Mmmm... appears that the start of the canon countdown to ClanRAWR is happening. The 12th Donegal Guards were the unit wiped out on Trellwan by CJF during the opening blitzkrieg of the Inner Sphere in 3050.

In Davion royal tradition, one cannot become the First Prince without having undergone military service. Victor is fulfilling his royal duty, by working with those who fight to protect his realm so that he understands their sacrifice... and partakes in it, should war come upon us.

20th June 3049, Victor recieved his assignment to the 12th Donegal.
Today's date 3049, is the day the news was announced.
13th April 3050 is the day Victor first encounters the Clans. And also his last day on Trellwan, coincidentally.

and the royals tend to do this so that the entire house military can become an extension of the royal, be it offensive or defensive manoeuvers - they like their militaries to kind of be a part of them. Talk about an ego boost! I'd feel quite like a god if I got plugged into an entire house military as one of the heads of a great house.
