To be fair, Fallout 4 seems to have a much more positive (and colourful) "we're rebuilding this nuked-out world" feel to it than the bleak, green, "everything-is-destroyed-and-we-might-not-make-it" feel of Fallout 3. We'll see, but that's what I get from the previews that's been shown, and also (IIRC) what Bethesda said they were aiming for.
As for Fallout 3, Steam says I have played 100 hours of it, but that's just because I bought it on Steam this year; I've played well over 300 hours before that on a non-Steam installation.
I'm sure that I'll spend roughly the same amount of time in FO4, so no need to do it all at once. I will be playing it on the 10th, of course, but not binging (he said, trying to convince himself
