PGI will never win new player ( and less new customer ) with this new feature... they can only lose some.

And will they stop the bleeding?
Not at all..
Less variety of match goal, less variety of map, less players ...
" Less " the new MWO feature when others games, F2Ps or even COD offer the " More " feature to theirs players.


PS: And GGclose for changing caustic, forest colony with worst maps redesigns just before impose voting.
Lots of ressources wasted and 2 old most beloved maps now only hated and soon forgotten with voting system.

And less varity of mech builds. Mostly cold maps are chosen for the laser builds while the heat efficiency of other weapon systems becomes even less important.

That's why the mob wants to play nothing but mindless deathmatch with hit-scan pinpoint weapons on small, cold arena maps with minimal cover. So much skillz, such new meta. <_<

And the mob wants a vanilla and bland mech shooter to match all other shooters.

The mob wants different game modes but them complain when you play the mode.

The mob still blames boogeymen for personal failings.

The mob is a bunch of idiots with blinders on.

Hey, maybe take your blinders off and see that islands do sink.

If people know their mechs weapon system the current FOTM build will dictate the terrain choice as a general consensus. Unless it's an arctic cheetah when it does not matter (j/k)

More seriously and potentially map choices might flip flop depending on the current meta. I for one do not vote for hoth with my brawler.

Sure, if you ignore all the people on the forums that say they only play Skirmish. From what I have seen on the forums it seems to be translating to the real world as you call it just fine.

IDK, I kind of like it. I got conquest serveral times last night, though I didn't get Terra therma the one time it popped up.
I think it will provide some nice stats to PGI that will hopefully let them tweak unpopular maps and game modes.

I'd love to play conquest more if the objectives were actually worth taking. Spending a minute capping for a mesely 3k cbills is stupid.

Compromise...vote for maps but leave the game mode to the players. Don't force us to play game styles we don't like.

That is a children's cartoon. It has a better understanding of the problems inherent in a majority rule system than this.

You can either have a match maker slowed by people choosing not playing a particular game mode, or a match maker slowed by people choosing to not play at all.

They wouldn't have done it unless the population is desperately small. I think that's a bigger problem.

What a terrifying thought, that because of catering to the lowest common denominator (LCD), the game we love, despite it's flaws, could be in danger of failing, because they alienated a community that once sung their praises despite their mistakes.

But they kept willfully making bad decisions, that the community warned them repeatedly were bad ideas. And here we are, with a game that started as a truly interesting and unique game in a sea of CoD and an ocean of tank games, and somehow filling a niche between them and being fantastic. Then it became stagnant, and slumped, and pgi started making desperate changes trying to draw the LCD players in, and they drove off the community, and we're here.

All free to play games may be held aloft largely by whales (myself included), but MWO might be the worst of them, because I honestly fear that the few whales left are the ONLY thing holding the game up, and changes like the idiotic voting system are even driving the most diehard, battletech/mechwarrior whales off...

Its going to create a death spiral. People will threaten all kinds of bluffs over nerfs etc, but being forced to play checkers when they want chess will make them leave. Then the available pool will shrink even further, and matchmaker will revert back to slow wait times. Except this time around you will be waiting waiting waiting to drop in Skirmish HPG for the 20th time in a row.

And wait till Steam hits. It won't take long for the new player base to learn that the meta is laser vomit on simplest mode on coldest map.

This is not the solution, its a death spiral.

i don't mind the vote on map select, however before was a better game type select, you could choose what types you wanted to play, now with the vote the events are going to be ALOT harder to get the ones your missing, if you have 25 in assault 25 in skirmish and 12 in conquest, it might take you 30 runs to get 1 conquest map, I much prefer the old way of which types would we like to play, however the map select is ok with me, I normaly don't care what map I am on so voteing for the map is fine, but I really do not care for the match type select, the old match type select I feel was a better way to go

Just wana point out that in FPS games, skirmish/deathmatch is generally the most popular game mode.

Should still be an incentive to play the objective or better yet, make the game modes interesting. Deathballing and killing the enemy team is currently the most effective way to win.

No, some want different game modes to play. They complain when they are *forced* to play modes they do not want to play.

I threatened. I followed through. All pre-orders cancelled. Cheers to billing for prompt response and refund. Jeers to development for Caustic and voting with their forced modes and false choice.
