It would be cool, but also very expensive for me to put even a handful of mechs back to stock lol.

Think of all the STD engines, SHS, and STD armor and structure I'd have to buy back. Ugh.

Ideally, you select a chassis you already own, and the game mode drops you in the stock model. Though if you have a few free 'mech bays is actually easier to buy a new machine and leave it stock than hassle with reversion.

I would never play this, Half the fun for me is to put what I like on a mech.

Your mileage may vary. Though I suggest they put in an Unlimited Solaris mode for people who like extreme customization.

The Mode selects the Stock Mech for you. :) Just hit Stock Mode and BOOM, you get put into 1 of 24 randomly selected 3025 Stock Mechs.

P.S. The Pool of 24 (6 in each weight class) would be decided by the players who would Vote in a Poll that lists ALL the 3025 Chassis and Variants. The Stock versions of the Top 24 become the random pool in that mode.

/signed for 3025 stock mech matches (tier 1 technology only, ideally no weapon quirks either)

I have always been against 10v 12

BUT

what if CW was stock only, 10 v 12? I'd play that

Leave the solo/group/solaris (right? :D) modes to be fully customizable.

In fact someone should make a petition to ask if we can try that on the test server

I play a few stock mechs (only SOME changes like ammo distribution/armor etc.) and it works fine. Just don`t expect a stock Firestarter do work....

BUT, stock vs. stock would be a nice niche game mode

I've played for years and been through one cataclysmic re-balancing after the other. Could we please have a stock mech option while PGI figures out how they will finally balance the game?

Two options: stock IS vs stock IS, stock clan vs stock clan

If you wont do it on the production servers, then put it up on the test servers when they are not being used for public testing. Please. Pretty please.

I messaged Russ about this a while back, and this was his reply:

"Well as you know we cannot afford to run more "buckets" in MWO. Therefore everyone would need to buy into the concept of playing stock mech mode across the board.

This would mean that the Clans with their stock mechs would utterly destroy the IS.

I think if it has any chance of coming into MWO it will need to prove it's worth in private matches first."

And we've tried to do just that.

No.

At most this could be an option in the private lobby.

Basically if it flooded the forums and his twitter then you might see a push towards it.

Oh, we've sent him an entire proposal document detailing how a 3025/stock mode would be good for the new player experience and not detract too much away from the "another bucket" mentality. We've definitely tried.

But yes, if the whole community started rising in arms clammoring for it, it might gain some traction. I just don't see it happening otherwise. I honestly don't think this mode is wanted in PGI HQ.

You could expand stock mode to have CW matches of actual battles from the game lore. Kell hounds vs the invading clans for an example, or a battle from fourth succession wars

Yep, it'd have to be something like a 3025 stock mode, or we'd just have an even narrower meta of the few post-lostech mechs we have in the game. I run my WLF-2 near-stock in the public queue, and it does very well there.

Now a 3025 mode would be really cool. I don't even care if it's stock or non-stock, just 3025 tech. It'd solve a lot of the issues in MWO: low TTK, laser vomit (try that with SHS), IS-vs-clan balancing (as the latter's not there). If we had that, I'd play it all day long.

Aye. 3025 tech best tech

We've been suggesting this for 3 years now. Stock mech modes, maybe a FFA game mode (for the funs) etc etc. **** that PGI should be able to implement with out any major coding changes. (I liked the idea of a random mech mode where all 24 players get the same mech..).

Instead we get more mechs and some map reworks. Seriously PGI what drugs are you on? Games need to be fun and this game is starting to fail in that department. Give us something that actually changes gameplay..different modes and that keeps players , or makes new ones come back or old ones return....

PGI is short programmers. Perhaps if they put together kickstarter mini-campaigns for short term deliverables, the community would buy the content pack, and fund the programmer that gets added specifically for that pack.

I think even I would toss some money into the Stock-Mode kickstarter, along with Solaris VII, and maybe even the "add logistics and meaning to CW kickstarter".

Technically mech packs are supposed to be enough kickstarter type activity to fund the rest of the game, but they don't appear to be ramping up on that kind of staff or we would see an uptick in content that's not mechs when what we've seen is a bit of a flatline in content, while mech packs keep rolling out at a steady rate.

More programmers, less artists, mech packs can wait, while not everyone is going to be here by the time PVE rolls around. People won't leave if there's no new mechs for a while, but they will if there's no substance or actual content. Grinding out master on a new mech is not content.
