I hope they make a separate kindergarten queue for the launch day, otherwise I reckon a lot of the newbies will leave after getting stomped over and over by the veterans

Given PGI's experience with big launches....
I can guarantee you this, there will be some new personalities on the forums in a month...

Not as big a deal as most would hope in either direction.

Closed Beta -> Open Beta complaints to not do it (I wasn't there, but I'm sure it existed).
Open Beta -> Official Launch ("just another patch day" for MWO)
Official Steam Launch - Doing this all despite having a weaksauce NPE and poor retention... but hey... we're doing it anyways (and CW is still in beta, woefully devoid of a useful end game goal - and not told what's to come).
Man... so nice... they had be be retold thrice.

Pfft. Look at any steam greenlight game. Mwo is miles ahead of 95% of them, even though it's only 60% finished.

I was here and yes there was
(lots actually)
(like universally)
I mean literally, it was the last time I can actually remember the forums and community being near unanimous about something.

There will be... but they'll end up becoming the new core ForumWarriors. They will say more or less what the existing ones are saying. Just like PGI intended.

Is the mech re-balance even going to be finished within a month? I doubt it, or else PGI will shove something out that's only partially finished despite saying that they wouldn't.
On top of being doubtful that the re-balance will even be finished, there's still a lot of things that need to be addressed unless PGI wants their 2nd "launch" of the game to flop as well after people slam the game in the Steam reviews section, and there's no way in hell PGI is going to fix everything that needs to be fixed within a month.
I predict the Steam launch will either be a disaster or at best a very disappointing launch for everybody.

Well, they do Surprise quite often...but generally that's accompanied with facepalms.
Oh, what's this? A new Ghost Mechanic?

This is the first launch ever where they have an actual tutorial.

That's a fabulous plan.
Morons.
Lol... Why so serious?
I mean, what could possibly go wrong at this point?
The game's population is so low that buggering up the game modes is the only solution, we're on "Random darts at the board" PTS 3 now, with no idea what'll show up in PTS 4 or when they decided to shove everything into production, and we're seeing mech packs sales for the most hollowed of the Unseen showing up for that big, final cash grab!
I expect a blunderful Christmas season, with a gold mech in everyone's stocking, and a mountain of enraged Steam reviews drowning out everything.
Say, is Transverse still a go? They'll need something to do after this ends as we all know it will.

PGI are going to change the gameplay so drastically that any vets still playing will basically be starting from scratch and will have no more idea on how to play than the average newbie from steam will. Thereby avoiding any issues of vets stomping noobs and any ruckus caused thereby.
Yeah a great plan!
