Slightly adjusting the quirks (which make the live game so much fun...), reducing clan laser max range, reducing clan heatcap...

And reducing the Jesus Box Radius by 90m.

Steam is going to lurv you.

your forgeting
-a good srm buff (makes me a happy camper)
-a gauss nerf (will make the current meta a bit less effective (in combination with the clan laser nerfs, do in my opinion lasers (all) sould have been hit a litle harder than this))
-a gaint change in skill tree effectivnes (this will have a huge inpact on all mechs...)
-some changes to the AC2 (yet a other long asked for buff do it might not be sufficient)

i know it is still not what most of us realy want, BUT it is a load more than 95% of us would have given PGI credit for when we first heard they where going to do a big rebalance of everything...

My favorite one...

Ghost heat is still there!

Weirdest mechanic ever. Made up cause the balancing force is strong...

While I would like to a see a better system than uber weapon quirks in place, I do appreciate PGI deciding that they don't have the balance right for that kind of change yet. http://mwomercs.com/...e-pts-4-updated

What Still Needs Investigation
Information Warfare is something that we really want to see enhanced with additional features in the future to diversify 'Mech roles on the battlefield. Sensor range adjustments, sensor profiles based on physical size of a 'Mech, changes to information sharing between friendly 'Mechs, and the ability to target your enemies based on an aggregation of the mentioned changes.
While we feel that these changes were steps in the right direction, and while many of you in the community agreed, the systems simply need a lot more time to tune and get right. Instead of pushing this feature out and adjusting from there, we've decided to hold off on most of these changes until we feel we have a build of the game that reflects our combined wishes as to how Information and Role Warfare will pan out.
As a result, most of those Information Warfare features from previous PTS's are not included in PTS4.

I played through my Enforcers, Panthers, Cataphracts and Thunderbolts and was fairly happy with performance. The twist range and twist speed changes to piloting skills do hurt torso mounted weapons, but also seem to increase importance of faster more agile mechs which I feel is a good change.

Thank you for making some small adjustments for the hopefully short time before he new balancing system is ready for release.Keep working on it!

They also reduced 3x firepower quirks to just below 2x, for the most part.

cXL change has been asked for, but they haven't looked at the isXL or STD buffs yet.

But they aren't making a change to the Clan XL engine. They are making a change to the Clan side torso because it has an XL engine in it! There is a difference.

If they were truly making changes based on what is happening to the engine there would be a tiered penalty as your engine slowly got shot to pieces, and it would affect (in varying amounts) both IS and Clan engines regardless of whether the engine is a standard, cXL, or isXL.

If they were truly putting in engine damage it'd be the best thing to happen since PGI deep-sixed IGP.

That would require new code...which coming from the Ghost Damage fiasco, apparently they have no problem with.

Current code is just 'sidesToDie', if you lose 1 with isXL, you die, or 2 with cXL. STD seems to be null. Now if 1 doesn't kill you, they'll just add a penalty when ST loss=1.

Better than Engine crits, as all that does is reduce TTK for everyone (including STDs)

Yeah.. we all love "The Hills have Stalkers" in Community Warfare.. such spice.

Because we had such variety before quirks were implemented. Oh . . .wait . . .

How many 'Mechs right now are only driven because of quirks? Which of those 'Mechs do you suggest will still be driven if we go back to differentiating 'Mechs only by weight, speed, and hardpoints?

Quirks aren't perfect, but I still prefer them to deciding whether I'd like to mount my PPCs on a Cataphract, Victor, or Shadow Hawk.

They also took away a number of quirks which actually gave the Timber Wolf laser-based meta system some bonuses.

Now, my TBR-C is totally blank.

But you know what? We will learn, we will adapt, we will overcome.

And we will still win.

Moving my larger post to a new thread.

The new display screens showing mech info. Love this new feature. That was a long awaited development and we are happy to receive.

The new speed nerfs I'm not really all that much against. All that does is make people have better frame rates to aim with across the board and make the engine that much more stable. So if you look at it that way its really not that big of a deal.

What you guys did to Huggin was just Cruel.

Balancing the play on so many different mech frames is a daunting task. I do give the developers kudos for sticking with it, and learning from their mistakes. I see what has happened to my favorite mechs, but you know... I am OK with that. Changes are spread across the board, and being no small effort to do I feel they continue to move in the right direction.

Good work to you guys for managing an almost unmanageable situation. I can only imagine the amount of planning it takes to undertake this work.

Explain to me why they didn't keep the ECM change?

Because they removed all the info tech aspects from the pts. Its still probably going to make it in just not until the rest of it is ready.

I sincerely hope that it makes it in. I played the updated live... and I put the game back away into obscurity.

If it's not clear, I put it back away because the game didn't seem to change much at all. No sign of the info warfare, no visible change to ECM cloaking device, no changes to missile lock system (was really looking forward to that), if anything despite targeting enemies I've found that lasers seem largely less effective and that by targeting the enemy I'm attacking rather than the other enemy that's out in the open which allies are missiling.

I'm now forced into being LESS helpful to my team by trying to do full damage to one enemy that can't be missilled, instead of targeting the one that can be while engaging the other foe that's trying to kill me.

Quirks were PGI's way of giving up on trying balance the basic game.

That tradition continues with the recent abandonment of InfoTech.
