Map/mode Vote

If the purpose is really to reduce wait time, why don't let the "vote" being made before we click the "Play"? Previously we can pre-select the mode, all PGI can do is create a map list in the menu so we can pre-select 2 or 3 of them by priority. Then MM can proceed with the matching by mode and map priority. I hope this logic works.

i suspect the real reason they did it was to make light mechs more desirable.
and it has worked to that extent very well.
map by priority?
why is it impossible for players to learn to do well in all maps, like a champion would?
this is like going into boxing but saying ok i only want to fight people who are shorter than me and who aren't known to throw effective hook punches

It's not a matter of how to WIN in bog or forest colony, it's about the things that PGI has introduced in it that makes it extremely difficult to even move without getting stuck in a buggy spot. There are small rocks or roots in bog that prevent anyone from moving once you get stuck. Unless you have JJs, you can't even move from these. And don't even get me started on the staircases blocking all movement because they're just too high per step for short mechs.
Forest Colony just has this fog that punishes you for playing on high detail. The fog will actually go away if you drop detail to lowest, giving players an extra 50-100m of good visibility if they drop detail down. I'm not sure if this is intentional, but it sure as hell is annoying.
And I would appreciate it if you do not make any assumptions on player skill. I do not doubt that some players are better than others, that's just a fact of life. I'm merely stating that there are broken bits of those two maps, and nothing more than that.

the narc will kill a whole team your AMS won't save you. one narc will have you destroyed when the enemy has an lrm team in those maps
NARCs get jammed by ECM. And with so many ECM capable mechs running around these days, the probability of an active NARC that isn't jammed is pretty low.
And if everyone brings a LRM boat, that's just feasting time for any fast striker mechs with ECM. The meta would simply shift again to accommodate any counters.

I don't see any reason why I should change what I have said. NARCs, like LRMs, are one of the easiest things to counter these days. AMS will shoot down NARCs, and ECM will block it out even if it lands. If you are getting NARCed, and your team is incapable of bringing an ECM to block it out, then that is a teamwork issue, is it not?

Truth. Now if only they would act on it and see WHY they aren't popular.
To be honest, heat shouldn't be the only reason why people pick maps. I like picking Terra Therma, for one. Clan laser vomit goes out the door, and you have to be far more careful about when and where you alpha.

PGI stated once that the initial cost to develop a map is 250.000$ round about.
Now ask yourself if you would pay 1/4 Million Dollar to give the Playerbase maps that are not played...

it needs to bloody stop. vote for map? hey thats fine, but, for the love of god turn off the map type voting, because if i want mindless killing i will go back to my ps4 and reinstall battlefield 4. come on guys, enough with the effing skirmish. oh, and no, this is not a new gripe for me. no matter the match type, <even since closed bloody beta> it ALWAYS DEVOLVES INTO A SKIRMISH. capture the base in assault? NOPE, lets kill all mechs. Conquest? NOPE, lets STILL KILL ALL MECHS.
this would not be so painful if CW wasnt slower than stellar drift in kicking up matches, no, i take that back, would still be painful, because mindless killing is terribly boring.

It was fine before. It just needed the player's option to OPT OUT of maps. I'd gladly wait an extra minute or five to NOT drop on Caustic or Bog.

map selection on my side of things has been rather varied, but, its the constant effing skirmishes that are making this painful to the point of making me want to quit this game a SECOND TIME.

When presented with 2 good (or bad) options, you're more likely to choose differently.
Mode select has no place here, when a perfectly viable option was already in place, that did the job more effectively .

Besides events i only played conquest in the pug games....
I can´t play conquest any more, becaus even that 1 out of 20 times I get conquest those players that dont like conquest and dont want to play it turn it into skirmish by rushing the standart fighting points and just ignore the game mode...
So even when i get conquest... ist not really conquest it´s skirmish...

We had a major upset already about forcing people to play game modes they don't like, does PGI lack the ability to learn? I've been playing for over 3 years, and to be honest it's gotten a little boring but I still liked coming in and playing. Forcing me to play game modes I don't know/don't like is basically making me a newb target to be squashed, and being in tier 2 I'm not exactly fighting inexperienced players. How did they not foresee that people would use the map/game mode vote to get a game that gives them major advantages? I don't want anyone to be forced to play the game I like if they don't want, and I don't like being made to be their easy kill either. Also lets not forget about all the packages people have bought that aren't fulfilled yet, marauder, warhammer, clan III package. I alone have a couple hundred bucks in content as of yet not received, make the experience suck and I wonder how many will simply refund their pre-purchases and invest in another game.

I think the frequency of stomps have increased,,,,there could be multiple reasons why, but if you agree, let me know?
Possible reasons:
1) Large teams selecting maps/conditions which they have preselected mechs to perform well at ( ie boating lasers and picking a cold map; picking fast mechs and voting Conquest; or boating missiles and voting Alpine/Skirmish).
- A possible solution would be to change voting system (mention by a Unit member of mine Bolide). Instead of voting for Map//Mode you want, you get to vote to ELIMINATE the Map.Mode you DON'T want. Can't stand Skirmish? Vote against it, but you'll have to be prepared for either Conquest or Assault.
2) Smaller teams/individuals dropping in mechs geared for a certain game type (like Skirmish) or map (cold/hot) and the vote goes against them. They are now dropping in a mech that will perform poorly under the conditions selected.
- Proposed solution - player should stop trying to optimize their drop if they aren't in a group like 1) that is large enough to control the Map/Conditions.
3) Players forced to play a game-mode they don't like or aren't good at are performing poorly.
No real solution for this. They will have to adjust their play-style.

Let's say you are a tier 1 brawler that loves skirmish and only plays that game mode. All your mechs are built for it and you know to the pixel exactly where you need to be at every point in the match. Now you have to play conquest or be penalized. How good are you going to be? Doesn't matter, cause you're up against tier 1 conquest meta players that know this mode hardcore, the odds of you even putting up a decent fight are next to none.
