crushing in that build. GMan lists it as T2.
The thing carrying the Summoner is Clan tech. Its an average Heavy that has IS levels of firepower but with a Clan XL. Its the weakest Clan Heavy but strong vs IS.
Yeah a select few can crush via poptarting with it...but that requires more skill than boating in a Timby.
Its not garbage. It is just disapoint because 'poor endo' or a ST pod with E, or removable JJ would make it far better. PGI instead gave it agility quirks...in a game about high alphas.

The Firebrand is actually a good mech too.
I'd say its between the Panther 10P & the Spider 5V

HEY!! Firebrand is GOOD. You just have to play to it's strength, which is that sweet sweet xl340 93kph engine and super high mounted, quirked, ppc's!
Also, Locust-3S is the worst mech hands down. 4 missiles (in a locust, ammo weapons are too heavy..) and a SINGLE energy hardpoint quirked for MEDIUM LASERS. Ok. So... 3 srm2's and a medium? and a half ton of ammo per srm2. 25 total shots of... 12 damage.. And then you have a 5 damage plinker.
...
ps. I suppose you can technically do more than 1.5 tons of ammo but even so. Srm's attract attention, which is the opposite of what you will EVER want in a locust, especially at close range.

Kintaro variants are the worst mech chassis in the game. Their CT hitbox is so easy to hit, and they die fast. They are as tall as a heavy Assault but armor like a light mech. I bought the Hero variant and sold it 3 days later.

I don't find the Panther 10P that bad I run mg srm build like an under quirked Huginn, I'd hazard a guess that if the quirks were the same the 10P would be vastly better
I've run that too for a bit. On the bright side, the a 2 MG and 2 SRM4 Panther can be run with a fast STD engine (Zombie Cat), but it is just too underwhelming. A fast Panther is still a slow light. Add to that the wonky SRM hit detection and 2 MGs being too little (really needed 4).
This mech really needs a large ballistic. It just also needed the 2 missile replaced with 2 energy. Just something to eliviate some of the pain associated with an all ammo dependant weapon system, with heavy weapons, in a light mech.
As a side note. I've seen many say the Spider 5V is the worst because it only has 2 CT energy. I get that and maybe it is worse than the Panther 10P. But...
What makes that setup worse than the Locust 3V? The Locust also has only 2 CT energy as well plus it doesn't have JJs as far as I am aware. It does have 2 ballistics also, but it's a Locust. That means only 2 MGs (worthless).
I'd say the Locust 3V is worse than the Spider 5V.

Wolwerine got ****** place for weapons and damn. I wanted a large laser for the head.
Summoner? A very few possibilities for playing him. Low hardpoint, resilience pretty bad, and did I mention he was able to overheat extremely quickly despite being know for being one of the colder mech of his time almost impossible to overheat?
I really wanted to love the Summoner, but it is just not possible.
Also: Commando and his clan Rival. The Mist Lynx, boy I will never touch them again.
