Did You Choose A Frozen Map So Your Opponents Can Use More Lasers Against You?

You choose a cold map, your opponents get enhanced cooling for their Lasers...
Think about it.

Really though- sometimes I think people just push it becuase the hivemind subliminaly told them to.
I had a team a couple nights back, I picked canyon/conquest... got outvoted. KK, whatevs, my Ebon Jag is good to go.
Get into map. Team mates are a mixmatch bunch of LRM awesome, dakkaboat dwf, twin goosewaffle Illya(lol) you know... basically, 3/4 of my team was mid/long range mechs that brawl for **** of had weapons completely ineffective inside of 300M compared to 80% of anything.
Funny part was, enemy team was about 50% that too. So all i could think, was people just don;t freegin get it! AND THEN, lol, and then- both teams march into the city grids to faceblast each other! LRM boat awesome was right there behind DWF lol, twin goose Illya tried to stay off the front lines, but he was right in there too.
So, 70% of these guys, voted for the coldest map that favors point blank brawls, with mechs that had zero advantage, OR WORSE.
It's just amusing I guess. If you are going to vote for the cold map, like every time(as people say happens) wouldn;t you bring like, a laser boat or something?
hahahha, but then, as if the people that can't wrap their head around that concept will come here to the forums anyway.

I like Canyon Network. Sure it's a navigation problem, but it never forces me to use eye searing or poor contrast vision modes that limit my range of vision, cloak ECM 'Mechs or otherwise don't function in a sane or realistic way. Crimson's also okay.
Most time's I just vote against the majority just to help give the minority a fair chance.

"So, the meta is front-loaded lasers, so you stock up on them and vote for a cold map, to get an advantage. But if front-loaded lasers are the meta, everyone and his dog will _also_ mount them, so you don´t actually _get_ an advantage."
@Eldagore
LOL, I am pretty sure I wasn´t in that match, but I sure could be guilty of doing something like that, given I have still no clue about the maps

Reason why frozen is so often, because its represented 2 times in the pool, day and night seperately, new maps dont have that because they have different daytimes built in.
They need to adjust the weighting so both FC maps have half the chance to appear in the voting

I'm actually recording what maps I'm given in an effort to determine the weighting. Whilst i have only recorded 39 votes (small sample size), 25% of my votes have contained Frozen City or Frozen City Night. If you call that "often", consider these other stats;
There is roughly a 60% chance for a vote to contain Veridian Bog, 50% for Caustic Valley, 50% for river city, 55% for Terra Therma, and 55% for Forest Colony

That's about as smart as choosing the Oval Track for your "personal advantage" so your NASCAR-spec'd vehicle can outdrive everyone else's NASCAR-spec'd vehicle.
