These 3 are the only assaults in the Quiz. So for "Sully" its not possible to do the actual event 100% since only Stalker and Warhawk are in the trialslist. And "she" doesnt have an assault in the mechbay

to point 1) agreed, and accepted. (not planning to use trials outside of events anyway..)
point 2) guess im disquilified then oO?!?. 3 rounds with the Warhawk-C(C) + 5 with the Stalker for this event...so..

was the Stalker i the quiz?

I certainly won't disqualify you, that would be rather mean spirited. But, I think i am going to stick with quiz trial mechs only. The challenge itself imposes limits on what one can and cannot do. In this instance it will limit you from completing the assault mech portion of the event. I am sorry.

eh, I think I'd rather focus my time on using my main acct for the event, anyhow? Sure, it's nice when I can boost my WMC acct on challenges, but it certainly is not my focus.

The point of the "Challenge" IS the limitations.

Dont like...

Been looking for this, for like ages, so thanks to Ed and HBS shiv, been a voiding FW, when it has a population, so I could do FW with legit MWC mechs, hence my post over at HBS forums about it

Looking at that list, it's not possible until you've mastered three mech types, unless your real lucky, with your first and second challenge mechs, and are willing to drop under tonnage

Focussing on my main is exactly my problem.
I have 207 mechs on my main account, more i can ever use or need. So the "need" in events for winning stuff is pretty much at zero...The big motivation for me, to join the "Challenge" was to do something different, start from scratch, achieve stuff without throwing $$$ at PGI. And that includes also doing events with all "moneyless" activitys that are possible / allowed.

Dont get me wrong, i accept the new rules 100%, but its a bit...strict.

ok i will stop playing the CNA2A(C), that i own BTW it is not a trial but a reward for a past event. Just to be clear all non Mech quiz mechs are verboten, except for our Clan choice or our Stock Mech choice, even if we own them due to a reward or supply cache.

All is not lost though. only played 3 drops in the CDA2A(C) got a KMDD which just might have pushed my margin enough to get all 400MC. I really don't care about completing the whole event. Mathematically impossible for me. I just wanted to be sure and get the full 400MC. 3 points a day for 10 of the next 12 days will give me 43 points enough for the 400MC. the EXE or VTR are kind of given KMDD with AC20s but the RVN is kind of a toss up. so far the suicidal RVN2X with twin LPLs is the big killer

When the mechtoberfest is done and the "Customer Apreciation" rewards are coming in (directly after the event i guess...) i will have enough Mechbays and Cbills to buy not only my third Arctic Monkey^^ but also my Stockmech...now the thinking begins...

Is the classic-3025er list in Post #1 carved in stone? Or will it be enlarged(*)

I intentionally kept the list limited and do not intend to include every Mech / variant that is available in 3025, so consider the list as "set in stone" until further notice.

That stock mech selection is bugging me.

My inner fanboy really wants to run the stock GRF-1N. He also thinks the DRN-1N is pretty cool.

<sigh>

At least I haven't finished mastering my ClanTech yet, so the decision's not right in front of me yet. Decisions are hard ...

I may have said this before, but....

Some clarification:

If you have a new WMC account and the Mech that the test says you are is not available as a Trial Mech, then you are allowed to use an IS trial Mech from the same weight class as your Mech until you have enough cbills to buy the first variant of your Mech.

*** I thought I had put that in the OP, but if not, I will try to find time to do it. ***

*** Also, looking for "loopholes" is not in the spirit of the challenge. ***

I've reconfigured my DRG-1N to stock, to test whether I want to run it or the GRF-1N as the stock mech on Amaranth's account.

Kerensky help me, this may hurt. Or my instincts might be validated.

Guess we'll see Posted Image

Edit: I'm very familiar with the stock Griffin. It was one of my first 2 mechs, I'd run out of money, and it was still running single heat sinks. It was ... hot. I've also reset it. Nostalgia shall be the death of me.

The die is cast. Dragons it will be for Stock Mech Masochism Bonus Challenge fun Posted Image

A couple more pieces of fun. I discovered a build that I like on my laser-toting Jenner IICs, the "Discount Shadowcat." It's 2LPL and an XL280. It occurred to me to try it after running my primary account's WLF-1B that has 2LPL with an XL280. I like both the LPL Wolfhound and Shadowcat builds, so I was excited to try it. Sure the Jenner's hot, but so is every other ClanTech laserboat. 600 damage and 2 KMDDs made for a nice test run. Poke mercilessly. Reposition while cooling down, repeat.

I also had my first 1,000 damage game on this account (I think). Even my Ace of Spades was "only" in the 800s. The difference this time was that I was running my boom and splat brawling Victor 9S, and I farmed damage on some isolated heavy and assault mechs while taking them down. They didn't have to move around so much, but they just didn't want to die easily. Who'dathunk? We also lost, but still.

Embrace it!

It's not so bad as you may think. They're not quite as squishy as you may remember, especially if you don't try to build it like a ClanTech assault ;)

The Victor's my 2nd mech, but the 9S is a nice KMDD generator with its AC20 and SRMs.

You don't realize what you're missing :P

it's okay if it's a not for you, thanks for taking a look. Still, "There's a reason it's a "Challenge." ;)

No, I own Victors on my main account. The build I run is really strange but I've found it to be really effective. It's got a maximum XL engine, since I found that mobility is extremely important to a Victor's survival. It has 2 SRM2s, 2 Medium Lasers, and 3 AC/2s. Sounds ridiculous, I know. This arose out of me trying to make a DPS Victor that featured dual AC/5s back in the day when the Dragon 1N was wreaking havoc because of its AC/5 quirks. Then I realized that due to rate of fire, 3 AC/2s actually out-DPS 2 AC/5s. I was pretty desperate at this point to find a Victor that worked so I gave it a shot even though I thought it was gonna be pretty bad. Turns out it's actually quite solid. It doesn't take long to strip the armor off even a Kodiak with sustained fire and once I have done that, AC/2s have a high critical chance that was given to them to make them less useless so whoever I've got my eye on can kiss their internals goodbye in quick order. I've had it happen before where the armor on an enemy's CT comes off and the very next shot of 6 damage instantly destroys their internals. Still though, it is definitely the most pitiful assault I have in my hangar and I don't fancy being stuck in one for a challenge like this.

It doesn't sound that ridiculous. I enjoy boating AC2s on occasion, for exactly the reasons you listed.

Please pardon me while I geek out for a minute:

My silly build for the 9B is the UAC5+AC5+AC2 dakka troll. I like to run it with a Standard so I can confuse people by soaking shots with the LT, while dumping bullets downrange for cockpit shake and death by a thousand arhythmic plinks. ;)

On the 9S I run a stock standard engine, AC20, 2SRM6, 1SRM4. As long as I brawl with buddies, and don't try to go 1v3, it hold its own and contributes ably.

9K ... requires that XL, and I find the Gauss and ERLL's seems to do okay. I'm considering tinkering with new builds though.

Anyhow, thanks again for stopping by, and happy mechin' to you. :)

Ha! I got Thunderbolt. That was the first mech I basic'd, elated, and mastered. I guess I should take part in this noble venture.
