I like the direction PGI is going in making IS mechs defensively powerful, while Clan mechs retain much of their offensive strength that's innate with Clan Tech. The big problem though is that we have too much inconsistency between IS mechs that are functionally similar.

I don't. Defensive quirks are short lived. Agility and firepower are eternal. Not to mention, if you want to make C-bills you will now default to Clan mechs so you can do more damage.

Survivability plays a major part in how much total damage a person does in a match. Hitpoint quirks allow you to extend the length of time your weapons are in one piece and your mech is still on the field fighting. It's why many IS builds avoid XL in favor of Standard Engine. The improved durability outweigh the extra firepower you would otherwise gain.

Anyway, we'll see how it goes. Maybe it wont work as intended, or this wasn't their intention at all and everything will change on PTS 4. I just find this idea a much better approach to balancing IS vs Clans than giving a handful of IS mechs super weapon quirks, or trying to balance a Clan UAC/20 with an IS AC/20.

Super quirks not required. The only weapon quirks I support are the 10-15% ones. Resistance 2 mechs are a good example for weapons quirks. Enough to help and shake things up a bit, but not gigaquirks like the HBK-4J.

This, the majority of people will want to play offensive mechs not defensive mechs. Heck if they make IS defensive and give agility and firepower to the Clans this game is done as far as Im concerned - game ruined.

So what you're saying is if only superquirked IS mechs can compete with Clan mechs, then with lowered quirks on IS mechs we need Clan mechs to get super negative quirks - hearing you loud and clear buddy!

Prease don't ruin my Marauder PGI. Give me a week of solace and then you can go about your evil schemes. :(

I'm trying to actively make the game better for us all, while you're on the sidelines trying to troll my thread.

lol

by making QQ threads prematurely with the typical MWO-forums-glass-half-full-attitude?
Yeah right.

You are stirring up negativity, the worst form of forum trolls. You are not even funny.

game is extremely unbalanced now. its already at the catastrophe stage.

it would be pretty hard to make it even more unbalanced. the PTR changes look like theyre going to make the game a little more balanced. At least as far as lasers/gauss go.

but PGI is fooling themselves if they think the gap between a timber wolf and black knight can be closed by giving the black knight better sensor quirks lol. IS vs Clan balance still needs A LOT of work from what I gather.

they still havent addressed one of the biggest imbalances: CXL vs ISXL. they need to buff ISXL so it can survive a side torso destruction and buff STD engines with a CT internal structure increase so STD is still worth using.
