thanks to next patch, a large group decide to bring lezors, and guess what they will vote.
Any map, or the fresher?

The loser team must adapt and lose, or disco. With penality...oh, well, there is Fall out 4.

A large group decides to organize a lurm, festival.
Guess what they will vote. Alpine or mining?
Aaaaand the loser team must adapt to lose, or disco..... with penality.
Oh well, there is Fall out 4...

A large group decides to do a brawl festival.
After choosing the right mechs ....guess which map they will choose.
....and the loser team must adapt or going to play Fall Out 4.

I don't know if november road map is the high derping time of PGI, or they are doing it on purpose.
There are too many "cheerleaders" wanting max group of 4, and pgi is getting close to have an excuse to derp in this direction.

And that "the fresher" may not even come up. And that nearly everyone brings lasers to begin with...

They can't vote "any map", they can only vote from a random choice of 4 maps.

I think that the point he is making is that the organized group can all vote for one map of the ones to choose from that they might prefer. The less organized group will all have varied load outs and likely won't vote as a block. Therefore they are likely to lose the map vote.

I don't even like math and I can figure that one out.

Meh.

I think we're going to have issues with RNG based events... like getting that last map to get the score... or the gamemode you actually need for another grabbag type of deal.

Sure there will be user choice, but it's going to make things somewhat problematic elsewhere (besides the usual issues that come with it).

I know it's gauche, but can we at least see how it actually works before we put a date to mecha Ragnarök?

Almost every impending change in the past that has provoked a huge outcry as turned out to be varying degrees of non-event.

Well, I think I'll play solo only.

Because, even if a team is not a premade, there will be an unbalance in any case: the larger group will receive more benefit from choosing the map, and it is they probable they will win the map selection (having large number).

Even in solo que in can happen: the team with more lurmers can select and prolly win the more open map; or the team with more lasers, will prolly win the fresher map.
So, imo, map selection creates an unbalance between the 2 teams.

They have to pick from a random selection of four maps, which about a third of the time will not include MAP X
Also around half the time they won't be able to vote MODE Y

Yes, a 12 man can dominate what map and mode combo is played from a random choice which they can't dominate.
Such is the PUG life.

There are already many things that create unbalance between teams each match, such as individual player skill, amount of ECM, various loadouts, and even the chosen random map itself. I doubt it will become even more lopsided than that in Solo-Q. Besides, Solo-Q players get tired of playing the same map much faster than Group-Q, or CW, where peolpe tryhard more.

I gave a mathematical explanation why group que will be unbalance further.

Let's test the theory after the next patch.

Except that he's assuming a worst-case scenario, and ignoring facts that he doesn't like - such as the likelihood of favorable maps showing up at all. It's not questionable that groups will use this feature - but is this sometimes on, sometimes off advantage actually going to make enough difference to be a "problem?" Much less offset the average tonnage penalty of a full group.

Instead of dealing with any of that, he launches into a childish, insult-laced tirade to the effect that PGI is trying - or bumbling into; he can't make up his mind - to make 4-mans the max size in group queue. Forget all that "nuance," and "detail:" This is happening, right now - and nobody but the smart people see it! Note the lavish praise bestowed on any agreement, while insults are served up hot for any challenge to his screen door of a theory.

It's like talking to an anti-vaccination conspiracy theorist, but with more insults thrown around.

This is why I wrote a FURTHER buff to premade, which don't need it, because they can already dominate.

Why this?

Imo, because they want to push toward 4 man group only, after the qquing phase in forum or tweeter.
I cannot see another logical explanation.

this whole voting idea is bad.

Should be like closed beta, you click on play, you get a match, done. There's no need that the players can choose maps or game modes, the only option should be on which servers you want to play.
Imho.

The sad thing is that I feel they are really unbalancing the group que, thanks to this and the recent tonnage system, instead of the 3/3/3/3.

MWO should be a team game, while pgi is screwing it up, making tolerable to play in solo que only.

I don't get it.
