No Longer Supporting Skirmish

But more to the point, its free to play, they allow people to select whatever server they want which has the specific game mode they would like to play (Assault, Skirmish, Conquest for example) and once inside those servers the players choose which map they want to play, majority vote wins. I'm also pretty sure CS:GO has a similar setup (been a few months).
*shrugs*

You know, the game they seem to be making now.
Oh you know that stuff like flanking, utilizing fire and maneuver. Just that stuff that makes combined arms warfare really technical.
Thinking that skirmish doesn't take brains in this game is freaking silly. Just because it's a team deathmatch game primarily, does NOT mean that mindless point and click will get anyone a win. Skirmish in this game still take skill, skills that anyone that's been in the military realizes takes thinking. Real life is just skirmish for keeps.

Deathball and Nascar takes some intelligence? Okay. But after the first game, then what?
This is why the population is declining and steam is coming too quick. I called it a while back with some of my friends, Steam will release just in time for the Christmas cash grab. You can also be fairly certain the Archer will come out in time for Christmas and CW Phase 3 (Return of the Re-Requirkening... all hail phase 3) with a map reset will occur before Christmas too. Why? Because to not do it would be potentially really ugly to miss THE spending season of the year.
But really, PC players generally don't want arena shooters if the industry research is accurate. That's what console players want when it isn't EA Sports or real shooters.
PC Gamers want strategy as a general rule, as well as role-play, immersion and more chess like thinking, not checkers. Get back to me when they add a whole strategic element to the game beyond "5 simple tactics to bore your player base".
The only two things with the possibility to make this game viable for the long haul is full on scripted PvE-CoOp, or full unit and personal logistics with full on faction and resource based dynamic economy with contracts and everything. Otherwise, cute arena shooter 2 steps up from a phone game.
Real life is not skirmish for keeps. It's for keeps, but let's face it, if you acted in real life how most do in video games... you'd be locked up as insane.

PvE CoOp is interesting when it first comes out due to the NEW factor but then becomes just more mindless grinding except you win more because the opposition is a Predictable AI opponent.

I still don't get why Phili needs an offensive line, when most games are decided by a pass to the endzone.
In fact, why have 4 receivers at all? You only need the one to catch for the win.
Strawman. The defensive line and 4 recievers are all to maximize oportunity to pass to the endzone. Just as playing for kills maximises getting the kills.

And it aint getting worse by the day.
That's funny because there is a game mode in Call of Duty called Domination which is more or less conquest. So, all you guys clamoring for Conquest are no less part of the Call of Doofus crowd. Nice try though.
To the OP, I had conquest several times last night so I am thinking you are exaggerating.

I've had more frequency of Conquest since I started this thread, but at best its 10%
My first drops today:
Skirmish Frozen
Skirmish Frozen
Skirmish HPG
Assault Frozen (skirm not an option)
Assault HPG (skirm not an option)
Assault Alpine (skirm not an option)
Skirmish Crimson
Conquest Canyon
Skirmish Frozen
Skirmish Forest Colony
* note that when Skirmish wasn't an option, Assault was picked and bases were ignored and played as... Skirmish.

Ghogiel: "Strawman. The defensive line and 4 recievers are all to maximize oportunity to pass to the endzone."
But that's my point. People claim skirmish wins in Assault and Conquest so why bother capping, without admitting that caps maximize opportunity to get skirmish kills.
Last night I started capping base on Crimson. Red Team was actually uncoordinated enough to send a heavy (BK) and two mediums back to kill my Raven (I know, but it still happens, even in T3). Picked them up on Seismic and hid. They searched for a minute and then started heading back. I let them get halfway back and started capping again. And all 3 turned back around to hunt for me. They were off the main battle line for at least 4 mins, and by the time they gave up and started to head back, it was 9-6.

I need about 30% to stick around.
40% Skirmish, 30% Assault, 30% Conquest would work for me, even though most Assault is played as skirmish.
Right now my MWO gaming experience is mostly Skirmish Frozen & Skirmish HPG. Its boring.

Caps do maximise the opportunity to get skirmish kills... for the team who goes for the kills as soon as possible.
Conquest is simply walk forward, take the second base and then skirmish. With 2 bases to 3 you have like over 10mins to finsh the game> most games end in well under 10min.
I really don't care how scrubs play any game mode. None of that capping crap works against good players.

I think he's just trying to make a point. PGI built this monster, against the voices in the crowd, now they (PGI) need to figure out how to control it.
I'm behind you all the way, do what you think is right. Good luck!

I will point out, that it is obviously against the MINORITY voices in the crowd. Its just that the opinions of that minority are supposed to be more right/important, apparently.

I don't really care what's popular. Miley Cyrus is popular.
As for the majority, I no longer take their "hardcore" talk seriously - they have Skirmish already, and when they get Assault & Conquest they just ignore bases and play it as... Skirmish. They want laser vomit meta on cold clear maps, with the least distractions and shortest time to kill so they can grind cbills. And this is the same crowd that threw a tantrum when the PTS threatened their laser meta. If we gave them NHUA, they would run with it and that's all we would play.
They have dumbed MWO down to Easy Mode. Its the arcade version.
And before you fall in love with majority rule, consider that Steam players are soon to be the majority. I hope you aren't already tired of Skirmish HPG/Frozen, because you'll be seeing a lot more of it.

You say it is dumbed down yet you have not mastered it. Everyone forgets that the reason players are good is primarily decision making and positioning. All thought based skills. Twitch aim skills are a bonus, they help but the core is using your head and making good decisions. To the average player, it seems like OMG that person just EZ mode alphad me and I couldn't shoot him back. Well, you need to stop and think about why that is happening. Its not that the game is dumbed down, its that someone else is playing the game smarter.
Let me also remind you that Frozen City (day) with the storm, is not a clear map at all.
Now that we have addressed that fallacy, why is running to bases and capturing without fighting so fun for you? Of course people are going to want to shoot other people. Late in the game is when you start looking at bases and figuring out what you need to do. I can't tell you how many times that teams that lost the "battle" win by caps because they have some elusive players left. I don't get how you expect to get through a game without having to fight the other team, and I don't understand why you would want to. This is a PVP game, of course people want to shoot other people. I don't know, you are just coming off as a spoiled whiny child with all this "other people don't want to play the same game mode as me, and when they do, they shoot mechs instead of only capping, its not fair!"
