Folks,

I have a request for a custom personal insignia. Attached (I hope) is a scan of a morale patch I wore while in Iraq on '08-'09. If one of would would be so kind, I'd please like a couple of things:

#1: a digitized version, in the same colors and motif to be used as a personal insignia in the MechLab when MWO releases.

#2: a second version, done in the colors of the 1st Blackburn Raiders. I was thinking the 1st BBR skull could replace the smiley face. As for the bullet hole in the forehead, I haven't decided yet.

Let me know what one of you can do and we'll go from there.

Thanks,

Gwen

Yeah, trying to figure that out. Or, alternatively, I have it up in my personal gallery on the 1st BBR website. I'd actually prefer that you do it anyway, truth be told. Not that everyone is putting up crap, but damn, you do some of the coolest stuff.

Thanks much.

For my old MW4 clan, might make a merc company with the name.

Its supposed to be a clear background PNG... I hate freeware programs most of the time....

The shield is deliberately designed to look like it has been through combat and got chewed up by fire.

Another one, a subunit of Gun Squadrons named Eddie's Irregulars. The border says Irreverent, Irrelevant, Irregular, Irreplaceable

That's SWWWEEEEEETTTTTTTTT!

Something you might do to help the lettering stick out is some manner of black outline. Do the words again, in black and use a button tool to indent them somewhat, and then one letter at a time put the overlay of the words, again, inside the black outline. It will help others see the words, better, so you don't have to explain them each time. When your done with each word, merge it into a single image, cut and paste, get your angle again, and move it over the image, right over top of the extant words.

Even if you don't want to do that, that standard just looks really cool!

OGP, what about changing the yellow to a black border? I agree the yellow border doesn't quite do it for me.

Truth be told, no, I hadn't. I've never been one for drawing by hand, especially anything with curves, hehe (so much for my drafting career, huh?). Now, I WAS thinking about perhaps creating a thick white-line insignia, with the shape of the left-hand side of my unit standard as a thick white line, perhaps broken like the No Fear German helmet images you see on truck windows sometimes -I am ignorant as to what those are called-, and then a sort of broken outline of the left-hand side of a Wolf's head. Do you understand what I mean? I'm not certain I'm describing it very well, but I think what I have in mind -I know that doesn't help you see it, hehe- would look very cool if I can ever get it done correctly.

You can still do drafting, proper drafts of plans and architecture are done using compasses and straight rules.

Back on page 14 lahyenne asked for a insignia design for ComStar's 394th Division (Link to Post ). After I posted a design, he sent me a PM requesting a custom insignia for his Unit:

Quote

Would you up for trying your hand at one? It'd need to be done from scratch. Level III unit in the Com Guards 394th Division - "The Mummers".

Did a little research and at the time the game launches the 394th is a part of the 12th Army so I worked up a quick insignia based on sarna's description:

"The Twelfth Army's insignia a broadsword propped up against a battered shield."Posted Image
and we already did a version of the 394th:
Posted Image
So I did a hybrid that the 394th could use to represent itself in the 12th:
Posted Image
And finally, Comstar 12th Army, 394th Division, Level III Unit "The Mummers"

Alright, for today I've been working on some Proserpina Hussars stuff. This is a little heavier on the artistic licence than normal, but hopefully you'll indulge me.

First off, the main Proserpina Hussars insignia. This is fairly similar to the original, but I've modified it to do away with the gradient (which, as many of you surely know, is gross in my sight), replacing it with a more geometrical design that still features color graduation.
Posted Image
Next up is the 1st Proserpina Hussars. This insignia maintains the much more stylized appearance of the blood limpet, instead of attempting to recreate the more realistic ones. However, I have maintained the positioning and general layout of the original.
Posted Image
EDIT: 2nd Proserpina Hussars. Known as "Kurita's Vampires", this is a somewhat-generic conjectural scheme I whipped up for them.
Posted Image

3rd Proserpina Hussars. This maintains many themes from the original, but I have replaced the random bat with a winged blood limpet, which is a far more terrifying concept. (There is no such thing as a flying blood limpet that I am aware of. However man has long been putting wings on things that have no business flying, so I went for it).
Posted Image
4th Proserpina Hussars. This is totally conjectural. The unit's nickname is the Luthien Leeches, so I started with the question "Just what does Luthien mean?" Anyway, the only Luthien I've been able to find was a tolkien charachter, whose name may or may not have been borrowed from the old english "Lufien", or "love". Anyway, that was good enough for me. I made one of a blood limpet eating a heart. I decided to get away from the circles (getting a bit boring, I felt) so I made this one diamond shaped.
Posted Image

Federated Commonwealth. Because you can't stop the inevitable. Or can you?
Posted Image
Tamar Jägers.
Posted Image
ED: Don't know how I forgot this... MacGregor's Armored Scouts.
Posted Image
A bit random, but the Hsien Hotheads needed some attention.
Posted Image
And last for this page: the 6th Fedcom RCT. Kinda random, but meh. I plan to do others sooner or later.
Posted Image

Anyway, thanks for watching. I'm playing with the 2nd Proserpina Hussars and will probably find another unit to toy with for today and tomorrow.

Col. Hayden, that Fedcom insignia is just spot on! Wonderful job. Good to see you back.

Throwing in a humble contribution for House Fujita.

Thanks! Figured you might like it since I went with a Norse style sword and shield :) (really need a Viking smiley face here...)
