Allowing duos in solo queue shouldn't break it.

Currently it's almost impossible to introduce a new player to the game and play with them - group queue is brutal.

Something is wrong when friends would rather solo than play duo together!

If necessary, MM can balance by adding (say) up to two duos to each side in solo queue.

Thoughts?

This has been discussed so many times before. Basically, the answer is a big fat "No!" from solo players.

No.

You think fighting 12 mans is bad. What are you going to do when they drop in 2's and farm the guys that want to play solo rambo?

Just for an example of things you'd see from not even elite T1 players, just a pair of unit members looking to farm -

2x 54 damage Laser alpha. 108 damage actually focused down on targets. Instgib to near instagib for everything on the field.
2x dual guass with LPL/ERLL - pretty much the same as above except they won't even need to get close.
2x SPL cheetahs - because they are broken, and 2 of them = 4 dires or more against pugs.
2x 2ac10/3ac5 or 4 ac10 dires - well just have fun when those guy focus on the same target ct.
2x streak crow/streak dog/streak wolf - just because its ez mode damage and they can both be drunk as balls

for lolz I would fully expect to see 2x 6 ac2 Maulers unloading from long ranges giving you that epic cockpit shake and death from seizure.

The reason people don't want any groups in the solo queue is because teamwork is ridiculously OP in this game, you'll see that a lot every time you get rolled as a solo when the other team decided to coordinate in the slightest bit.

I'd say allow groups of two only if one of those two is under his first 25-50 drops. Basically while they would still be running around with training wheels.

They allow duo queue in ranked matches of LoL and many other games. I can't understand why this would be a problem.

Balance group sizes. That's all they can do to this piece of garbage of a game without completely redesigning the entire game from ground up.

Simply put:
Because the solo players whine louder than 10 million 8 month old babies that haven't been fed in 6 hours.

Sorry Bro but MWO is already broken maybe beyond repair.

Long ago and far away in MechWarrior4 all versions we MechWarrior pilots and friends could play for free 1v1-12v12 just for fun or in private leagues. We had over 200+ maps-10+ game modes-A huge Social Lobby system-100+ mechs-PVE-Coop modes-and much more that was 1995-2004.

Now lets flash to 2015 almost 2016 we have MWO which has great graphics and great mechs designs and BINGO nothing else just a shallow FPS boring repetitive and not very fun after a hundred games. So don't get your hopes up MWO will be a true MechWarrior game anytime soon you can drop with friends for free and have fun.

P.S you could also recruit new teammates for league games and friends to play and train no stress no 12v12 stomp mania no paper mechs that take no damage just fun matches and fun competition in leagues.

Groups of 2 should be matched into either group or solo group automatically. There should be a maximum of 1 group per team.

There used to be up to 1 group lance each in the solo queue back in the 8 man days. While a 4 man could easily turn one of those games, a 2 man didn't really swing games that much. Now that we have 12v12 the solo queue should be fine with two mans.

The biggest reason I want this isn't because of 2 mans getting crushed in group queue, but because of wait times. Having two man teams be place in either would speed up match making. Right now I don't play with my buddy because of 10min+ wait times in the group queue.

Yes.
Introducing players to this game is pretty much impossible in this game. 2 groups of two per 24 players is hardly overpowered.
With the intro of VOIP there is no excuse

Would have no problem with it. Heck I might even drop with some guys from my friends list in a two man.

In LoL, at most there can be one duo per team--from what I remember. It used to be two duos max, but then it was too snowbally, so Riot reduced the number of duos to only one per team. In MWO, there can be SIX duos per team, max. Which means even more snowballing, if the other team is made of soloers.

So unless PGI allows only one duo per solo-q team, **** will hit the fan faster than map voting phase we are going through. Also, inflate the duo's tier cause they will have advantage over the others.

Can't fix human stupidity.

Leave solo queue for solo players. My experience in solo queue is pretty good. Matches seem to be balanced rather well for the most part and real steamrolls are very rare.

Group queue on the other hand...
It can be frustrating as hell. I had exceptionally bad experiences over the last week, playing in small groups of 2-3 man.
The teamplay in group queue is non-existent in the majority of small group drops.
I've had losing streaks of up to 17 losses in a row. And most of them were not even close.
It sometimes felt like dropping with people who play for the first time.
No communication, no basic strategy, no situational awareness, no tactical info, people don't shoot uavs,...

Dropping against a 12-man with a bunch of small groups is bad enough. But if people don't try to work together as team, I rather play solo queue, although I prefer playing with friends.

I would be perfectly happy if 2-mans were allowed in solo queue.

Maybe max 1 per lance (balanced on both teams) would be best.

My view is that solo players can put up with it. I've seen pairs of new guys in with tier 1-2 10 and 12 mans. Maybe tier 4 and 5 pairs --> solo mode, 1 and 2 pairs --> group. Threes, not sure, could go either way.

This reminds me of the time were 12 mans could drop solo que it was redicules it is redicules it stayed that way
for far too long and drove ALOT of players away since there wasnt even a MM.
Solo que is for solo guys everything other is ******** from farmers trying to justify there farm.

My view is that solo queue needs to stay for solos. CW is a mess because it's a no-PSR land-it has to be by design-and the high level players actively discourage solo PUGs from playing the mode. It is now a place where crickets chirp and matches take forever to form. If CW was lance-level cooperative PvE or had that option, it would explode and see growth. See Armored Warfare, which does exactly this.

With PUGs discouraged from CW, the action moved to group queue, and now that has become a mode where larger groups routinely stomp coalitions of smaller groups, and the high end players have run off small groups, you pretty much need to be in a unit to play and it's taking longer to get matches. The CW story is being rewritten. Bring groups into solo queue and you'll run off the new players, who right now have nowhere to go to try and learn an inscrutable game. PSR doesn't protect noobs, there are a lot of good players in Tier 4 and 5 who are there because of external factors, like a bad historical k/d ratio from a lot of bad early experiences leveling mechs and getting plastered in bad group queue matches that's persisting. Solo queue is working other than the map selection modes that have turned the game into all skirmish all the time on three maps that come up over and over again. Don't kill what is working.
