I would think they have it as an option, but haven't researched it.

I like the choices it adds, ammo with weight. I don't think it had any food though, just water from my memory.

Ah yeah hardcore vegas has food, water and weight for ammo. The survival perk is actually pretty useful!

I saw a few videos of people doing hardcore mode it was crazy. I am really thinking about doing it on this one. Seamed like I always needed more ammo I don't know if I can get by without zero weight ha-ha.

You should give it a go. It isn't as hard as Stalker by any stretch but it is a lot of fun. I can't imagine playing Fallout any other way.

Take it one further -

Run NEVADA mod with difficulty up, run Hardcore mode and play Dead is Dead. You die, you delete the character and start over.

Go slow, be patient. Stockpile supplies in safe places. Measure your risks and always have allies around. The regular 'run and gun' approach flat out won't work. You're playing an odds game you're going to lose. Don't go into Deathclaw territory without a lot of mines, set a killbox and snipe them at range to draw them back into it.

Really changes the game, changes how you play, changes how you look at stuff. You see those signs going north out of Goodsprings that say 'DANGEROUS! GO BACK' and you think better of it. You scout a lot, identify targets, try to figure out if any have grenades (that's what's going to kill you most games) and you kill at range or with stealth. Run and gun is the last and least option you want to try. You check your map a lot, identify safe zones and try to keep a clear escape route when going into dangerous areas.

Same thing with Skyrim. Deady Dragons, pick your favorite difficulty overhaul and do a Dead is Dead playthough.

I can't recommend it enough. It's why I have over 500 hours in FONV and 1400 in Skyrim. Keeps the challenge alive and a strong sense of reward.

Also, the Hideout mod. Greatest mod EVER. Stockpiling weapons and ammo where you can see them, growing stuff, managing the power supply, etc. Having a living, breathing home helps a lot too.

I couldn't get into Fallout 3 at all. It was all like, here's a massive bland Wasteland! Go find your dad because he might know something interesting!

Really Bethesda? That's your hook? Find your dad?
I've heard the plot gets deeper later on, but after a couple of hours of aimlessly wandering around brownville I gave up.

Much preffered Morrowind / Oblivion / Skyrim, but now nothing compares to The Witcher 3

I loved Fallout 3... An interesting storyline (thougth the end, which forced you into a completely illogical choice) was very poor.

No, I didn't play the earlier incarnations, so I can only accept at face value reports that they were more nuanced and well-written.

New Vegas had a better story I felt, even though once again the ending was poor (presumably because the game engine couldn't deliver the climactic battle the narrative had built up to).

Well, I'm buying Fallout 4, certainly, and I'll spend quite a bit of time on it, but keep one thing in mind: It's Bethesda. There _WILL_ be bugs, and before the first patches some might very well be gamestopping. It's kinda a Bethesda tradition.

So it will be less hardcore than hardcore New Vegas?

The biggest problem I have playing Bethesda Fallout is it is easy mode Stalker. Once you play Stalker... there's no going back.

cheeki breeki, comrade.
best play with a loaf of stale bread and bottles of vodka handy.

After S.T.A.L.K.E.R. I stopped playing most single player FPS.
Survarium make me sad, just like Nosgoth Online make me sad.

pff "there will be bugs" are you freaking kidding me. So glad Bethesda took over the Fallout series and while I'm typing this in this sup-par forum for a never finished game realizing that the future is not war but just team deathmatch. **** it, war never changes. Going back to sanity now and grabbing a copy of a finished game with loads of mods and dlcs on the horizon instead of getting another 3d model of a mech for the same prize lol

I can't wait for Fallout 4, it will be a true time vampire, and a true test to see if my girlfriend will leave me :D.

I don't blame Bethesda too much when it comes to bugs. Their games are always so open world and there are almost limitless things to do. That is a LOT of content that could have something wrong at launch. It's just a bummer when it corrupts a save file :/

Assuming Fallout 4 will be Fallout 3 (2) as opposed to Fallout 2 (4) - i.e. it will be first person real time as opposed to top down turn based.. i dont care.

Fallout 2 was one of my favourite games ever, and when 3 came out as a different genre i was very disappointed. Im sure its a good game in its own right, but its not Fallout.

I guess if that is the way you feel, but a change in mechanic doesn't make it any less of a franchise.

I mean, just look at Battletech. Battletech (Table Top) vs MechWarrior (1st Person Simulator) vs Mechcommander (RTS) vs Mechassault (3rd Person Arcade action) vs MechWarrior: Tactics (Turn based). I respect them all equally as a Battletech Franchise and at least most of it was equally fun.

Besides, Grand Theft Auto changed perspective from overhead 2D to a full 3D world, and it was better for it.

So just me personally, I'd recommend trying Fallout 3, New Vegas, and/or Fallout 4 if you are a Fallout fan. I think you would enjoy them. Playing MWO (1st person), I know you aren't against the 1st person mechanic as a whole.

Or don't lol, we all have our preferences, I just felt like making an argument for playing it. You know better what you would like than I know.

OP is wrong. It's a trap. All those tier 1 and 2 players are taking part in a conspiracy. None of them will play fallout 4. They will play star wars battlefront...

Fallout 3: Better story and writing. More interesting story driven experience.
Fallout NV: Better Mechanics, more traditional "Fallout" feel, bigger wasteland. More interesting companions.

People can keep looking through the nostalgia glasses, I own the entirety of the series, and I'd much rather play 3 or NV over 1, 2, or BoS.

But hey, we can still play whatever. Which is great... enjoy the nostalgia... but understand, those old fallout games, are old, and don't entirely hold up today. Yes they're fun, yes they are "objectively" better than the new ones... but it could also be said the new ones are better than the old.

The wonderful thing about opinions I suppose.

I assume you mean FT:BoS not the console F:BoS
